Zi Han knew this couldn’t be anything good. Why did he want to know? Why did it matter who pursued his mother?

“All of them?” asked Zi Han and Yeoh Jun answered seriously,

“All of them. Even if it was just a ‘hey baby’ I want to know it all.”

“Well, that’s going to be a very long list though some of these men are either missing or disabled with a broken limb or two,” he replied with a serious expression like he wasn’t messing around. He was telling the truth though. The neighbourhood they grew up in had a lot of criminals because the environment was conducive for it.

While they were rushing to pack up in under ten minutes, Yi Chen was sitting opposite his mother in law the atmosphere a little awkward.

Zi Xingxi minimised the floating screen and said, “Don’t worry. I am just trying to get him to pack faster. He has been putting it off for a while and he gets distracted easily.”

“Video call?” she asked and Yi Chen nodded his head while taking a sip of the steaming coffee.

“You do realise he did that on purpose because he knew you would come running over, right?” she said but Yi Chen’s answer was unexpected.

“Yes, I know. That’s why I am here,” he said and Zi Xingxi’s eyes widened. One was manipulative and the other was willing to be manipulated so who was she to interfere in their business?

She couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle as she leaned back in her seat. “Okay, as long as you know,” she said her heart stirred. She knew her son’s character very well and always worried that he would never find someone who tolerated his bad habits but it seemed she had nothing to worry about.

He had found someone not only tolerant but was so in love that he was blind to it all. This was a really good thing.

“So other than my son do you have any other interests?” she asked and Yi Chen who had no other interests apart from work had to think for a moment.

“Um... I like mechs and one vs one matches,” he said and Zi Xingxi nodded her head.

“I like mechs too... and fighting,” she said before taking another sip of her coffee which was the second cup in less than half an hour.

“Thank you, auntie, this coffee is really nice,” he said genuinely complimenting her. It was far better than what he can make or the housekeeping robot. Hell, even his mother’s coffee couldn’t even be close to what he was drinking right now.

“Oh, that’s good. I am the only one in this house who loves coffee,” she said with a soft smile on her face.

“Me too. Everybody just looks at me like I am crazy and they say my tastes are strange,” said Yi Chen his smile genuine like he had found a kindred spirit.

“Interesting. You know I kept buying your mom a double shot of espresso. I bought it three times in a row and she never said anything that is until I caught her rinsing with water outside the cafe. She didn’t even want to tell me she hated coffee because she was afraid I would get mad,” said Zi Xingxi and Yi Chen’s heart felt touched. He knew his mother drank that coffee for him. She was trying to get along with Zi Xingxi for his sake and lock down this relationship as fast as possible.

“She hates coffee but she loves caramel bubble tea,” he said and Zi Xingxi nodded her head. Well, she knew how much that woman loved caramel bubble tea. She loved it so much that she could smell it from a mile away.

“Would you like to watch a show with me? I know those two will take a long time to finish,” she said and Yi Chen agreed.

He had already been tormented by his mother who dragged him to watch such things so he didn’t mind watching it with his mother in law.

As the screen turned on and she logged into the streaming platform, her light brain rang and it was a call from Lin Ruoxi. Her brow arched as she answered.

“What?” she asked and Lin Ruoxi yelled in an accusatory tone,

He turned his head and saw his mother in a clothing store while continuing with her accusations. “You said we will watch royal imposter together so why did I just get a notification that you logged in and are about to binge watch without me? “How about this mum,” she said and Lin Ruoxi turned to scold her.

Zi Xingxi couldn’t understand why she was mad thus she asked, “Why do we have to watch it together? I promise I won’t talk about it until you have watched it.”

“No, it’s ruining the experience. If you are my bestie, you have to wait for me until tonight.
