Chapter 229 The fight(2)

Lily gave Melina's hands a squeeze.

"I can stay and help if you want me to," Lily offered. "I don't want to just leave."

"I don't want you to be in danger. Please. I can't lose someone else that I care about," Melina begged her.

Lily frowned, but she nodded her understanding. She pulled Melina into a tight hug.

"I'll see you again, okay? Soon," she said with a hopeful look on her face.

Melina forced a smile on her face and nodded.

"Of course," she replied.

Elias felt an ache echo through his chest as he watched Melina say goodbye to Lily. It felt like a final goodbye in a way, but they didn't want to admit that.

He thanked Lily before she left the RV and hurried to her car. He hoped that Alaric didn't track her down.

"I can't lose her. Did I make a mistake by calling her here?" Melina asked Tyler, quietly fretting.

Tyler cupped her face and shook his head, leaning close to her.

"You didn't make a mistake. She's going to be okay," he assured her. He brushed his fingers into her hair, caressing her gently.

Elias turned to Scott, knowing that he was going to be the one to push back the most.

"We need to go to Crowley," he said. He didn't want Alaric to move positions and leave them in the dust. If they were going to get the jump on him, they needed to move now.

"Right now?" Scott asked, looking at him like he was insane.

Elias nodded, not wanting to wait too long. If they did, dragging Lily all the way here was for nothing.

He refused to let her risking her life for them go to waste, so they were going to jump on this opportunity before it went away.

"We have to. I don't want Alaric to move locations and we lose him again," he replied.

"We're not going to take any time to even prepare? This is suicide!" Scott snapped.

"We have been preparing! We agreed to catch him by surprise," Elias replied, starting to feel irritated by Scott pushing back so much.

He understood that Scott felt unsure and nervous to go after Alaric, but they agreed to do this. They had to take this chance.

"I didn't actually think that you were insane enough to follow through!" Scott scoffed, throwing his hands up as he turned away from Elias. "We can't catch someone like him off guard."

"We have to. We will," Elias said with a determined look on his face. Maybe this plan was insane, but every plan that they would come up with was insane because they were fighting an insane enemy. At some point, they had to take a risk. Elias was willing to roll the dice on this plan.

"How are you going to find one person in that whole town?" Scott asked pointedly, trying to poke as many holes in Elias' plan as he possibly could.

"He's not just a person. He's a demon. We'll feel his presence," Melina spoke up as she stepped toward Elias and Scott, breaking into their conversation.

Elias flashed her a grateful look, glad that she was there to have his back. Honestly, her opinion mattered the most because they were partners in this. If she wasn't ready, he wasn't fully ready either.

"It's the darkest thing that I've ever felt," Elias said. It was a heavy, consuming feeling, and he wasn't looking forward to feeling it again.

It was hard to gather his confidence for the fight when he was facing one of the darkest forces on the planet. He felt lucky that he didn't have to fight alone.

"I believe you guys can do this," Alyssa told them. "I'm behind whatever you want to do."

Elias turned to Tyler.

"Let's head to Crowley," he said. The others were looking to his, so he was going to make the official call. Scott could push back as much as he wanted, but Elias was going to push back twice as hard. He was ready to face Alaric.

"Start planning the funeral," Scott muttered before disappearing into the bedroom.

Elias turned to Alyssa, not wanting her to take Scott's words seriously. If Scott wanted to be negative, he needed to keep it to himself. The others didn't need to listen to that in preparation for the fight. Optimism was key.

"Don't listen to him. Everything is going to be fine," he told her as he reached out to take her hand.

Alyssa smiled a little and nodded. Maybe it was forced, but she was playing it off well.

"I know. I believe in you," she said.

Elias felt the RV start to move, making nervousness flush through him. They were really doing this.

He felt himself automatically sink down into one of the lounge chairs, pulling Alyssa into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her close.

"I'm ready to be home with you," he said. He focused on the end goal. That was one of the many things that he was fighting for. He wanted to live his life with her in peace. Peace could only exist if Alaric was killed.

"Soon," Alyssa said as she wrapped her arms around his neck, not allowing an inch of space between them.

During the ride, Elias continued to hold Alyssa tight. He didn't want to let her go, relying on her warmth and comfort to keep him somewhat calm. There wasn't much planning to do with Melina.

They were going to seek Alaric out as quietly and as carefully as they could, and then they would attack without holding back. That was the plan.

It wasn't complex. It wasn't over the top. It was direct. Maybe that was what they needed. They didn't need to complicate things when the mission was simple: kill Alaric.

He wasn't going to make it easy, so they had to hit him hard and fast before he could fully react and retaliate.

"Elias, we're here," Melina's voice broke through his thoughts.
