The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 663 - 704: Threatened
"You’re not Shade Jervois. Who are you? Shade Jervois, stop being naughty. I know it’s you."
Sienna Johnson took a piece of candy from her pocket, unwrapped it, and stuffed it into the man’s mouth. "Here, your favorite liqueur chocolate. Is it good?"
"..."
"Shade, the sunset today is beautiful," Sienna Johnson insisted, determined that the man before her was Shade Jervois, not the sinister Night Owl.
The man’s mouth was full of candy, and his eyebrows furrowed. Sienna Johnson ordered, "Don’t spit it out. If you dare, you’ll never have candy again."
"I’m not Shade! I hate candy!" Night Owl spat out the candy, disgusted by the taste, and rinsed his mouth with clear seawater.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, it painted the sea gold, creating an illusion of warmth. Yet, Sienna Johnson’s feet, submerged in the seawater, felt numb from the cold.
She had thought this island was safe enough, so she’d let her guard down.
To think, if Shade Jervois could find this island, how much easier would it be for Night Owl?
"The sunset over the sea... I never expected it to be this beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s not as lovely as the scenery I wanted to show you last time... It truly is a pity you didn’t go."
Sienna Johnson felt no pity at all. If not for the sharp dagger in his hand, she would have already called someone to arrest this bastard.
"I’m just a helpless woman! Your grudge is with Adrian Desmond, so go find him. What kind of hero bullies a woman to settle scores?" Sienna Johnson tried to provoke his sense of honor, hoping he would let her go.
"You’re not helpless at all."
"How am I not helpless? If you wanted to kill me now, wouldn’t it be as easy as crushing an ant?" she whispered.
Night Owl pulled out a waterproof bag and handed it to Sienna Johnson. She looked at him, puzzled, wondering what he was up to.
"Your daughter’s hair... curly, flaxen, soft, and fragrant..."
Sienna Johnson snatched the waterproof bag and looked closer. It was indeed her daughter’s hair—flaxen and curly.
"Night Owl, what have you done to my daughter? Is she in your hands?" she demanded, her voice trembling with emotion, no longer cowering before the dagger in Night Owl’s hand.
"Don’t worry, I haven’t harmed her... but..."
Night Owl reached out to touch Sienna Johnson’s foot in the water, but she kicked his hand away. "Little wildcat!" If he weren’t afraid of being spotted by people on the shore, he would have dragged this woman into the water and taught her a harsh lesson.
"What do you want?" Sienna Johnson clutched the waterproof bag, glaring at the malevolent man, Night Owl.
"Adrian Desmond has an arms deal on the 26th. I want you to find out the time and place."
"I’ve never been involved in Adrian Desmond’s business, nor have I ever asked about such things. If I suddenly ask about an arms deal, he’ll definitely become suspicious."
"Sienna, you’re so clever. I’m sure you’ll think of a way."
Night Owl smiled wickedly. It was true what they said: a person’s face reflects their heart. Though he and Shade Jervois had identical features, Night Owl filled Sienna Johnson with fear and dread, while Shade Jervois evoked entirely different feelings.
"Are you short of money?"
"Yes, compared to Adrian Desmond, I’m a bit strapped for cash. Fortunately, I have a benefactor like him who knows how to make money."
"Listening to you, it sounds like you plan to use Adrian Desmond as a cash cow."
Night Owl didn’t try to hide it. "One reason I haven’t killed him immediately is that I want to take over all his assets!" His gaze lingered on Sienna Johnson’s beautiful face. "And you!"
"..."
"You once lay beneath Adrian Desmond. One day, you’ll lie beneath me, fucked by me. Tell me, wouldn’t that be incredibly exciting?" A perverse image formed in Night Owl’s mind, and picturing Adrian Desmond’s furious face, he chuckled darkly.
"Pervert!"
"I live to make Adrian Desmond miserable!"
"To forgive others is to forgive yourself!"
"Between Adrian Desmond and me, only one can survive in this world!"
Someone approached. The vigilant Night Owl sensed them and said to Sienna Johnson, "I’ll be waiting for your good news! Curly’s hair is beautiful, and her ears are lovely too. Next time, I’ll just cut her ears off!"
"No!"
"Then be a good girl and cooperate with me. Don’t try to be clever and ask Adrian Desmond for help. He can’t protect you! If I find out you’re working with him to trick me, I’ll cut off both of Curly’s ears!" He slipped into the water and fastened a thin platinum chain around her ankle.
"What is this?"
"A listening device! Watch your mouth. Before you say anything, think of your precious daughter. Such an adorable child... it would be a terrible shame if she lost her ears, eyes, nose, and limbs..."
"Please, stop," Sienna Johnson begged. Night Owl’s words terrified her. Just imagining such a thing was like death by a thousand cuts for her.
"What are you doing here?" It was Adrian Desmond’s voice.
The man in the water swam away like a fish. Sienna Johnson placed a hand on her stomach. She had wanted to call out to Adrian Desmond to deal with Night Owl, but under Night Owl’s venomous, snake-like gaze, she couldn’t utter a word.
Night Owl had won his gamble. She couldn’t afford to take the risk!
Adrian Desmond’s hand rested on Sienna Johnson’s shoulder, and he found her body rigid. "Are your legs numb? Who told you to soak your feet in the seawater for so long?"
He carried her out of the water and set her down on the beach. The sand, warmed by the sun all day, was cozy, but Sienna Johnson still felt chilled to the bone.
"Feeling better?" Adrian Desmond’s warm hands gently massaged her legs. He had done this often since she became pregnant and was quite skilled by now.
"What’s wrong with you?" Adrian Desmond also noticed something was amiss. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Sienna Johnson didn’t know if Night Owl was still watching from nearby, so she dared not speak carelessly.
"It’s nothing. I’m just pregnant and a little tired."
"I’ll carry you back so you can rest."
"Okay."
Adrian Desmond bent to pick Sienna Johnson up and noticed the anklet. His gaze froze. "When did you get this anklet? I’ve never seen it before."
Sienna Johnson explained, "It was my mom’s. I saw it and thought it looked fun, so I put it on." After speaking, she looked away, not daring to meet Adrian Desmond’s eyes, afraid he would sense something was wrong.
"If you like it, I’ll buy you one tomorrow."
"There’s no need. I’ll just wear it for a few days. It’ll be fine once the novelty wears off."
Sienna Johnson reached out for a hug. Adrian Desmond held her in his arms and walked with steady steps towards the Castle.
"Where’s Aaron? When is he coming to the island?" Sienna Johnson asked.
"Why are you suddenly so concerned about Aaron?"
"I need his help with something..." Sienna Johnson glanced at the anklet, unsure if Aaron would be able to remove it.
