Chapter 749: Chapter 790: Entering the Lair

"As long as I pay taxes to the Government on time, they won’t care what I grow." π‘“π˜³π‘’π‘’π“Œπ˜¦π˜£π˜―β„΄π‘£π˜¦π‘™.π˜€π‘œπ‘š

What kind of country is this?

"Don’t you think they’re beautiful?"

"In my eyes, all I see is sin, decay, broken homes, and ruined lives..."

Perhaps it was due to an emptiness in their hearts. Although many strict regulations had been enacted to curb drug use, the number of drug users still increased every year. Young people, with their impressionable minds, easily became addicted.

What most people didn’t know was that once addiction took hold, it was nearly impossible to quit.

Sienna Johnson owned a pharmaceutical factory, so she was very familiar with the ins and outs of the industry. The so-called miracle drugs in drug rehabilitation centers actually still contained narcotics.

All these acres of poison could destroy so many precious lives.

"Is it because you’ve become a mother that your heart has softened so much?"

"My heart has always been soft."

"Back when you poisoned the people on the island, I didn’t see you showing any mercy."

"If I hadn’t been merciful, you would’ve turned into a pile of bones long ago!"

"Yes, so in your heart, you are also mine..."

Sienna Johnson was speechless.

"...Opium poppies, also known as Lillichun flowers, thrive in environments with little rainfall but moist soil, long sunlight hours but not dryness, plenty of soil nutrients with low acidity, and an altitude of about 900 to 1,300 meters. This place is perfect for them.

Moreover, this land doesn’t grow any food, only these Lillichun flowers. They grow best on this land."

The car drove through acres of Lillichun flower fields and arrived at Xavier Young’s residence.

It was a small village, with many houses topped with thatched roofs, clearly displaying its poverty.

In Orienta, such thatched houses were basically non-existent. Here, perhaps due to years of labor, both men and women had dark, weather-beaten skin. The children all went barefoot.

"...You’re willing to buy a luxury car worth tens of millions, yet you’re unwilling to give them a little more in their salaries," Sienna Johnson sighed.

"At least I’ve given them a home without war!"

The car drove past the thatched houses. As it went further in, the scenery changed.

The road was no longer dirt but asphalt. Further in stood a beautiful five-story Avrupa-style building. A high wall, topped with electrified barbed wire and numerous surveillance cameras, surrounded the residence. Behind the thick gate were guards armed with loaded guns.

"We’ve arrived. Let’s get out."

Sienna Johnson didn’t move. "Is this your lair?"

"Lair?" Xavier Young mused for a moment, then laughed. "That’s quite an apt description. Yes, this is my lair."

Sienna remained silent.

"Come, let’s take a look at my lair."

At this moment, Sienna Johnson finally felt as if she had entered a den of thieves. She looked at Xavier Young. This man had changed so much from who he was several years ago; he was no longer so easy to control.

"Why are you still hesitating? Get out of the car." He got out first and stood outside, extending his hand to her. Sienna Johnson didn’t take it. She lowered her head, intending to get out on her own, but he forcefully grabbed her hand.

After their hands clasped, Xavier Young never let go.

Sienna Johnson was beautiful. Everyone who saw her stopped and stared. She, in turn, observed them. Aside from the armed guards, the people here were generally dark-skinned and thin, appearing malnourished.

"Boss..." they respectfully greeted Xavier Young.

Xavier Young nodded.

"See? This is how you bewitched me back then too..."

Sienna Johnson didn’t respond.

After walking across the marble pavement and entering the high-ceilinged entrance hall, Sienna Johnson was completely astonished.

The contrast was just too great. It felt like stepping out of a Goldland slum and into the opulent Brevon Royal Palace.

Xavier Young held Sienna’s hand the whole time, leading her to her room.

"Four years ago, when this house was completed, I had this room decorated, waiting for your arrival."

Sienna remained silent.

"I knew I would definitely be able to wait for you!"

He pulled her to the window and pushed it open. Outside, she could see green mountains and, of course, vast fields of fiery red opium poppies. Sienna Johnson felt a pang of displeasure.

"Do you like it?"

"It seems you don’t really understand me..." Sienna Johnson broke free from his hand and slowly walked around the room, her fingers lightly brushing over the luxurious furniture.

The room was excessively extravagant: a thick, long-pile white carpet; heavy, crystal-inlaid curtains; expensive Avrupa-style furniture; and a dazzling crystal chandelier overhead. This place really wasn’t suitable as a bedroom.

"If you don’t like it, I’ll have it redecorated," he said affectionately.

"Never mind, let it be."

Xavier Young stared at her with burning eyes, an intensity that Sienna Johnson found hard to bear. She didn’t know if she would be able to leave this place unscathed this time.

"Don’t look at me like that; it makes me very uncomfortable," she said softly.

Xavier Young was overjoyed, like a child who had finally gotten the toy he’d been longing for day and night. He walked over and embraced her. "You don’t know how much I like you."

"What’s so good about me?" She smiled bitterly, filled with regret for the misdeeds of her past.

"Everything about you is good!"

Sienna Johnson was speechless.

"Boss..." Someone approached, clearly looking for Xavier Young. It seemed the matter was not for Sienna Johnson’s ears, as the man merely looked at Xavier Young without speaking.

Xavier Young said to Sienna Johnson, "You seem very tired. Rest for a while, and I’ll come to get you for dinner."

"Alright."

Xavier Young kissed her forehead and left the room.

CLICK. As the door shut, Sienna Johnson felt utterly drained and sank onto the edge of the bed. Everything had spun completely out of her control.

She touched her belly; the baby still hadn’t moved. Usually, the baby was particularly active, moving several times a day. However, ever since she had experienced another bout of fetal distress, the baby hadn’t moved much.

This baby, not even born yet, had already endured so many troubles in her womb. Sienna Johnson no longer wished for a clever or beautiful child; she only prayed for him to be born healthy and sound.

"Baby, I want to go home!"

"We shouldn’t have come to Abyanabad. If we hadn’t come here, we wouldn’t have encountered these problems..."

Exhausted, she lay on the bed, weakly whispering her desire to return to her home in Sileria City, where her peaceful life awaited.

Once again, Sienna Johnson entertained the thought of leaving Adrian Desmond.

"Madam..."

Sienna Johnson looked up abruptly. A man had appeared in the room at some point. He wore a tight, royal blue V-neck shirt and a dark red sarong-like skirt, an outfit similar to what the women she had seen outside were wearing.
