Chapter 813: Everyone’s Collective Prayers

Days had passed, with Lola spending most of her time at the site and, once in a while, at the hospital. She got too busy to even properly check how Atlas was. But from what she knew, the surgery was a success, and he was recovering.

But even after days, he hadn’t woken up.

The rest? She heard they had regained consciousness.

Just like Zoren and Hugo.

"Renren, can you hear me?!" Penny shouted, standing beside the bed, her hands slammed on the side of it. "Hello? Do you recognize me? I’m your wife, Paloma!"

Zoren furrowed his brows and grunted a little as he opened his eyes. Once his vision cleared, all he saw was Penny’s face hovering over him, her voice echoing in his ears.

"And your name is Xander!" she exclaimed. "We have ten children, with one already thirty-five!"

The lines on his face deepened. His mind was already in a confused state, but with everything she was spewing, he was getting even more confused.

Zoren blinked ever so slowly, and his chapped lips parted. "Paloma."

"Yes, it’s me, Pampano!" Penny clasped his hand. "Do you recognize me, Sebastian?"

"..." he sighed. "You said my name is Xander, Penny."

Penny’s breath hitched as she bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. "You’re fine! You’re fine! Good! I’m just testing whether your mind is still sharp or if it dulled!"

"Hah..." he let out a weak chuckle, his eyes softening. "I missed you, Pampano."

As Penny wept and resisted throwing herself at her husband, Lola, Allen, Haji, and Izu — who were outside the room — had their faces etched with confusion.

"If I were her husband, even if I didn’t have amnesia, I would have a hemorrhage with the way she wakes him up," Haji commented quietly.

Penny’s nonsense already confused those who weren’t injured or in a coma for days. What more for someone who had just woken up from a long slumber? Yet, Zoren was going along with it.

"Say," Haji turned his head to Izu. "Is that how smart people think or talk?"

Izu shrugged as Angel and a few men rushed into the hallway with the doctors. The group passed them, but even with more people inside the ward, that didn’t stop them from hearing Kiara’s stern and deadly voice.

"I saw you move," Kiara’s voice shook, as though a demon had possessed her. "Don’t play dead now, Hugo."

Out of curiosity, Haji, Izu, and even Lola peeked through the door. There, right across from where Penny was saying all those confusing names and made-up stories about having ten children, was Kiara seated beside her husband’s bed.

Hugo wasn’t moving at all, as if before experiencing whatever confusion one would feel upon waking, he already knew exactly the danger he was in.

"If I were him, I’d stay dead," Haji muttered, and Izu nodded. "I’d keep my eyes closed even if the world were going to end."

Lola pursed her lips, studying the reddening eyes of Kiara beneath the anger consuming her. Then she shifted her gaze to Penny, who was still talking nonsense while crying as the doctors checked on the patient.

A subtle smile turned up on her face, and she nodded.

Taking a step back, she glanced at Haji and Izu. "Look after them."

"Huh?" Haji and Izu looked up at her. "Uh, okay."

With that, Lola shot Allen a glance. "Let’s go."

"Yes," Allen nodded and shot the duo a look before following Lola.

As they left, Haji and Izu couldn’t help but stare at their backs — especially Lola’s.

"Say..." Haji trailed off, blinking. "... everyone is already awake except Atlas, right?"

Izu turned to him. "Yeah. Why?"

"Nothing," Haji hummed. "I just thought Draken and Baby’s injuries were far more severe than his. But somehow, he hasn’t woken up. Even though Mark and the guy from the Church already woke up this morning."

He rocked his head. "That’s why she’s been burying herself in work."

Lola hadn’t left the hospital yet and went to a different ward. As she neared a particular open door, she heard waves of laughter. It was as though the sound didn’t come from a hospital ward, with how lively it was.

Stopping near the door, she leaned in slightly and peeked inside.

There, she saw Charles and Draken laughing to their hearts’ content. Both of them wore hospital gowns, and the bandages wrapped around Draken’s large body made him look like a mummy. As for Charles, he had his cast replaced after it cracked. He also had small bandages, though still not as many as Draken.

"All they need are bottles of beer," she muttered, darting her eyes between the men who were having the time of their lives as wardmates. "How did they get along so well?"

Allen also peeked and smiled subtly. "Sir Charles gets along with everybody. I think his personality and Sir Draken’s just clicked."

Still, it was a surprise that Charles and Draken got along just a day after waking up. Even Allen or Lola wouldn’t laugh like this with a stranger.

"But I’m glad they’re doing fine," she whispered, then shifted her gaze to Baby and Mark, who were sharing the ward with them. Henrik was there too, looking at Charles and Draken with an ugly expression as if he was debating getting transferred.

After a small huff, Lola drew her head back and was about to walk away when Allen spoke.

"Madam, aren’t you going to stop by and say hello to them?" he asked, watching her pause and look back at him with a subtle smile.

"Maybe later," she said. "I’ll still check on the elders and Marceline. Plus the paperwork for everything. Allen, don’t forget the piling work we have to keep up with."

Bitterness appeared on Allen’s face as he watched Lola’s back. Atlas was still unconscious, but it didn’t feel like that. With how Lola had been acting, it felt like he was awake and had just taken over a female body!

"Miss Lola..." he muttered. "Please have mercy on all of us."

It wasn’t just Allen, but others — from the Orders, the people of the tribe of Talmaru, the people of the House of Monreal, and the court of Bellemonte — had been waving a gigantic white flag at Lola. But alas, she was working all of them to the bone!

It was almost a wonder how, even with these joint forces, they still felt overworked and understaffed!

But the most fascinating thing of all was... all of them hoped Atlas would regain consciousness to stop his wife’s madness! After all, Draken, Marceline, and Henrik were already awake, yet they weren’t helpful at all — just entrusting everything to Lola.

So, their last hope was Atlas.
