The Billionaire's Temptation: Love, Family and Revenge-Chapter 41: In for a Kiss
Their eyes met again, and for a brief moment, everything else seemed to fade away. A soft smile formed on Elena’s lips, and she quickly looked away, trying to compose herself.
"You really do have a beautiful smile," Ford said, his voice warm and admiring.
Elena rolled her eyes playfully. "I don’t understand why you keep complimenting me," she muttered. Then, unable to help herself, she added, "But... thank you."
Eager to change the subject, she gestured toward the food. "It’s time to eat. I’m sure you’re hungry," she said as she reached for a glass to pour him some water.
But as she turned, she suddenly froze. Her gaze fell to the floor, where shards of broken glass from the earlier incident still littered the ground. Her eyes widened in realization—the jug had shattered too.
"It looks like this place needs to be swept first," she murmured. "And we need a new jug for water. Let me call a nurse to clean this up."
She was about to leave when she felt a firm but gentle grip on her arm.
Ford had pulled her back.
She turned to him, startled by the unexpected action. His fingers lingered on her wrist, his touch warm. Their eyes met once more, and something unspoken passed between them.
For a moment, she forgot about the mess on the floor. She forgot about the jug.
All she could focus on was the way his eyes held hers, as if he wasn’t ready to let her go just yet.
Elena’s eyes fluttered open, and she froze. She was lying on top of him, their faces just inches apart.
Shock rippled through her, but strangely, she didn’t feel the urge to move away.
Ford’s gaze locked onto hers, his breath hitching at their closeness. He couldn’t believe what was happening—she was making him melt. He didn’t fully understand what was drawing him in, but one thing was certain—he wanted to kiss her. Right now. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
His eyes drifted to her soft, pink lips, glistening slightly. The scent of her skin filled his senses, making his desire for her even stronger.
One of his hands rested on her back, holding her close, while the other remained free. Slowly, he reached up, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, revealing her delicate face.
Their eyes stayed locked in an unspoken exchange.
Ford expected her to pull away, to break the moment. But she didn’t. She just stared back at him, her deep eyes full of something he couldn’t quite name.
Was she waiting for him to make a move?
His heart pounded as he debated whether to close the distance between them. He didn’t want to do anything that might ruin the mood or push her away. Yet, the way she looked at him—like he was the only thing in the room that mattered—wasn’t making it any easier to hold back.
Testing his luck, he leaned in ever so slightly.
Elena didn’t move. She didn’t resist. Instead, she closed her eyes.
Ford smiled, his pulse quickening.
Her reaction told him everything.
She wanted this too .
Encouraged, he leaned in further, their noses brushing. Elena flinched slightly, her body tensing in anticipation.
Ford tightened his hold on her, steadying her.
To soothe her nerves, he pressed a gentle kiss against her forehead. Then, slowly, he moved down, placing another soft kiss on the tip of her nose.
Elena’s breath hitched.
His lips traveled lower, brushing against her cheek.
She gripped onto him even tighter.
She knew where he was heading next. And she wasn’t stopping him. She knew she wanted it.
Ford leaned in closer, his lips just brushing against Elena’s when a sudden knock interrupted them. She barely had a second to savor the warmth of his lips and the tenderness of his touch before the moment was shattered.
Without hesitation, Elena pulled away, her breath uneven as she tried to steady herself. Ford watched her closely, noticing the panic in her expression. He knew the knock had unsettled her.
To him, it was nothing. If she hadn’t moved, he would have gladly continued kissing her. "You didn’t have to jump away," he said calmly. "The door won’t open unless I allow it—or unless it’s Dr. Charles." He hoped his reassurance would ease her nerves.
The knock came again, firmer this time. Frustrated, Ford sighed. "Come in," he said, his voice laced with irritation.
His frustration turned into shock when the door swung open, revealing his father, his father’s second wife, and their son, Frederick.
"What are you all doing here?" Ford demanded, his tone sharp.
His father raised an eyebrow. "Is that how you greet your family?" he asked. "Shouldn’t you welcome us first?"
Ford crossed his arms, unimpressed.
His father continued, his voice softer. "You are my son, Ford. Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?" Concern was evident in his expression.
Ford let out a short, bitter laugh. "Oh, so now you care?" His gaze darkened as he shook his head. "How many times do I have to say this? If you ever want to visit me or do anything for me, stop bringing them along." He gestured toward his father’s wife and Frederick. "Are they really that jobless?"
Tension filled the room as his words hung in the air.
"I don’t even think he’s really sick," Frederick scoffed. "Even lying in a hospital bed, he still doesn’t know how to respect his elders. I’ve had enough of this."
He looked Ford up and down with a disgusted expression before turning away. Without another word, he walked off, not even noticing the glass of water near him.
Elena watched the scene unfold, her heart pounding. Everything had happened so fast—it hadn’t even been thirty seconds since Frederick stormed out when another knock came.
She sighed, exhaustion washing over her. Then, another knock followed.
"Oh yes Mr Johnson is here" Fords father added.
His words startled her.
Elena’s eyes welled up with tears. She wasn’t ready for more problems and go crown it all Her step sister Jane was in involved.
Elena hide her face, just to make sure jane doesn’t see her . She had a thought to leave but it was already late they were at the door.
