The Birth of A Volleyball Legend-Chapter 406: Win the Game!
"Come on, Jimmy! That is what I am asking for!" Riku roared, high-fiving his senpai excitedly.
"Rano, since when could you do that kind of attack?! That is a nasty spike, you know?!" The others also followed, not forgetting to praise the min executioner for the attack.
"Come on, everyone! This is our home! Let's get it done quickly!"
The atmosphere on Tsunemori's side was lively as everyone was jumping in excitement from the last play. Ogawa as the main preparator himself could feel his face flushed red as he was too excited to think and proceed about what just happened. One thing for sure, though, was that he managed to establish his position as the third member of their team's combination duo, and in the future, his name would resound more throughout the country.

For most of the people inside the building, this lay also basically killed the game. They could see the spirit slowly ebbing away from Oyama High's side as their faces were full of frustration. The comeback from Tsunemori High in the first set really became a rude awakening for them all who thought they had a chance to win this game.
Unfortunately, no matter how they felt right now, the game had to go on, and since they had already used their timeout before, they had to readjust quickly if they didn't want to lose the game so badly.
"Come on, Kaed! Give us a good one!"
Kaede, who was going to serve the next ball, took a deep breath, waiting for the referee to blow the whistle before sending it to the other side of the court. The ball was pretty ordinary, without good strength or even a tricky route to make a problem for Oyama High. As a result, the opponent picked the ball up easily before launching a quick counterattack to return the favor.
BAM!
"One touch!" Hirano shouted as he reacted in time, softening the blow for his teammates to follow up the play.
"Oh! Nice one, Rano!"
Riku! Left!"
Everyone still put their attention on Riku as inside their mind, they only recognized Riku – and probably Yuki to some extent – as the team's main setter. They forgot that a moment ago, Ogawa just stepped up his game and filled up the shoes left by Yuki, and the 'ordinary' senpai did his job well this time by taking over the ball, setting it up to Riku who had already been in the air two seconds ago.
"Nice pass, Jimmy!"
With a huge grin on his face, Riku recoiled his right hand to gather his strength before unleashing it as much as he could, hitting the ball with full power. Oyama High's captain jumped in an attempt to stop the attack, but he was two seconds too late as Riku had already unleashed the ball before he could even reach his highest point. As a result, the ball flew through his wall, piercing the team's defense before it fell behind the players on the back row and so close to the baseline.
BAM!
"Oh! Hell, yeah!" Riku grinned, pointing his finger to Ogawa. "Nice pass, Jimmy-senpai! A bit too wide, but still within my reach! Make sure you adjust it for me the next time, okay? Don't forget to see my position before sending the pass!" Even though the quality of the pass itself was okay, as the team's main setter, Riku had the obligation to give constructive criticism so that Ogawa could improve himself better in the future.
"Fuck, that is easier said than to be done, Riku! You know I have to do a lot of things in that split seconds!" Ogawa replied wryly.
"Eh, don't worry, you will get used to it soon." Riku just shrugged nonchalantly at that.
Ogawa could only shake his head bitterly as he heard Riku's last comment. However, as he was starting to get used to being Riku's partner in crime, the appreciation he felt toward Yuki also grew astronomically. He experienced it himself how hard it was to keep up with Riku's crazy style.
He had to keep his eyes all the time on the blonde boy not only to see where he was before sending an accurate pass like the boy wanted, but also to see if the boy had a subtle signal to use the quick as bait and went for another play. This had to be done in just one second or even less, and for Ogawa who was still trying to get used to his role as a setter, doing that was like a mission impossible.
He had to give a hat-off to Yuki who was able to do that after only learning how to play this game for less than a year.
As time went by, though, their lead also started to get wider. There might be several occasions where Oyama High managed to score one or two from the open play, but it was clear that their fighting spirit was gone already. They just treated this game as a normal sparing, trying to cherish every moment in this game before everything was over for them.
All the Tsunemori players couldn't fault that mentality. After all, they were also in the same place last year where they were in the slump and every game felt like a hell mode in a survival game. Moreover, with the opponent stopped trying hard, they also started to get relaxed, preserving their energy so that they could avoid any unnecessary injury.
However, as the game was coming to an end, the supporters started to get restless, shouting from their place for Tsunemori High to stop playing around and end this game quickly.
"Come on, Riku! Ogawa! Just end this!"
"Stop playing around and seal the deal!"
Riku who heard that could only smile helplessly as it was definitely not as easy as what the supporters said. However, the voices from the outside of the court were right. They were currently on the lead, and the gap itself was pretty big. If they didn't seal this win as quickly as possible, this would risk the team's entire mentality, and that was not to mention the unnecessary injury risk that could be caused by prolonging this game too far.
So, with that in mind, Riku hid one of his hands on the back, making a quick signal for Ogawa and the other players to fasten their belts and ready to go all out for the last time.
True enough, once they started to increase the tempo, the opponent also had to struggle to keep up with them. One point after another kept going for Tsunemori High, and it wasn't until the attack from the opponent on the left side where Hirano and Asahi followed perfectly before blocking the ball straight to the opponent's court that the game was finally over.
