The Bizarre Wizarding World-Chapter 755 - 457: New Means
Chapter 755: Chapter 457: New Means
Golden Barley Wizard Tower.
Colin stood by the window and suddenly knitted his brows. What should have been an ordinary cold wind carried a scent of abnormality to him.
Whoosh! freёnovelkiss.com
He unfolded his World Perception, and the night sky above was immediately covered with a layer of grey-blue luminescence, indicating that a downpour was imminent.
"How could this be? The sky was clear when I sensed it earlier today!"
Colin’s heart sank abruptly.
This rain was certainly not normal!
Colin hastened to Claire’s room and knocked at the door.
"What is it?"
After a pause, Claire opened the door and asked, holding the Great Councilman’s badge, seemingly looking at something.
Colin glanced at it unconsciously.
"The Divine of the Doric Coast is currently launching a major attack, and the Supreme Council is urgently calling for more wizards to provide support."
Noticing Colin’s gaze, Claire looked up and explained, "There’s a lot of pressure at the front lines, and once the spring harvest on the Tilaimei Plain is over, I’m afraid I’ll have to rush to the front."
"Is it related to those approaching Black Towers?"
"It’s still not very clear, but indeed, wizards on the battlefield have observed those Black Towers currently emitting a misty array of lights."
Colin frowned slightly, wondering if the cold wind... could be related to those Black Towers?
"So, why have you come to find me, Colin?"
"Lady Claire, please come with me," Colin said, suppressing his guess and leading Claire to the window.
"What’s wrong?"
"This wind... have you felt it? It’s going to rain on the Tilaimei Plain."
"Rain..." Claire didn’t grasp immediately and asked back with confusion. Then she suddenly paused, "This rain, is it somehow peculiar?"
"I’m afraid so. Based on my observations from the past few days, the weather should have been clear for at least half a month," said Colin, gazing out the window with a heavy tone.
Claire glanced at him and then quickly flew out of the Wizard Tower.
Colin followed close behind.
Whoosh!
A white light rapidly emerged from around Claire and then swiftly converged towards her eyes, turning her originally red pupils into a dazzling pure white.
Claire looked up at the night sky. The clouds overhead were not yet thick, just a wispy layer had gathered, allowing the silver moonlight to sprinkle through the sporadic gaps.
Colin waited quietly by her side, thought for a moment, and again employed his World Perception.
The night sky above was still covered with a grey-blue color, the only difference being deeper than before, indicating that rain was even closer to falling.
"This cloud layer... doesn’t seem to have anything unusual."
However, after a moment, Claire turned back and spoke with doubt.
"It’s just the most common type of cumulonimbus cloud... Maybe it’s just by chance that it’s going to rain."
"You didn’t find anything abnormal, Lady Claire?" Colin’s heart sank a bit further.
Compared to Claire, he certainly trusted his perception ability granted by the World Will.
"Nothing for now," Claire shook her head, then hesitantly asked with curiosity, "If it’s just raining, what impact will it have on the spring harvest?"
As she spoke, she suddenly felt somewhat embarrassed...
Before coming here, she had only skimmed through some basic information about the spring harvest in Tilamei, knowing the optimal time for wheat harvesting and the minimum duration required for the spring harvest...
But the impact of rainfall on the wheat harvest, she truly did not know.
’Before, I said I could handle everything in Tilamei... but now I don’t even know the impact of rain on the wheat harvest, Claire ah Claire... remember to prepare more thoroughly next time!’ Claire muttered to herself.
"This rain is too sudden; it comes neither earlier nor later, but rather, during the harvest. Moreover, I saw clear skies in the evening, and there’s no rain expected for several days... Lady Claire, please check again."
Colin did not reply, but continued.
"Alright." Claire nodded, agreeable.
Better to err on the side of caution than doubt, especially with such an important matter as the spring harvest—excessive caution was no fault.
Nevertheless, she felt somewhat more relaxed, and while using other methods to check, she hesitated slightly and casually asked, "So what impact will rain have on the spring harvest?"
Colin looked at her, his gaze ordinary, but Claire still felt somewhat uncomfortable.
Fortunately, her mask concealed her expression, so she wasn’t worried about Colin noticing.
"Ordinary, brief rain won’t have too much of an impact; at most, it will slightly delay the harvest for a day or two," Colin explained briefly as he watched the clouds in the sky gather, a touch of anxiety in his voice: "But if it is prolonged and overcast, it will greatly affect the crop yield."
Since ancient times, there’s an alternative saying for farming—dependent on the whims of the heavens for one’s livelihood.
Weather is an extremely crucial element in agricultural production. Continuous rainfall severely affects the wheat harvest, causing the wheat to lodge which increases the difficulty of harvesting, and if the rain persists, the wheat can become soaked, germinate, or even rot.
And, as for what this strange cloud layer above was brewing, whether it was simply rain... no one was certain.
"I still haven’t found anything unusual." While Colin was explaining, Claire cast various spells in succession, the brilliance of witchcraft flickering repeatedly to no avail.
She exhaled, shook her head at Colin, and said, "However, if you are concerned, I can attempt to disperse this cloud."
Colin was slightly taken aback, then nodded, "That would be much appreciated, Lady Claire."
