The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 314: A Toast to Happy Future
Emily, Kaiden, and Shadow sat around the little dining table and enjoyed the delicious dinner that the two men had prepared. It was the first time when both the men had joined hands to cook something for her and Emily was more than enjoying the meal as it tasted really good.
"This feels like heaven." She commented as she finished the vanilla ice cream and relaxed in her seat while closing her eyes. She really felt at peace at that moment, her soul, body, and heart, all seemed to be happy and content, a feeling that was hard to experience.
"There are only two bedrooms in my apartment. Who’s going to share the bed with me tonight?" Kaiden’s question made her open her eyes and look in the direction of the two men.
She waited for them to come to some sort of conclusion as she wasn’t bothered about sleeping with either of them or all alone as long as she would get to sleep. However, she quickly realized that they were waiting for her to speak and probably make the decision too.
"Why me?" She asked as she straightened in her seat and thought about how to handle the issue. "I think I have a great plan." She finally said after a few moments, her eyes probably sparkling in delight.
"What is it?" Kaiden asked as he looked at her with an equal amount of interest as she was showing about her idea.
"Let’s play rock-paper-scissor. Whoever will win the first round will get the room all to themselves." She revealed her idea and watched the way Kaiden and Shadow both raised their eyebrows at her suggestion.
She returned their look and waited for them to finally open their mouth and say something, something that won’t insult her idea.
"I think it’s a pretty good idea. Let’s do it." Shadow was the first one to show his support and it made Kaiden immediately turn his question gaze at him.
"It really does sound like a good idea to me," Shadow said in his defense as he shared a look with Emily.
Kaiden let out a small sigh before he too slowly gave a little nod of his head, also agreeing with the idea. "Fine by me if you both say so."
They all straightened in their seats as they prepared for the battle that was going to decide their fate for the night.
"I’ll say it..." Emily told the men as she prepared her right hand to not only join the battle but also to win it. "Rock, paper, scissors!"
"Yes!" The victory shout came almost immediately as she jumped up from her seat and bumped her hand lightly against the table. "I’m gonna sleep alone and you both are welcome to share a bed."
Both Shadow and Kaiden let out sighs but neither protested. They just look at each other for a fleeting moment before they stood up from their seats and started cleaning up the dining table.
The smile on Emily’s lips disappeared as she stared at the two men with suspicion-filled eyes. This calmness wasn’t what she was expecting from them. "Just like that? You both are okay with the idea?"
Kaiden stopped for a moment as he turned to look at Shadow. "To be honest, I won’t mind." He then turned his gaze at her as he continued, "But I’ll definitely love it if you can change places with him."
Emily gave him a huge smile before she turned away only to end up in Shadow’s arm. The man wrapped his arms around her and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before speaking, "Go and get some sleep, Kaiden, and I’ll take care of all this."
She quickly shook her head in resistance. "No way. You guys didn’t let me help with the cooking and now you want me to rest while you both will do all the cleaning. That’s not acceptable at all. I will also help you guys."
She tried to move around the man but got stopped as he pulled her back to stand in front of him. "It’s already pretty late and we have to wake up before sunrise to return to the mansion and then you have your training classes. So, go and get some rest. You can always make it up to us next time."
Kaiden moved to stand behind her as he wrapped one of his hands across her shoulders and whispered in her ear, "He’s right, angel. You should get some sleep."
Emily lost the battle as soon as both the men decided to join their hands. Besides, her mind was now more focused on the fact that she was literally sandwiched between them instead of the original topic they were discussing.
"Fine! I’ll listen to you guys this once." She hurriedly muttered before stepping away from the cage that they had formed around her with their muscular bodies. "Good night." She whispered before heading straight to the stairs leading upstairs to her bedroom.
On the other hand, Kaiden and Shadow busied themselves with cleaning up the dining table and the kitchen. It took them over glad an hour to finish the task.
They both headed to the living room with a wine bottle and glasses. "She’s gonna hate us for not inviting her," Kaiden said with a smile playing on his lips as he stared at the wine bottle in his hand.
"But she needs to sleep," Shadow added as he placed the glasses on the coffee table and took a seat on the long couch.
Kaiden also joined him as he let out a sigh while nodding his head, "Right, she should sleep. She has a long battle to fight."
He opened the bottle and poured the wine into the glasses before licking up one of them while handing the other one to him. "Let’s try to live happily together." He said while raising his glass for a toast.
"Let’s try," Shadow added as he clinked their glasses together before taking a sip of the wine.
