Chapter 365: The Fae Stone

Domenic didn’t answer immediately and took a while to assemble his thoughts before finally speaking, "Maybe... I have gotten used to keeping my distance and living on my own. His presence... it scares me that I will end up either disappointing him or myself."

A smile appeared on Emily’s lips as she realized that, unlike her guess, the only thing holding back Domenic from opening up to Aleron was his insecurities. She thought that he was still tied with his duties toward his family but it seemed like he had finally realized that his siblings had grown up and he no longer had to protect them all the time.

"Why are you smiling?" Domenic asked when he noticed the shift in her expression.

"You remind me of my past self," Emily said as she recalled the memories from the past and her smile became bigger. "I too gave Kaiden quite a hard time when he was pursuing me. Or you can relate this to when I had a really hard time opening up to you all because of my insecurities when I first arrived here."

A smile made its way to Domenic’s lips as he too recalled the past.

"You are in your thirties and still new to relationships. It’s understandable that you have insecurities. It will need constant work on both your and Aleron’s end to make things work between you two..."

"Didn’t know a little kid like you could be so mature."

The familiar voice belonged to none other than Aleron who appeared out of nowhere and settled down next to a very surprised Domenic.

"Maybe you should stop seeing me as a kid then," Emily suggested while giving the Fae King a very unimpressed look.

"But you are a kid." Aleron didn’t even miss a beat before stating what he believed was pretty obvious.

Emily let out a sigh of defeat before she stood up to take her leave. It was almost impossible for her and the Fae King to have a normal conversation. Every time they talked, they mostly ended up quarreling. "I shall leave you two to talk. I have guests to attend." She didn’t even spare a single glance toward Domenic who was begging her with his eyes to not leave him alone with Aleron.

She hurriedly walked away from the two men and found Claire who was playing around with Mark and Simon.

"Emy!" The little girl squealed happily when she noticed Emily walking toward her. During their vacation the previous weekend, the two of them decided that calling Emily Aunt made her sound way too old, so Claire would call Emily the same way as most of the people around her did.

"Are these two bullying you, Claire?" Emily asked as she crouched down and pulled the girl into her arms.

"Don’t tarnish our reputation like that, dear sister," Mark said as he picked up Claire into his arms while Simon wrapped his arm around Emily as she stood up to face her brother and Claire.

"You need one to lose one, big bro," Emily remarked with a smile that said she was fully aware that she just won the fight.

While Mark rolled his eyes, Simon let out a whistle. "That was pretty nice, Em." He complimented and even gave her a little high-five.

"I feel like Daniel is an angel. He keeps bringing really important people into our lives." It was Leo who spoke as he and Rylan joined their little group of four. They even brought a tray full of ice cream cups. "Back then, he was the one who picked up Emily from the airport and brought her home, and now he’s bringing Annika and Claire into our family."

"Totally agree," Mark said as he offered a chocolate ice cream to Claire who was buzzing with happiness and excitement.

The siblings chatted for a while before Emily was pulled away from them by Sam who introduced her to some of the old friends of her family who had joined the party.

As the evening unfolded, conversations and laughter filled the air. Emily took turns chatting with almost every guest which didn’t give her much time to spend with Kaiden who had chosen a secluded corner in the garden along with Mr. Kim.

Shadow had been mostly busy with Irene, Lauren, Ralph, and a group of specially trained Blood guards as they all had taken responsibility for the protection during the birthday party. Along with the vampires, the werewolves were also guarding the Alessandro mansion.

Midnight finally arrived and Emily found herself cutting the huge cake as everyone cheered and wished her a happy birthday. She soon lost the count of gifts she got but she loved those that she received from her brothers and friends.

Claire gave her a cute birthday card that she made herself, along with a pastry that she and Annika baked together.

She even received a very unexpected present from Aleron - a fae stone. It carried the essence of all magical elements inside it and along with that, it also carried the blood of all previous monarchs of the Fae Realm. According to rumors, every ruling Seelie King or Queen possessed a Fae Stone passed by their ancestors. It was a rare and powerful treasure.

"Why are you giving me something so precious?" Emily asked as she pulled Aleron into a far corner of the garden once she found out what he had gifted her.

"Keep it, kid. You will need it to explore the full potential of your powers. Since you carry elemental magic in your blood, a fae stone is the best way for you to cultivate your magic. Besides, I’m not giving it to you permanently. Return it to me once you finish your training period with me." Aleron looked way too calm for someone who had just handed out one of their most powerful treasure to someone else.

"Is this a perk for being the pampered sister of your mate?" Emily asked in a whispered voice and watched as a smirk curved the corner of the fae king’s lips. He winked at her and affirmed, "As long as it doesn’t go to waste." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Angel."

The familiar voice of Kaiden pulled Emily’s attention toward him as he walked toward her and Aleron.

"I will leave you two alone to talk," Aleron whispered as he took his leave and walked away.

Kaiden was soon standing right in front of Emily. He was about to speak when Emily surprised him with a sudden hug. A smile curved the corners of his lips as he wrapped his arms around his mate and pulled her into his arms.

"This is why I don’t like such big birthday parties. I didn’t even get to spend time with my beloved boyfriend." Emily complained as she pulled away from the hug and looked at him.

Kaiden smiled warmly at her as he answered, "And for that very reason, your brothers organized this grand party."
