The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 381: Nightmare or Reality
A week later
~ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐น.๐๐ ๐
Heavy fog was hiding the top of the cliff, deep in the mountains, where the secret villa of Silver Moon Pack was located. Everything was covered in a thick layer of snow after the heavy snowfall the previous night. The air was chilling outside but the inside of the villa was filled with warmth and coziness.
Emily came out of the shower and headed downstairs where she found Shadow making his way upstairs. As the two came across, she received the good news he wanted to tell her immediately - after the constant fighting for a week, Kaiden and his men finally took down a group of the rogue army. Not only that but they had also reclaimed the northern cities that the rogue army took over after their initial attacks.
"We can finally join him," Shadow told her and Emily immediately found herself brimming with happiness and relief, but along with it, there was also fear residing deep within her. No matter how much she tried, she wasnโt able to shake off that bad feeling.
They didnโt waste much time and the very next morning, the two of them set out to join Kaiden and his pack. The journey was fraught with danger, as they navigated through territory ravaged by the roguesโ attacks.
The city where Kaiden and his men had taken shelter was recently targeted by the rogues, and the attack left behind a trail of destruction that tore at Emilyโs heart as she watched the heart-wrenching view of the streets that were empty and only carried the aftermath of the worst war their world had seen in past few centuries.
Ever since the supernatural and the humans formed a peace treaty two hundred years ago, there had been peace in their world except for some occasional disputes that were mostly between the supernatural clans. This was the first time ever since the establishment of the peace treaty that the human race was facing the wrath of these battles.
Emily was filled with relief when she watched several familiar faces once she entered the building where Kaiden and his men had taken shelter. Rylan was the first one to hug her and looking at her best friend, she could tell that the past week had changed him quite a bit. He suddenly looked more like an alpha wolf instead of a usual wolf who was busy enjoying his youth till a couple of days ago.
"How big is this building? Can it handle a couple of more people here?" Shadow asked as he looked around the area while studying it.
"How many?" Kaiden asked as he secured one of his arms around Emily and pulled her by his side.
"Around three hundred or so," Shadow replied and the number left everyone shocked.
"Three hundred? Where are so many people coming from?" Bryan, Kaidenโs beta, asked.
"They are my people," Shadow answered as if he was talking about what he was going to eat for dinner and not about three hundred vampires. "They will be joining you in this battle against the rogues."
The werewolves were clearly surprised but in a good way. Vampires were one of the most powerful supernatural clans and their assistance in the battle would only make their side stronger against the rogues. However, there was a problem - the wolves and the vampires hadnโt worked together in ages.
As if Shadow read the tension, he added, "You all donโt have to worry. I am giving you all my word, my people will not cause any trouble. There will be no tricks or backstabbing. You can trust my side."
As if his confirmation was exactly what the wolves needed, they all started cheering. Kaiden too gave Shadow a respectful pat on the shoulder before adding, "Thank you, Shadow."
"You donโt need to thank me, Kaiden. We both know that the rogue army had vampires with them too. Itโs only fair for me to help you in taking care of the mess that our people have created together." Shadow replied and received an understanding nod in return from Kaiden.
After discussing for a little bit longer, it was finally decided that the building next door would be used for the vampires. As if the vampires were waiting for the werewolvesโ approval, they arrived at the city in no time.
That night after dinner, Kaiden left the room once Emily was fast asleep. He met Shadow and some of the high-ranking people from his pack and Shadowโs clan to strategize for the battles ahead.
While the men were busy and completely unaware of the danger lurking nearby for the perfect chance, the enemy finally made its move. No one noticed the cloud of dark smoke-like thing that entered the building and made its way upstairs. It escaped everyoneโs eyes and swiftly entered a room without alerting anyone.
The room in which that dark energy entered was none other than the one where Emily was currently sleeping. One moment, she was fast asleep and the very next moment, she found herself ensnared in the clutches of a very familiar nightmare.
She recognized the voices, the smell, the darkness, the sinister laughter, and the presence of dread in the air. She recognized the silver chains that were cutting into her skin and the cold floor of her cell. She was back in the dungeon of her childhood, once again surrounded by darkness and despair.
She tried to shake her head as if she could get rid of the nightmare in that way. She struggled, and fought physically to save herself, and miraculously, she succeeded in getting out of the nightmare.
Her eyes flew open and she was expecting to find herself back in the bed where Kaiden left her not so in ago, only... she found herself trapped once again, this time in the physical realm. The dungeon of her nightmares had become a chilling reality, and Emily knew that she was in grave danger.
As she struggled against her bonds, a voice echoed in the darkness. "Welcome back, Emilia. Iโve been expecting you."
