The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 385: The War (Part Two)
Emily’s sudden attack from above took the rogues by complete surprise. But before they could have prepared themselves to get out of her way, her twin daggers were already slicing through two of the rogues, taking both of them down in mere seconds.
Despite slightly surprised to see her there, Rylan didn’t waste any time as he ended the life of the third rogue. Despite being surrounded by three rogues at the same time, the younger Sullivan was still in his human form.
"Em! Thank goodness you are alright." He whispered while pulling her into a tight hug. Pulling back from the hug, he asked, "What really happened though? Kaiden said you were gone when he and Shadow went to check on you."
"It’s a long story, Ry. I will tell you about it later. Where are Shadow and Kaiden?" Emily asked and immeditely noticed a shadow moving toward Rylan from the periphery of her vision. Calling out her powers, she sent a powerful force of her energy toward the rogue, taking it down in one single move.
Rylan merely passed a quick look at the now dead rogue before he returned his attention to Emily and answered, "As soon as they found out about your absence, they called our combined units to go and search for you. But the attack happened even before we could have stepped out of this building. There was a man who led the army of rogues. He appeared and then immeditely ran away as soon as the fight started. Both Kaiden and Shadow went after him. I think he led them away on purpose."
Emiky didn’t need to see the man to know who he was. "We need to find them quickly." There was urgency in her voice and Ryaln immeditely nodded his head in understanding.
"Then you should go and find them."
The familiar voice that suddenly entered Emily’s ears almost made her heart stop beating for a moment. Panic and shock took over her as she turned her head and found herself looking at six very familiar faces.
"What are you all doing here?" She demanded and watched as instead of answering, some of the men took out guns and started shooting at the rogues. She noticed how one single bullet was enough to take down both the werewolves and vampires, and she realized that the guns carried silver bullets in them.
"See! We can be helpful in this war too. Stop worrying about us, Emily. All your brothers know how to handle these guns much better than these rogues could attack. Go and find your mates." Domenic said as he came to stand right in front of her.
So he knew. Emily thought when she heard him saying mates instead of mate. A part of her wanted to protest, to get angry at him for taking such a big risk by coming there. She couldn’t help but worry for their safety, but as she looked around at the six men who were very dear to her, she knew that none of them had any plan of leaving her there all alone. They loved her just as much as she loved them.
Moving forward, she pulled Domenic into a tight hug. "Primise me that you will keep all six of you alive and safe. Give me your word, Nick." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Her brother hugged her tightly and nodded his head before adding, "I promise, Em. I promise to not let you down. I will keep all six of us safe."
"Don’t worry too much. I won’t let anything happen to them." The familiar voice belonged to Aleron as he arrived there with his group of fae warriors who immeditely spread around to take care of the remaining rogues.
Pulling away from Domenic, Emily turned her piercing gaze at Aleron as she spoke in a deadly tone. "Just you wait. I will deal with you once we are done with this mess."
Despite being the powerful king of the Fae Realm, Aleron indeed looked a little bit terrified as he heard the warning and the ferocity in Emily’s eyes. Maybe relenting to his mate’s request wasn’t that good of a decision. But it was already too late. If his little sister-in-law decided to take revenge, he planned to use Domenic as his shield.
"Go now." Domenic told her as he took out his gun as well before moving forward to join the battle.
Taking one last quick look at her brothers who were already deep into the battle, she moved to leave the building when she saw Rylan returning to her side after he was done talking to Leo.
"I’m coming with you, Em." He told and Emily nodded her head in approval. The two of them wasted no time as they made their way toward the entrance of the building. They met several rogues on their way and swiftly took them down with perfect teamwork. Since the two of them used to train together during their Academy years, they had perfect understanding of each other’s combat skills, and that knowledge was proving to be really helpful at the moment as the two of them worked together.
"Can you track them? I’m having trouble picking on Kaiden’s smell because of how many werewolves are currently present in the city." Rylan asked after he failed to track down his brother’s scent. It seemed like the entire city was swarming with the rogues and their number wasn’t decreasing despite how many had been already killed. Good thing was, they too had huge numbers of warriors on their side.
Emily closed her eyesand focused on her connection with Kaiden and Shadow. Unlike before, the mate links immeditely responded and allowed herto track their location without any trouble.
Opening her eyes, she spoke. "I know where they are. Let’s go." She didn’t allow Rylan to move before she took hold of his arm and teleported him away to the neighboring city which was filled with silence and emptiness... and death.
