The Broken Halo-Chapter 141: Fighting Against Devour?
The appearance of the shadow cocoon around Thorgan was sudden and its speed was also not fast.
Simon was stunned by the fact that Thorgan was still able to not only move but even manipulate his shadow.
He had stabbed his heart, and stabbing the heart of demons, especially demons who were Fiends and below was very lethal.
Normally, Fiends, Lesser Demons, and unawakened demons would die immediately from a stab to the heart.
But Thorgan was still alive even after a minute had passed, and it was shocking.
’Could it be his royal bloodline? Sigh... Demons with royal bloodlines are truly annoying to deal with. They have the most absurd abilities ever.’
Despite the sudden surprise he got when Thorgan’s shadow encased him in a cocoon, Simon’s expression remained calm even after Thorgan’s words.
He could see Thorgan’s hate-filled eyes staring at him as the cocoon covered him and as he sank into the unknown shadow on the floor.
His left hand moved, and the Chaos Wraps around his arm shot at Thorgan at an extremely fast speed, wrapping itself around the cocoon encasing Thorgan.
Thorgan’s pupils constricted as his instincts warned him.
He pulled his arm back, and because he was stronger than before after devouring Pellin and his family members, he was able to pull Thorgan toward him by a little bit.
Blaze
The Chaos Blade suddenly ignited with black flames, and a moment later...
The Chaos Blade flew and pierced through the shadow cocoon, then Thorgan’s head.
Thorgan’s head snapped back due to the force Simon used when controlling the Chaos Blade with his mind.
The light in Thorgan’s eyes dimmed, and his head fell to the back with the Chaos Blade piercing through it.
The shadow cocoon turned to smoke and vanished, and Simon used the Chaos Wraps to gently place Thorgan on the floor.
With the Chaos Wraps still wrapped around Thorgan, he approached him and made sure he was dead before removing the Chaos Wraps around him.
Simon stared at Thorgan’s corpse for some seconds, then he released a deep sigh.
"You shouldn’t have followed me, Thorgan. I never planned on killing you."
He crouched, then he placed his right hand on Thorgan’s stabbed heart.
"Haven’t you heard the saying that curiosity killed the cat?... Ohh. Wait... I’m a demon cat, so I guess the cat killed the curious shadow. What a turn of events... What a sad turn of events."
With a light smile of mockery and sadness, he didn’t hesitate to use Devour on Thorgan.
Killing Thorgan came with a lot more trouble than he planned on dealing with.
The biggest and closest problem was the Shadowgrave Clan.
Killing Pellin was definitely going to cause a ripple in the clan, and though he was not fully prepared for the consequences, he believed that he was prepared enough to avoid the consequences of killing Pellin.
However, Pellin’s wife and child arrived, and this led to him killing three members of the clan.
Because of the connections, backers, and job Pellin had, Pellin and his family were not slaves of the clan despite not being assassins.
As a slave of the clan, he had killed three clan members who were technically his masters. This was a grave offense by the clan’s rules.
And now, what he did was a lot worse.
He had killed an Initiate with a Royal Bloodline.
The Clan definitely knew what bloodline grade each Initiate had, and Thorgan was definitely one of the Initiates the Clan were focusing on and high hopes for.
This was a child who had the potential to become a Demon King and replace their clan leader, but he had killed and destroyed this dream of some clan members.
With the fact that Thorgan was the ’first placed’ candidate, this showed that Thorgan’s potential was not low.
Even if he had done far more than the clan expected, he was not only a slave, but he was a slave with a Supreme Common Bloodline.
And he was also a hybrid.
These factors, especially his bloodline grade, could never make the clan value him more than they valued Thorgan.
Unless he made tremendous achievements that either matched or triumphed every other achievements of his classmates in the future, he would always be seen as a usable slave.
He had killed not one, not two, not three, but four clan members. And each of them were technically his masters.
Simon knew that once the clan realized that Pellin, his family, and Thorgan were dead, it would waves across the clan.
Investigations would follow, and he was certain that he’d be a suspect.
The plans he had was to escape the consequences of killing Pellin, not his family and Thorgan.
But such was life.
When had life ever gone the way he wanted?
But just like he said before, he would stop complaining about how unfair life was, and he’d adapt to it.
He’d adapt and counter whatever life threw it at him, all so that he could reach the top.
Simon’s eyes flashed with a cold light as he thought of the possible scenarios that could occur in the coming hours, days, and even weeks.
But this was just at the back of his mind. What he was really focusing on, was devouring Thorgan.
Devouring Thorgan who he regarded as a friend than an acquaintance could be seen as an evil deed.
And Simon would not deny it in the slightest.
However, there was no way he was going to stop himself from devouring Thorgan all because of morals.
Since he chose to kill Thorgan and stab him in the back, then why would he not take the only benefit that came from doing this?
Since he started, he’d definitely reach the end.
He was ready to become a devil amongst demons.
Morals be damned if they couldn’t help him to reach the peak.
However, Simon was facing a predicament he never expected to face when devouring Thorgan.
"This guy... Is he fighting against Devour?"
