The Broken Halo-Chapter 226: Interrogator Zebos
Simon did not resist the arrest and he willingly followed the two Shadow Blades.
The Initiates of the academy whispered in disbelief and shock at the words of the Shadow Blades, and many stopped what they were doing and stared at Simon as he walked in between two Shadow Blades.
The only thing that made it a little bit better for Simon was the fact that his hands were not cuffed or in chains.
But nevertheless, rumors began to spread as quickly as the wind.
Especially amongst his classmates.
A few instructors watched this scene from their respective offices, and they could not help but shake their heads.
This was Simon’s second day in the academy and third day in the clan, and so many events had occurred in just these three days.
They couldn’t believe just how much of a troublemaker Simon was.
Eventually, Simon was taken to another Interrogation Room. But this time around, the Interrogation Room was not in the academy but in the clan itself.
A clan Interrogator sat opposite Simon in a dim room.
The Investigator was wearing a human skull mask, and Simon felt a little bit strange seeing the human skull.
As for him?
He was not allowed to wear a mask in this interrogation.
In his previous interrogation with Interrogator Radan, the issue was minor and he was still allowed to wear his mask, but in this case, he was told to remove his mask the moment he entered the Grave Investigation Hall.
Simon gazed at the Interrogator with a calm expression, and the Interrogator’s black eyes also stared into his sky blue eyes with a calculating glint.
A few seconds of tense silence passed, then the Interrogator spoke.
"My name is Zebos. You can call me Interrogator Zebos or just Zebos."
"Alright, Interrogator Zebos." Simon nodded calmly, choosing what he preferred to call the Interrogator.
Interrogator Zebos nodded slightly, then he spoke.
"Were you told of your crimes before coming here?"
Simon shook his head. "I was told I was a person of interest in the murder of Initiate Shadow. I have committed no crime."
Interrogator Zebos’ eyes flashed at Simon’s choice of words.
"Where were you three nights ago?" He asked.
"In my room after getting something to eat." Simon answered calmly.
Interrogator Zebos asked another question.
"Why did you request for Game Master Pellin’s information through the Intelligence Office?"
Simon still replied calmly. "Because he did unimaginable things to me. Because I hate him, and because I wanted revenge. I wanted to know who he was in the clan and how powerful he was so that I’ll know what I’m up against."
"If he was too powerful for me, then I might give up on my revenge. But if his rank was not too high, then I planned on working hard and having my revenge at all costs."
"That is why I asked for information on Pellin."
Zebos had a deep frown behind his mask when he heard Simon’s words.
He had expected Simon to come up with something else like maybe he was just curious, or maybe because somebody sent him to ask for the information.
Zebos did not know what he was expecting, but he didn’t expect Simon to confess that it was because he hated Pellin and wanted revenge on him.
He already knew what Pellin did to Simon, and he knew just how vicious, cruel, and disgusting Pellin, so it wasn’t a surprise to him that Simon would want his revenge on Pellin.
’If he actually killed Pellin, would he be willing to give us a reason as to why he killed the pig?’
’If he was guilty, would he admit his desire for revenge so easily?’
Zebos felt a slight headache, but he decided to continue his interrogation and push his questions aside.
There was still a lot to ask.
"Did you kill, Pellin?"
This time around, Simon’s eyes widened in disbelief and shock.
"Pellin is dead?"
Zebos narrowed his eyes at Simon’s reaction.
"We have not found a corpse yet, but he, his wife, and his son have been missing for three days now, making us-"
Before Zebos could even give finish his words, Simon suddenly jumped and shouted in joy.
"Yessssss!!!!!"
"Huh?" Zebos was stunned.
"I knew it! I fucking knew it! That bastard got what he deserved didn’t he?! He got it! And he died! He’s fucking dead!"
"I wish I was the one that killed him though! I wouldn’t mind going to jail as long as I killed him. But I don’t care!"
"That bastard should rot in the deepest parts of the flames of hell! I hate him! I hate him for all the things he did to me!"
"He did things to me, Investigator Zebos. Me! I was just fifteen when he tortured me in such cruel ways! I was traumatized!"
"I still think about that night! I find it extremely difficult to sleep sometimes. I can still feel the whips on my back."
Sniffle
Sniffle
To Zebos’ disbelief, tears of joy began to fall from Simon’s eyes.
"Thank you for bringing me this good news, Interrogator Zebos. Even if I die, my soul would be pleased that the one person I hate the most is dead and rotting in hell."
Simon wiped away his tears with the back of his sleeve, and Interrogator Zebos was lost for words.
This... he did not expect at all.
This was not in line with what he knew about Simon’s character at all.
He had done his investigations behind the scenes on Simon, and the Grave Lords gave him all the information he requested for because he was the head investigator of this case.
So, he knew everything the clan had on Simon.
And it was extensive and a lot.
He knew Simon to be a cold, vicious, calculating, and fearless Initiate.
From the moment he arrived before the Grave Lords to his actions in the trial, to everything he did in the academy and the clan.
He knew everything.
But how Simon behaved just now, was just so out of character and Zebos’ thoughts and plans were nearly sent out of the window.
