Chapter 322: 322: Pinch

Despite the activities of the previous day, time waited for no man or demon.

The following day came, and as usual, the First Year Initiates were woken up by the loud explosive sounds in front of their rooms.

All the Initiates were already used to this by now, so immediately they heard the sounds, they jumped from their beds and dashed out of the room.

The aim of this drill is to train the response of the Initiates in a situation of emergency, in a situation where there’s a sudden attack on the clan or even on the Initiates themselves in their rooms.

Due to this repeated drill, the response of the Initiates was much better compared to the first day.

And this time around, it was less chaotic.

Some Initiates were still attacked by their fellow classmates, but it was not as bad as before.

Those who had been punished for getting to the academy entrance feared being punished again, and they ran with all their might.

As for Simon?

None tried to attack him this time around.

This was their fourth day in the academy, and they would be fools to not realize that Simon was too powerful for them to defeat at the moment.

Instead of getting beaten by Simon and getting to the academy late as a result, they would rather not take the risk.

Besides, in four days, Simon had cemented himself as the king of the first years.

After everything that Simon has done to them, they decided to be patient and to wait till they were stronger than him.

After all, he was a hybrid and his strongest bloodline was only at the Common Grade.

With time, their bloodline talents would show and they would overtake Simon...or so they believed.

As usual, Simon reached the academy gates before the deadline.

Only six Initiates failed to arrive before the deadline this time around.

Instructor Valdin stood in front of them with his hands behind his back, then he walked into the academy.

After entering the academy, he spoke.

"Today, you’ll be having courses under the Mind Pillar."

"The first class you’ll have is Mental Partitioning. Then you’ll have the Emotional Suppression class, then Cognitive Warfare and Deception class, then the Tactical Pattern Recognition class."

"Do not forget, the Tactical Pattern Recognition class is a compulsory course. If you fail it, you won’t be allowed to advance to the second year."

When Simon heard these words, he nodded slightly.

’I guess they want the classes under the World Pillar to be last.’

’Maybe they’re trying to make the students stronger because of me.’

Instructor Valdin left them after telling them their schedule today, and Simon went to their classroom for the Mental Partitioning class.

Out of the four classes, he was only interested in one.

The Mental Partitioning class.

However, unfortunately for him, the Tactical Pattern Recognition course was compulsory and he had no choice but to attend.

’The Mental Partitioning course is meant to teach us how to run mental simulations, how to divide our attention, and they’ll also teach us basic mental defensive techniques.’

’I already know how to perform mental simulations and how to divide my attention, so I’m not so interested in that aspect of the class.’

’I also have a few mental defensive techniques in my mind, but those are for humans and gods, not demons.’

’I guess I might have to buy a mental defensive and offensive technique.’

’Hmm.’

Simon sat on the seat he sat in the previous class. Apparently, everybody believed it was his and none wanted to sit on it.

But just as he sat down, he saw Sunless walking straight toward him.

He could not see her face or eyes because of her mask, but he could perceive the displeasure radiating from her.

Without even waiting for her to get close, he moved to the side and made way for her to enter.

He didn’t bother trying to escape since he knew that he would not be able to.

If he moved to another seat, she would follow and she would most likely be more pissed at him.

It was better to face it like a man.

Right?

However, Sunless paused in front of him and did not enter.

She looked at him, and Simon actually felt slightly uncomfortable under her gaze despite not being able to see her face or eyes.

To his relief, she eventually entered and sat beside him.

But just as he was about to turn, she did something he did not expect at all.

Bam

She coated her index finger and thumb with her demonic energy, then she fiercely pinched Simon’s waist and twisted it.

No matter how much pain resistance Simon had.

No matter how strong he was.

No matter how cold and indifferent he was.

No matter what he had gone through in his two lives.

This...this was painful as hell.

His reflexes kicked in, and he jumped off the chair while gritting his teeth and holding the side of his waist.

Unfortunately, that only made it worse because Sunless did not let go easily, causing more pain to his skin.

’FUCK!’

Simon had the urge to scream out loud in pain, but he couldn’t.

It would be completely embarrassing if he screamed in pain in front of his classmates because of a mere pinch.

All the reputation he built would come crumbling down in an instant.

He could only grit his teeth while staring at Sunless in disbelief and shock.

He truly did not expect that from her.

Fortunately for him, none could see his face because of his mask.

"You’re buying all my meals today. All my three meals today. And you’re also going to talk to me while we’re eating or we’re going to have a serious problem."

"Got it?"

Sunless tilted her head slightly as she said all these with an extremely calm but threatening tone.

The entire class was silent, and Simon blinked with a stunned expression behind his mask.

How did things turn out like this?

Why was she reminding him of how his past wife used to act.

"Do you understand, Broken Halo?"

Simon’s lips twitched, then he nodded.

Sunless nodded. "Good."

The moment she said this, the instructor for the Mental Partitioning class arrived.
