The Cat-Like Miss Preston: Mr. CEO begs for Reconciliation!-Chapter 134: Honey, Don’t Be Mad Anymore
Donovan Xavier’s thin lips pressed together as he lay down, pulled the blanket over himself, and said nothing.
"Donovan Xavier," Chloe Preston said sweetly, lying beside him and blinking.
Donovan kept his eyes closed.
Chloe leaned in, imitating the way he often acted, and planted a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose.
"Are you upset?"
"No."
"Really?"
Donovan grunted in response, his eyes still closed and his expression unreadable.
But anyone could see he wasn’t happy. After all, they had just registered their marriage today. Because of her pregnancy, he had already refrained from touching her for a very long time. His needs were always strong; he must have been feeling utterly tormented at this moment.
But what could she do? His injuries hadn’t healed yet, and any movement would surely aggravate them.
Chloe took the initiative, reaching out to find his large hand. She held it and gently kneaded his knuckles, as if to soothe him.
She remained silent as she lowered her head and kissed his lips. They were cool and soft.
Donovan didn’t react. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Chloe continued downward, kissing his alluring Adam’s apple and giving it a playful bite. A faint, red tooth mark appeared on his skin.
With his eyes still closed, Donovan remained unresponsive, as still as a statue.
Chloe leaned close to his ear, blowing a gentle stream of warm air as she whispered softly, "Honey..."
Resting her chin on her hand, her gaze soft, she called to him again. "Honey, you look so handsome when you sleep."
"Honey, I like you so much."
Donovan still didn’t speak, but he could no longer stop the corners of his mouth from turning up. He fought to suppress a smile.
Chloe noticed, and her eyes lit up. She leaned in and nibbled on his ear.
"Honey, don’t be angry anymore."
"I’ll give you kisses."
With that, she planted a loud kiss on his handsome face.
Donovan opened his eyes, which were filled with joy. He pinched her small cheek gently. "How could I ever truly be mad at you?"
"It’s just that hugging you every night without being able to touch you... it’s making me restless."
"Baby, I really want to pin you down and tease you, and then..."
"Ahem, don’t say any more," Chloe quickly interrupted, her face flushing slightly.
Donovan stroked her head as if she were a precious treasure and smiled. "Go to sleep."
Chloe nodded and settled down, then leaned close and mumbled softly in a warm breath against his ear, "Honey, once your injuries are healed, I’ll..."
Donovan’s lower abdomen tightened, and he raised an eyebrow slightly. "Really?"
"Mhm."

「Several days passed peacefully.」
At the moment, Chloe Preston was sitting in the car, taking a quiet nap with her eyes closed. She hadn’t been to the store in a long time and planned to check on it today.
「Fifteen minutes later.」
The car stopped in front of the jade shop. The driver turned back and called out respectfully, "Ma’am, we’ve arrived."
Chloe opened her eyes, let out a small yawn, and stepped out of the car.
She was wearing a purple spaghetti-strap long dress, her hair styled in a low bun. Her face was bright and captivating and her eyes were clear, giving her an air of gentle elegance mixed with a hint of languor.
Another car followed behind them. The doors opened, and a group of bodyguards in black suits emerged, each one burly, fierce, and powerfully built.
This was Donovan’s arrangement. He said it wasn’t safe for her to be out alone and insisted that they protect her. Chloe hadn’t refused. After all, someone had sent her an anonymous text message saying they wanted to kill her.
Chloe lifted her gaze and scanned her surroundings. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, she walked inside.
The bodyguards stuck close to her side.
"Chloe, you’re here!" an employee greeted her with a smile.
Chloe nodded and glanced at the staff. "I haven’t been overseeing things recently. Have any of you been slacking off?"
"No, no!" the staff hurriedly answered, clearly intimidated.
Just then, her phone screen lit up. Donovan had sent her a message.
[What are you doing?]
Chloe: [At the store.]
[Oh, are the bodyguards with you? Be safe.]
Chloe: [Mhm, I’ll take care of myself. You focus on work.]
[By the way, what time will you be home tonight?]
He had been so busy the last few days. Apparently, the company had run into some trouble, and a pile of documents was awaiting his attention. He had barely eaten a proper meal and had worked until almost one in the morning the previous night. She had fallen asleep while waiting for him, and he had told her not to wait up next time, worried it would affect her health.
He replied: [Not sure yet. I still have two meetings to get to.]
Chloe felt a pang of sympathy. [Honey, you’re working so hard.]
Donovan: [Then you have to give me kisses when I get back.]
[Baby, I miss you.]
Then, a cute sticker of two characters snuggling appeared.
Chloe smiled. For such a decisive and ruthless man to learn how to use emoji stickers was truly a rare sight.
「Outside, a black Volkswagen was parked.」
The window rolled down, and a woman wearing sunglasses looked out, speaking in a low voice. "It seems she knows someone is after her. She has a group of bodyguards around her day and night. It’s not going to be easy to make a move."
The man leaned back in his seat, his gaze detached and his emotions expertly hidden. "In that case, we can’t act rashly. Let’s head back for now and come up with a long-term plan."
The woman tilted her head to glance at him. "You must know her. Otherwise, you wouldn’t keep holding back."
"But Ryan Hale, the orders from above are clear. This woman must die. If we keep failing to complete the mission, we’ll be the ones who die."
Ryan’s tone remained even. "You’re overthinking it. How could I possibly know her? She’s surrounded by bodyguards, and they’re all trained professionals. Our chances of success are slim."
The woman suddenly leaned closer, her eyes meeting his jet-black gaze. "Is that so?"
Ryan’s eyes flickered away, avoiding her stare.
The woman said nothing. With an amused yet unreadable expression, she watched him quietly for a moment before opening the car door to get out.
Ryan grabbed her arm. "What are you doing?"
The woman smiled. "Since we’re already here, shouldn’t I at least go in and take a look?"
"Yvonne!" Ryan’s voice was sharp and cold.
Yvonne Sullivan leaned in, a smile spreading across her lips. "What? Are you nervous? Afraid I’ll do something to her?"
Ryan said, "Don’t touch her."
Yvonne’s smile vanished, replaced by an icy glint in her eyes. "That’s not for me to decide. She has to die, because I want to live."
With that, she pushed his hand away and got out of the car.
Inside the shop, Chloe was leaning against a rosewood chair while an employee stood nearby, reporting on recent business.
Just then, a woman walked in from outside and took off her sunglasses. She was stunningly beautiful with a cold air about her, dressed in a black spaghetti-strap top, shorts, and a black leather jacket. She looked cool, sassy, and flamboyant.
"Yvonne!" Ryan yelled, chasing after her.
Chloe looked up, and her gaze fell on the man. She instantly recognized him as the one who had rushed her father to the hospital.
Pleasantly surprised, Chloe quickly stood up and walked toward him. "Mr. Hale."
Ryan, who had been about to drag the woman out, froze when he heard her call his name. "You... you still remember my last name?"
Chloe gave a gentle smile. "Of course. You’re my father’s savior. You left so quickly back then that I never got the chance to thank you."
"It was nothing. No thanks are necessary," Ryan replied.
His features were sharp and handsome. He wore a black trench coat that accentuated his tall, lean frame, and there was a subtle air of danger about him.
As he spoke, he grabbed the woman beside him and started to drag her outside.
Yvonne struggled, glaring at him. "Let go! Stop dragging me."
Ryan shot her a look, silently telling her to leave.
Yvonne shook him off and looked up, sizing up Chloe with an appraising gaze.
She really is a beauty.
Chloe asked, "Miss, you... why do you keep staring at me?"
