The CEO's Billion Dollar Bride-Chapter 48 - 49. Love at First Sight
Chapter 48: 49. Love at First Sight
Chapter 48: 49. Love at First Sight
“What does it matter if it’s not in the country?” Michael Gordon looked at him lazily, smiling, “Giving birth is just a matter of one night’s time!”
“Having a one-night stand might be a common thing for Mr. Gordon, but for Ivy, it’s impossible!” Mario Jensen saw that Ivy’s foot was not injured, and gently let her go, “I know Ivy very well, she’s not that kind of person!”
Hearing this, Ivy felt a panic, as if she had been caught lying. Her senior trusted her so much, so if one day he found out that this child was indeed born from her one-night stand with Michael Gordon, would he be disappointed to death in her?
“Whether she’s that kind of person or not is irrelevant!” Just as Mario Jensen’s words fell, Michael Gordon’s arrogant voice lazily came, “The important thing is that I am that kind of person!”
Mario Jensen was startled. Indeed, everyone knew what kind of person Michael Gordon was, but it was the first time he had said it so blatantly.
“Ivy, being with two men and not knowing who the father is, isn’t good. We should go home!”
The tense atmosphere was broken by a soft voice. Ivy’s taut nerves relaxed involuntarily, turned to Mario Jensen with some apology, “Sorry, senior, I have to leave first. I’ll treat you to dinner in a few days. Mr. Gordon was just joking. Don’t take it to heart!”
Ivy spoke politely, but when her words fell on Mario Jensen’s ears, it was like a distancing. Especially the phrase ‘don’t take it to heart,’ it was like the tone of a family member. The hope he had was extinguished instantly.
“All right, I’ll pick you up after work tomorrow. We haven’t seen each other for many years. It’s just a small gathering!” Mario Jensen smiled slightly, raising his eyebrows to look at Michael Gordon, “I suppose Mr. Gordon won’t mind if my classmates get together, right?!”
When Michael Gordon heard this, his face darkened thoroughly. He was about to speak, but Ivy’s agreement stifled him before he had a chance.
“No need to ask him; I agree!” Michael Gordon was just her boss. It was okay to tease him, but was he going to meddle in her personal affairs?
After that, Ivy said goodbye to Mario Jensen and begrudgingly whispered in Michael Gordon’s ear as she passed him, “Didn’t you say you were going to take us home? Or were you just talking?”
If it wasn’t for Bella suddenly sticking to him and asking him to take them home, she wouldn’t have given him a chance to be alone with her daughter!
Ivy came up with an excuse for her tolerance towards him.
Watching Michael Gordon holding Bella and walking away with Ivy, Mario Jensen’s brows furrowed tightly. Clear memories flashed in his mind, the bitter feeling spreading through all his senses. Is there really someone he could never have, no matter how he waited?
If there is, he wouldn’t be content with it. What should he do then?
“Fabian, I’ve brought the car over!” Lina Miller’s fresh and gentle voice interrupted his thoughts, bringing his gaze back from afar. Turning his head, he saw Lina had driven his car to the front.
Seeing that Mario Jensen was just standing there without speaking or getting in the car, Lina reached her head out, “Get in! You had a drink today, let me drive instead!”
Without saying a word, Mario Jensen went straight into the passenger seat. Lina only glanced at him lightly, knowing that his mood must be terrible right now. Not saying a word, she stepped on the accelerator, and the car drove away.
“After driving to your apartment, I’ll take the car back myself,” Mario Jensen looked at the road ahead as he spoke after a while, “I didn’t drink much!”
“Even if you didn’t drink much, you still drank. Drunk driving is no joke!” For the first time, Lina didn’t follow his words. “I’ll help you drive the car back, and then take a taxi back!”
This time, surprisingly, Mario Jensen didn’t speak. Lina was somewhat surprised. With her gaze on the road ahead, she glanced at him. He was just leaning back in the passenger seat with his eyes closed, looking very exhausted. She didn’t disturb him, just drove quietly. For a moment, the car became quiet, with only the soft music lingering in the cab.
Michael Gordon directly put Bella in the passenger seat, and the little one jumped down from below, “Uncle Gordon, I can’t sit here; it’s not my place!”
Michael Gordon was first taken aback, then asked in surprise, “Why can’t you sit here? And why isn’t it your place?”
“Ivy said that the passenger seat is the most dangerous and also a life-defining position, only suitable for lovers. I can’t sit here now. I’ll sit here when I grow up and have a lover!”

Bella’s big eyes sparkled, her serious tone making Michael Gordon stunned. His gaze fell on her chubby little face, and a familiar feeling crossed his heart, as if his heart would shatter the next moment.
Suddenly, Michael Gordon couldn’t control himself and kissed the little one’s cheek, then held her in his arms and put her in the back seat, “You’re right, baby. Uncle will keep this seat for his life-defining lover!”
Life-defining? Hearing this, a spark flashed through Ivy’s mind. Those four words seemed to come from the depths of her mind, her head aching, but she couldn’t remember who had said it to her.
“Do you have a headache?” Seeing her pressing her head with a dazed expression, Michael Gordon couldn’t help but ask.
“Yes, I have a pretty bad headache!” Ivy took Bella from his arms and skillfully completed the action, looking at him with some displeasure, “Mr. Gordon, can you stop talking nonsense in front of others in the future?”
“Nonsense?” Michael Gordon frowned in confusion, and it took him a while to respond, staring at her with a teasing look, “You mean saying Bella is our child? It was just a joke; do you have to…”
“What do you mean by ‘just a joke’?!”
Before Michael Gordon could finish, Ivy interrupted him, her anger bursting out, “Mr. Gordon, you’re the high and mighty CEO, but I’m a poor girl who just wants to live a quiet life and not get involved in unnecessary rumors. I fear your world. So, please don’t talk nonsense in front of others, ruining my chances of finding the right person!”
For some reason, hearing the words ‘just a joke,’ Ivy felt like a ball of cotton had been stuffed into her chest, stifling her breath. Only by venting it in this way would she feel better. She thought she must be crazy, working as Michael Gordon’s personal secretary for a while, her nerves had gone haywire. Good thing tomorrow was the last day.
