The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 80: Just Passing By
Vera Xavier first took out some Rapid Heart Saving Pills and had Master Nathan take them. Then she placed a nitroglycerin tablet under his tongue and said to Lana Cheney, "Call an ambulance, now!"
Lana Cheney said, "Oh," and quickly called for an ambulance. Afterward, she felt the floor was too cold and wanted to move Master Nathan onto the sofa.
Vera Xavier quickly stopped her. "We can’t move him in his current condition. If you’re worried about him getting cold, you can cover him with a blanket."
Lana Cheney got a blanket and covered Master Nathan with it. Seeing that the color was returning to Master Nathan’s face, Vera Xavier asked, "Is anyone else home?"
Lana Cheney finally snapped out of it and rushed to call Nathaniel Nathan. The ambulance arrived while she was on the phone, so she quickly said, "We’re taking Master Nathan to the hospital now," and hung up.
Vera Xavier could see that Lana Cheney wasn’t thinking clearly, so she knew she’d have to go along.
Fortunately, they were very close to the hospital. And given Master Nathan’s prominent status, his admission and treatment proceeded smoothly.
While the doctors were working on Master Nathan, Vera Xavier and Lana Cheney had to wait outside. Nathaniel Nathan rushed over and immediately asked Lana Cheney, "How’s Grandpa?"
"They’re working on him now," Lana Cheney replied hurriedly.
Nathaniel Nathan noticed Vera Xavier standing nearby and gave her a surprised look. Lana Cheney quickly explained, "It’s all thanks to this young lady today. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have known what to do on my own."
Only after her explanation did Lana Cheney remember to ask, "Miss, how did you end up at our house?"
Vera Xavier cleared her throat and said, "I was just passing by and heard you shouting, so I came in to see what was wrong."
Nathaniel Nathan’s gaze deepened. He knew how far her house was from his; she wouldn’t have just been wandering around his neighborhood for no reason.
He asked Vera Xavier, "What were you doing near my house?"
Vera Xavier said, looking a little embarrassed, "I was passing by... and, uh... well... I was in a rush to help Master Nathan, so I grabbed some medicine from the pharmacy by your house and didn’t pay. You’ll have to settle the bill later."
The corners of Nathaniel Nathan’s mouth turned up slightly. "Alright."
Just then, the doctor came out. "It’s a good thing the patient was brought in so quickly and that first aid was administered. If he had arrived five minutes later, or if no first aid had been given, he would have been in grave danger."
Lana Cheney turned to Vera Xavier, "Miss, thank you so much for today!"
Vera Xavier just smiled, but Nathaniel Nathan said, "She’s one of us."
He always spoke plainly, and Lana Cheney didn’t immediately grasp what he meant by that. Not that he needed her to.
He turned to Vera Xavier and asked, "Have you eaten?"
Vera Xavier was about to politely demur, but her stomach chose that exact moment to betray her with a loud growl. She flushed with embarrassment. Nathaniel turned to Lana Cheney and said, "Go buy some food from a restaurant, and get some congee for Grandpa."
Lana Cheney quickly agreed and hurried off.
Once Lana Cheney was gone, Nathaniel Nathan led Vera Xavier into the hospital room. Master Nathan’s color looked much better. He was past the critical stage and now just needed to rest.
After confirming Master Nathan was alright, Nathaniel Nathan let out a long sigh of relief and pulled Vera Xavier into his arms.
She hadn’t expected him to suddenly hug her and instinctively began to struggle. He whispered, "If it weren’t for you, Grandpa might have..."
