The Classmate Who Is Adored by Everyone Smiles Teasingly Only at Me-Chapter 1Volume 3 .3 - November Sun
November Sun 3
“Two? You mean――”
“Ichinose, it’s impossible for the masochistic Wakui to turn sadist. Let’s just eat some snacks instead.”
The petite girl started to say something, but the girl sitting opposite her interrupted with a laugh, pointing at the pile of sweets on the desk.
“By the way, that was the main purpose. Oh, is this matcha-flavored chocolate the new release?”
“Ichinose, most guys would be thrilled to be surrounded by girls, and you’re here for the snacks?”
“If I had ulterior motives, you’d look at me like I’m trash.”
Ignoring the girls’ exasperated expressions, Sōma picked up a dice-shaped vivid green chocolate and tossed it into his mouth.
“…Yeah, it’s matcha.”
That was the only impression Sōma could muster.
The flavor of matcha spread softly in his mouth, but he couldn’t tell at all what was different from the existing matcha-flavored chocolates.
He asked the surrounding girls for their opinions.
“What do you guys think of this chocolate?”
“It’s yummy!”
“Very matcha-like.”
Their overly simplistic responses came back.
“What do you think, Wakui?”
“Well, I think it’s good enough to not just be a limited time offer, but to be sold all year round.”
Such an opinion was the best one could expect in this situation.
Unfortunately, neither Sōma nor Wakui could come up with anything more insightful.
Chika would surely have given a more detailed and accurate review.
He couldn’t help but think like that.
“What’s wrong?”
Wakui peered curiously at Sōma’s face, who had paused while reaching for a second piece of chocolate.
“Ah… um, I was just thinking about the recipe for this chocolate.”
He lied on the spot.
“Ichinose, you really think about sweets all the time, huh?”
“It’s what I like doing. Thanks to me, you guys have been eating quite a lot of sweets too, right?”
“Well, that’s true.”
Wakui nodded, and the girl sitting opposite her clapped her hands as if she had an idea.
“Speaking of which, Wakui, didn’t you say you got a coupon for a dessert buffet? What happened to that?”
“Dessert buffet?”
For someone aspiring to be a patissier, that was a very enticing term.
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
“Oh, that.”
Wakui pulled out two tickets from her wallet and fluttered them.
“These are for the hotel on the main street, right?”
It was a coupon for a dessert buffet at a hotel restaurant that Sōma knew, available only on weekends.
“My parents got them, and I took them.”
“I’m jealous. I’ve heard the cakes at that hotel are really good. Though, I haven’t tried them myself.”
Strictly speaking, he should have eaten them at a wedding he attended as a child, but for some reason, he couldn’t remember the taste of the cakes.
Perhaps it was because he hadn’t yet decided to become a patissier at that time.
“So Ichinose, you’re interested?”
The girls smirked upon hearing this, but Sōma, who was staring intently at the coupon, didn’t notice their reaction.
“Then why don’t you go with Wakui?”
“Can I really use those coupon with Wakui?”
“Wha… Whaat!?”
Sōma’s voice of surprise was drowned out by an even louder exclamation from Wakui.
“Wait a minute, Yua, don’t just blurt out crazy ideas like that! Why do I have to go to the buffet with Ichinose!? Are you crazy!?”
“Aw come on, it’s a shame to waste such a good coupon, and you said you wanted to use it.”
“Yua, Nene, or Saori could come with me instead!”
“We’re on a diet, remember?”
They said while munching on snacks.
“You guys…”
Watching the girls’ exchange, Sōma couldn’t help but think that, surprisingly, Wakui seemed to be the one often teased within the group.
As someone who gets teased by Chika daily, Sōma couldn’t help but feel sympathy.
“Um, if…”
Egged on by her giggling friends, Wakui turned to him with a flushed face.
“…If you want to go, shall we go together? But don’t get the wrong idea. It’s not like I want to go with you, Ichinose. It’s just a waste not to use the coupon.”
“Wow, such a tsundere line!”
“To say something so cliche in this day and age, Wakui is amazing.”
“Shut up!”
While Wakui and the other girls were noisily chatting, Sōma kept his gaze fixed on the coupon.
The opportunity to eat as much as he wanted at the hotel’s dessert buffet for free was an incredible boon for an aspiring patissier.
Just eating would be a learning experience.
Although the idea of going with a girl he wasn’t particularly close to was a bit nerve-wracking, Wakui was a nice person, so it shouldn’t be a big problem.
“Are you okay with me as your companion, Wakui?”
“If I wasn’t, I’d tear up the coupon.”
If Wakui doesn’t mind, there’s no reason for Sōma to refuse.
With that thought, he reached for the coupon ticket.
“…Huh?”
But his hand stopped when he saw the characters printed on the bottom right of the coupon ticket.
The coupon’s expiration date was this coming Saturday.
Realizing this, Sōma had no choice but to slowly lower his extended hand.
“Sorry. I’d really like to go, but I have a prior engagement this Saturday. It’s an appointment I can’t cancel.”
He apologized deeply with a bow, and Wakui’s face turned pale.
“I see, that’s too bad. Bad timing.”
“Really sorry about that.”
“It’s not something you need to worry about, Ichinose. It’s just an extra coupon I had.”
“Still, I feel bad about it since you invited me. To make up for it, I’ll bring you a cake next time.”
“A cake made by Ichinose? That’s not a bad idea. Since it’s in place of the hotel’s dessert buffet, make sure it’s a whole one. And don’t forget the pudding for the photo fee from earlier.”
“Got it. I’ll make something amazing for both.”
“Yay, I get to have two of Ichinose’s sweets!”
Wakui said with a smile, but the smile looked terribly sad.
