Chapter 522: Chapter 522: Eyes Like Torches

On the observation deck of the Asgard, Fu Xing handed Lin Fu a drink to relax her spiritual power and sat down in front of her, staring out into the starry sky through the transparent curtains. His personal work terminal was casually tossed on the table, the screen flickering slightly, a reminder that there was work to be handled.

Lin Fu was fiddling with her new Light Computer, which was of higher quality and functionality than the previous one, exclusively supplied by the military. The one she had been using was removed and thrown away by Clive’s men after she was captured. After data extraction, her inbox and homepage had simply overloaded.

Tens of thousands of messages made it impossible for her to keep up. She ignored most of the unfamiliar names and bluntly sent a mass message to her friends that she was on her way back.

Replying individually was simply overwhelming. There were just too many. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

She really didn’t know when she had become so popular, but she still felt quite happy that her friends were concerned about her.

"Have you gone soft?"

"Are you talking about Lilith?"

"Mm! You didn’t like her at first, and her niece even offended you. And yet, you let it slide so easily and even allowed her to marry Prince Clive."

Regardless of her current lack of power, the status of an exiled princess could be considered noble, but also worthless.

After all, she was a failure who had been expelled from her country, still recognized by the world under that infamy, but the Mecklenburg Royal Family would only respect her without acknowledgement.

But now things were different. She was not just an exiled princess; she was also the Duchess of Imoles. Since she had spoken out, the Xia Family would give her face and not pursue the matter further.

It would not be the same for anyone else.

"There is a bit of that, but I truly dislike her niece. That little girl sees her aunt as a role model, but sadly, she only learned the surface and missed the essence," Lin Fu said nonchalantly while operating her Light Computer and glancing at Fu Xing from time to time. "Lilith is treating her like her own daughter by keeping her close. Trouble will follow sooner or later."

Fu Xing stroked Lin Fu’s head in approval, "My Ah Foo truly has a discerning eye."

Lin Fu, feeling embarrassed by the praise, tilted her head to look at him, "How did you become so sweet-tongued?" She didn’t know he was so adept at cheering someone up before.

Fu Xing resisted the urge to lean forward and plant a lingering kiss on her lips before reluctantly pulling away. He gently pressed his nose against hers and whispered hoarsely, "You’re the sweeter one."

Lin Fu’s cheeks were burning hot. She sneakily glanced towards the direction of the automatic door and breathed a sigh of relief that no one was there.

"Han Shuang and my stand-in father are keeping a very close eye on me."

Fu Xing couldn’t help but laugh at her joke, "Your uncle would be jealous if he knew you called him a stand-in father."

"It’s fine, I wouldn’t call him that to his face."

During the time she had lost her memory, Lin Qingfeng became her stand-in father in her heart, and after she regained her memory and thought about Lin Qingfeng’s protection and care all this time, she had long considered Lin Qingfeng as her family.

Fu Xing affectionately wrapped his arms around her, "Lin Qingfeng and Xiling each protected you and Evelyn separately. After ten years of closeness and commitment, you and Lin Qingfeng have a father-daughter bond. But to Evelyn, Xiling was always just a pawn, and what’s more ridiculous is that Xiling didn’t die at the hands of an enemy, but at the hands of Evelyn."

A trace of frost appeared in Fu Xing’s eyes; he had actually known Xiling from a young age, but as they grew up, their paths diverged and they became estranged. Still, he felt it was a great injustice when he heard of Xiling’s death.
