The Crimson Reaper-Chapter 75: The Clean Freak
"Luciel! Why did you bring this clean freak?!" Helen yelled at her husband, sending him daggers as she placed her hands on her hips.
"You know, there was a reason why my room was always off-limits for him!" She shouted, getting closer and pressing her finger against Luciel’s chest.
She never liked having Alex visit her place, not even the house she and Luciel shared.
When Luciel had been proclaimed dead, the house became a garbage truck, Alex was the one who cleaned it up, but Helen was left with PTSD as a result.
He kept nagging her over the tiniest of details. Every corner had to be spotless, including the dust behind the sofa.
"And my room is off limits to Luciel and any other vampires he brings!" Alex added, wanting to put Luciel in a tricky situation as a revenge of some sort.
He still couldn’t forgive him for what he had done and vowed to haunt him until his dying breath.
"Wait.... Why would your room be off limits?" Helen tilted her head, wondering what had happened between the two.
Alex’s place was always a go-to when they all went to hang out together. It was the only location they knew that was always sparkless, meanwhile, unlike their house that was passable.
"Oh, he and his new squad just decided to get a little, tiny, itsy-bitsy, drunk," Alex pinched together his thumb and index finger, glaring at Luciel.
"And then they crashed the place." He added using a flat tone with eyes half closed before taking a small step backward. ’Helen is going to be pissed.’ He thought, mentally rubbing his hands together.
The room went quiet, not even a fly could be heard as Helen stared at her husband, not believing what he had done. Speaking about all of this, she still had a bone to pick with Alex for not telling her that Luciel had become a vampire and not a mindless bloodhound as everyone had thought.
"You did what?!" She screamed at the top of her lungs furiously. She was so loud that Alex thought that his eardrums were going to burst. He definitely didn’t want to be in Luciel’s skin.
Luciel’s forehead wrinkled as he closed his eyes shut, lowering his head and covering both of her ears. It felt like an airplane went right next to him.
"Not so loud!" Luciel raised his voice as he frowned, slowly opening his crimson eyes, "Besides, I’m not the one that crashed it, it was Melisa!!!"
’Shit...’ Luciel thought after realizing he accidentally blurted out the real culprit while wanting to protect himself from Helen’s wrath.
"Melisa..." Alex whispered with a raspy voice. His sea-blue eyes turned dark, taking on the chilling glare of a cold-blooded serial killer.
"I don’t care who it was. You took a part in that by doing nothing!" Helen continued to scold Luciel. Her loud voice made him frown and turn his head aside a little bit.
Luciel, along with Helen, ignored Alex. He would let Melisa deal with that problem on her own. Right now, he had more important matters to deal with.
He had no means of defending himself from his wife who was a definition of an active volcano. But instead of lava, he was being buried under the stream of words.
"Are you done now?" He finally mustered some strength to ask after Helen took a small break to catch her breath.
"No! Not until you apologize to him and find a way to repay!"
"Well... If he brings me Melisa’s head, then all will be forgiven." Alex clapped with his hands, having an evil grin on his face as he was crafting his master plan to get back at her.
"No!" Luciel and Helen shouted in unison, turning their heads toward their friend.
"Why not? She was a bull in a China shop!" He exclaimed, extending his hands in front of him.
"Alex..." Helen growled, but of course, the growl wasn’t even close to the beastly one Luciel could produce, "Don’t make me angry even more, you aren’t in the clear just yet." She warned him, making him gulp.
Helen shifted her attention to her new victim, starting to scold him as well. She was furious how he never told her about Luciel being alive. She could have helped him!
Not only that, but he dared to hide him and look her straight in the eyes while talking to her.
Seeing how Helen wasn’t planning to stop anytime soon, Luciel started to back away bit by bit, approaching the bed before sitting down on it.
He observed the whole situation with a pleasant smile on his face, glad that Alex got his karma for waking up the demon that had been lying dormant.
Luciel yawned after the levels of adrenaline inside his body started to lower. He was starting to get ready to sleep as he snoozed off, not paying attention to the two, but right after he was about to head into deep sleep, Alex tapped his shoulder.
"So... What did you want to talk about?" He asked, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
"Huh?" Luciel slowly opened his eyes, blinking a few times to clear a blurry vision before whipping a small amount of drool that was on the left corner of his lower lip.
’I swear... Did becoming a vampire mess with his memory as well...?’ Alex sighed, touching his forehead with the tips of his fingers.
He proceeded to remind Luciel about their recent talk about his mist and asked why they had to go somewhere private as well.
"Oh... That..." Luciel rubbed his eye, sounding a little husky. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Helen, come over here," he waved with his hand, calling over his wife who was staring at the blue, transparent, computer screen, analyzing some samples she collected earlier from the slain zombies.
No matter how she looked at it, she couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Their flesh seemed to be healthy, but when looking at it with the naked eye, it appeared like it was deteriorating. There was no sign of a virus, bacteria, or some kind of strange substance, so just what could have caused this drastic change?
"Helen?"
She finally raised her head once her name had been called again, "what do you need?"
"To come and listen, you might find this information useful."
"All right, but be quick, I’m a little busy." She approached the bed and sat down, crossing her legs and back facing Luciel, turning her head a little so she could observe him as he spoke.
Luciel started to explain from the beginning when he started with his training with Nosferatu, but before he could get into more details, Alex suddenly jumped up from the bed.
"You know what! I can’t concentrate while being in this mess!" he complained, raising his voice. Instead of listening to Luciel, he kept thinking about how he should organize the cables, how he needed to move away the furniture to clean the dust underneath, and so on.
But there was one more reason why Alex kept thinking about cleaning - he wanted to avoid this topic. He knew about what was Luciel talking about and it reminded him of his old colony where he grew up, Noa.
