Chapter 96: Vampire’s Influence

Luciel walked into the nurse’s office, looking towards the ground after being called in, luckily he didn’t have to wait for long, otherwise, he would get mad from worry.

"Oh! Luciel! You are back!" The nurse greeted him, having a smile on her face as she waved to him.

Currently, she was on her night shift, also the same nurse that took him in when he arrived at the shelter, but they had known each other for a long time already.

"Jilly, hi!" Luciel kept his head down, sounding monotone and flat. He liked this nurse, but he just wanted this to be over. His Helen might be dying and he needs to follow this stupid procedure!

"Just hurry up, I have to go and find my wife, she’s missing," he added, quickly revealing the urgency of this situation.

He walked straight past Jilly and headed toward the middle of the room where she examined him before.

As she watched her patient strolling right next to her, she caught a glimpse of his eyes, freezing on the spot.

It was the first time she noticed them since he was keeping his head down all the time.

They were crimson red...

Luciel started to take off his clothes, everything except his underwear. That would have to be one horny zombie to bite there.

He waited for Jilly to get closer and do her job, he didn’t have time to waste, but she never came.

"Is something wrong?" He asked her with a deep voice, finally raising his head to look up at her.

"Y-your eyes..." She brought her hands closer together, taking a step back. This came as a shock to her. The first time she had seen Luciel after the vampirism, he bothered to wear a human disguise, but not anymore after what happened at the meeting. It was easy to not be afraid back then.

"Can’t help it, now, please... I have places to be..." Luciel begged, closing his eyes and bringing his eyebrows closer together after hearing a change in Jilly’s heartbeat.

He could have hidden his eyes, but everyone already knew what he was. Before, he kept his features hidden just to make everyone a little bit more comfortable around him, but there was no need to show them such respect.

"All right," She nodded with her head, making a fist.

Despite being able to smell fear coming from Jilly, he could hear resolution in her confident, steady voice, which made Luciel acknowledge her bravery.

The nurse put on her latex gloves and approved Luciel, carefully starting to examine his body.

Jilly’s face flushed a little as she ran her fingers across Luciel’s rectus abdominis and he was pretty sure that this wasn’t a part of the examination process, but seeing her in this state gave him a small idea.

’Hm... Stats, open,’ he went to connect with the collective knowledge that Nosferatu gave him access to.

After reading his stats, Luciel glanced at the nurse who seemed to be mesmerized by his perfect looks that weren’t uncommon for vampires and it seemed like they were working for what they were made for - attracting prey.

He didn’t want to do this to the nurse, but he needed to replenish his Qi, who knows what might happen once he finds Helen and he didn’t ’t want to find out what would happen if it would reach zero.

"Say, would you maybe mind giving me some blood?" He asked, not being able to resist licking his lips as he observed her pulse, calling him to dig in.

"I’m sorry, but I can’t. Helen already asked me for a few and I can never know when someone will need it," Jilly shook her head, as much as she wanted to help him, she couldn’t do this.

"No... I meant your blood," Luciel corrected himself, unconsciously switching his voice into alluring, captivating a low rumble as he placed his fingers below her chin, slowly lifting her head.

Even if Jilly gave him the blood pack, he was afraid that he might have to refuse those. They were still great at helping him manage his thirst and providing necessary nutrition, but he didn’t need the collective to tell him that those were useless when it came to getting more Qi. He would only recover a tiny bit.

"M-my blood?" Jilly stuttered, every fiber in her body was telling her to run away after hearing the suggestion, but after being forced to lift her head and her eyes met with Luciel, along with his charming voice, a strange feeling started to overwhelm her body.

Fear started to disperse, starting to get replaced by otherwordly calmness.

"Yes..." Luciel slowly replied, his husky voice vibrating inside her ears as he held her in his grasp.

Jilly felt like refusing, wishing to rush out through those doors and scream for help, but her whole body felt like jelly.

She tried to move and scream, but quickly realized that she wasn’t in control anymore. It was like her whole body was surrounded by a hardening cement.

Jilly was about to refuse, but his eyes had almost a hypnotizing effect.

"S-sure..." She stuttered, her lower lip trembling in fear and her pupils dilated after she realized what she had just now said.

She trusted Luciel, but not like this! During her career, many victims that suffered because of a vampire bite went through her hands and she saw how terrifying that could be.

The most harmful side effect was just getting paralyzed for a few hours, but then some would get seizures or start suffocating due to allergic reactions.

Not to mention, many required blood transfusion due to excess blood loss.

Jilly shut her eyes, the feeling of helplessness taking over. The only thing she could do was not to look into her cause of death. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Luciel raised his eyebrows at the whole reaction, having mixed feelings swirling inside of him as he wondered what had happened just now.

The tiny details in her body language were telling him that she was terrified.

Her whole body shook, the racing of her heart, a drop of cold sweat on her forehead were more than enough proof.

He reached for her hand, if he was going to do this, then he would use the technique that Kai had shown him, the one that didn’t require the use of his fangs.

But just when he was about to remove her latex glove, he stopped after feeling her quivering hand.

’This is wrong...’ He thought, his human morality gnawing at him. Despite her giving him a green light, he wasn’t blind not to notice her thoughts behind her words.

"Forget about it... I guess that the examination is done..." Luciel quickly went to put on his clothes before rushing out of the room, speed walking towards Helen’s room, opening his stats again, or more specifically, Qi status.

<Qi: 570/1000>

<Yin: 427.5>

<Yang: 142.5>

’Should have taken the bite...’ Another side of him thought as he clicked with his tongue, he needed Qi if the fight would break out.

Luciel had no time to think to realize that what he had just now used on Jilly was vampire’s influence skill, but he learned his lesson.

Instead of asking, maybe it would be just better to take to avoid situations like this...
