The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon-Chapter 134 - 30 Minutes That Don’t Exist
"T-they are alive..." Dante whispered, causing Ruby to shiver in fear.
"Alive? Can we defeat them?"
At her question, Dante shook his head and smiled bitterly: "The small knights are either Rank 2 or Rank 3, and the giant knight..."
Dante didn’t have to continue. One of the normal knights could singlehandedly turn them into dough!
While Dante was considering moving forward, Ruby subconsciously took a step backward.
"Eh?"
For some reason, she felt that she hit a smooth wall.
’T-this isn’t possible, right? I’m just hallucinating...’
Ruby tried to go backward further, but she couldn’t. She gave the wall some small kicks and touched it with her other hand, but it was still there.
’Please no, please no, please no, please no.’
Ruby slowly turned her head, only to regret it immediately.
"Dante, Dante, Dante, I can’t find the corridor!" Ruby’s teeth chattered together. She struggled to keep her voice low, looking in despair at the smooth wall.
’Greed, tell me this is a joke.’
"This is a joke."
Dante took a deep breath upon seeing the wall and hearing Greed’s voice. He couldn’t help but curse Greed from the bottom of his heart at this moment.
Why the hell would he build a path that would just disappear?!
"It’s a safety mechanism." Greed appeared on Dante’s shoulder and admitted: "The building is about to become completely hidden now. It’ll happen in a few seconds."
"Wha—!"
All of a sudden, two changes occurred.
First, the appearance of the walls, ceiling, and floor changed. They became as dark as space...
Literally!
For a moment, Dante and Ruby didn’t dare to move, wondering how they were even standing. From their perceptions, they were simply standing on space!
"DANTE, PLEASE TELL ME YOU KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING!"
"Don’t shout behind my ear!" Dante got a faint headache at the sight of space, ignoring the feeling of someone hugging his arm so firmly that it’d easily squeeze a tree.
But he didn’t have time to focus on this because the second change was more terrifying.
Fafnir...
From his eyes, everything had stopped completely.
The soldiers, the clouds, Elizabeth, the wind, and Fafnir himself.
Dante could see everything unmoving like statues!
"You have 30 minutes." Greed sighed: "In this state, you’re completely hidden from even the concepts of space and time. In these 30 minutes, whatever happens here won’t be registered, simply won’t happen, won’t exist, even for fate itself."
"W-why would you do this?" Dante asked, forgetting to keep his words in his head.
"Because there are a lot of people who hate me a bit too much for no reason and would have noticed me otherwise..." Greed seemed to roll his eyes suddenly: "Of course, that would have been the case if I had your body. What a shame, all these preparations are almost wasted now. You don’t need all that, as your advancement wouldn’t be noticed by them."
Dante couldn’t help but frown. He barely understood a word.
’So if he possessed my body, he would be hiding from some people? That makes sense. If I was the one who killed him, I wouldn’t have wanted to find out that he returned to life. But what’s here that might make him noticeable?’ Dante analyzed in less than a second.
"Why don’t you move forward and see? Hehe." Greed said with a laugh.
Taking a deep breath, Dante moved forward, finally noticing four tables hovering in the space, or were they standing like he was?
Ruby resisted for a moment before following him, her legs trembling from fear.
At this moment, Dante confirmed his previous thoughts.
’Those knights are truly watching me.’
Their heads kept following Dante as he moved forward. They were aware of him from the start.
After crossing half the distance, the knights suddenly fell to their knees. Dante almost jumped back in fear... and Ruby already did, but she couldn’t go away because of Dante’s girp.
"WE ARE GOING TO DIE!"
Ignoring her, Dante noticed that the normal knights were looking down, as though they didn’t want to meet Dante’s gaze.
As for the giant knight, it looked at Dante in the eyes, but its gaze was respectful rather than threatening.
"Congratulations, you got two Rank 3 and one Rank 4 servants!" Greed used his tail to hit the ground over and over again, mimicking the act of clapping.
"Servants? SERVANTS?!" Dante couldn’t control his voice. How were these beings called servants?
’KING VALOR, THE KING OF THE GIANTS HIMSELF, IS ONLY RANK 4!!’
"Yes, servants." Greed nodded: "If I succeeded, I’d have gotten a Rank 1 body. Of course I prepared some servants to help me live and all. And don’t overestimate those Rank 4 kids that much. They are nothing compared to the Monarchs. You witnessed the power of one of them already, didn’t you?"
"What?" Dante couldn’t believe his ears. Those beings were nothing? How strong were those monarchs?
Just then, Dante remembered the strongest being he had seen in all his lives.
’Oh, if he means the dark entity... it’s understandable now.’
Of course that being was stronger than a mere Rank 4.
Of course it needed the father of a duchess and the royal family of Ashthon Kingdom only to push it away, leaving a few giant holes on the ground instead of the town.
Dante continued moving forward. Eventually, he stood before the four tables, which had strange items on them.
The first table had a hovering mask. It was a blank full-face mask with only two holes for the eyes. The material it was made from looked darker than the onyx and space itself, as though it was absorbing the faint light that Dante didn’t even know where it came from.
The second table had a...
’Is this a fucking syringe?!’
Dante wondered if he was seeing it right. It was a syringe with golden liquid inside it!
"Don’t underestimate this little needle. It can pierce the skin of a dragon, hehe." Greed didn’t explain any further, leaving Dante to stare at the syringe in confusion.
There was also a small bottle filled with dark liquid. It was hovering right behind the syringe.
The third table had a small ordinary-looking pouch. It seemed to be made of leather and had nothing special about it.
The fourth table had... two hovering coffins. The coffins were made of ice-like material, and it indeed felt so cold even from a distance.
"A mask, a syringe, a bottle, a pouch, and two coffins, in addition to some servants. Nothing is missing, not bad." Greed had a satisfied look on his face.
As Dante and Ruby looked at the items with hesitation, Greed added: "I recommend drinking the potion first, going to the pouch, and then the mask. You’ll understand why after using appraisal on them."
"D-Dante... why aren’t they attacking us?" Ruby suddenly asked, her eyes still fixed on the knights.
"I don’t know... but I don’t think they’re harmful." Dante answered honestly. He didn’t understand how those strong beings were supposed to be his servants.
If anything, Dante was less than a servant!
Taking a few steps forward, Dante went to the potion and raised his hand, but then he hesitated.
Should he use appraisal in front of her?
After only a second, he summoned his dagger and decided to make it look like the dagger had the ability to show the runes of the items.
With no more hesitation, he channeled his silver Ether.
Silver Ether Spell — Appraisal!
