The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon-Chapter 145: A Peaceful Conversation Between Ruby And Fafnir
The commander’s mouth was wide open, wide enough to fit a hammer if he wanted.
Behind him, the other soldiers had similar expressions. They were all shocked, but beneath the shock was hope and joy.
What they were looking at were a few dozen beasts from different sizes. They were fresh and still bleeding, and they were healthy and full of meat.
There was even a bottle of salt behind them! Salt!
"Am I hallucinating because of hunger or did he just snap and the food appeared?"
"What are you looking at? Store them! Don’t ask any questions!!"
"Yes sir!"
"We can finally eat until we are full!"
"Man... I think I’m going to cry..."
The soldiers rushed to store the food, taking out the inedible parts and using various methods to keep the meat fresh.
Some of them even sent a lot of the meat to the cook of the camp, preparing a meal for everyone in the camp.
Dante watched them indifferently while helping Elizabeth drink tamarind juice, which he had gotten long ago from Omar in the trade convoy.
"How is it?"
"Delicious!" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
She took the cup and drank the sweet juice in one go, feeling her exhaustion going away.
It was the first time she had drunk that juice, and her first time drinking anything other than water in this camp. She felt like life was truly worth living now.
Just then, a few skinny, young-looking soldiers stood before Dante with tears in their eyes and bowed respectfully: "We don’t know where you came from... but you saved us from an almost certain death... Thank you so much."
"I told your commander that I don’t care about any of you." Dante didn’t even look at them as he brought his hand to his ’pocket’ and brought two apple-like fruits before raising his mask slightly to take a bite of one, then threw the other to Elizabeth’s mouth.
"It’s just a coincidence that you all are in the same camp as Eliza. You should thank her instead of me."
The soldiers looked at Dante with puzzlement, then the eyes of one of them shone with a sudden realization, or guess, to be precise.
"Elizabeth... did you decide to choose him as your partner?"
"Hmm? No, he’s too young for me." Elizabeth answered casually: "I want my man to be older than me. I have some standards, you know."
"Oh..." the soldier looked at Dante with disappointment and pity, only to notice that Dante didn’t show any reaction to her "rejection".
’Or maybe I just don’t see it because he’s wearing a mask?’
The soldier decided to gather his courage and ask: "Sir, what about you? Do you have a woman in mind? Or even any preference?"
Dante frowned at his question, remembering all his past experiences with women.
’Do I... have a preference for women?’
Dante couldn’t think of anything that looked appealing to him. The face was the last of his concerns, a woman’s exposed curves were something that he even hated, and anything related to seduction would instead make him hate the woman.
As for personality, Dante didn’t have much experience interacting with people. He didn’t know what personality would be likable or not.
"I... don’t think I have a preference." Dante answered honestly after a few seconds of consideration.
"Wait, you don’t?" Elizabeth stared at him blankly while devouring her fruit, then asked with her full mouth: "I thought men’s first rule was that anything bigger is better. Why don’t you go to an inn and try every woman until you find your preference?"
"Because I don’t want to do it." Dante shook his head immediately: "It feels like animal behaviour. I respect your system for limiting these things."
"Ho? That’s kind of you." Elizabeth blushed for a moment before remembering something: "Wait, when are you going to leave? Will you stay here for a longer time?"
"Yes," Dante nodded: "I think I might visit you for 12 hours every two or three days, so I’m staying here for more time I guess."
Dante had already made the deal he wanted. He only had to bring them some food and spend his time with Elizabeth.
The deal was simple: he’d singlehandedly fix the food problem in this camp, and in exchange, the commander should show absolute favouritism to Elizabeth.
What kind of favouritism?
She could do whatever she wanted in the camp without anyone asking her about anything.
She could take from the food anytime and give it to anyone. She basically had full control over the food.
The commander also had to provide her with more guards, and her friends, Michael and Mia, had to be among these guards.
Additionally, her tent had to be sent behind the tent of the commander, and also be provided with all the luxurious furniture she wanted, such as better beds.
In addition to that, if anyone dared to make her mad, she had the right to punish them herself.
Faced with the danger of dying from starvation or against the giants, the commander had no choice but to accept, even though he didn’t like some of these conditions.
As for Elizabeth, she tried to refuse some of them, saying that they were too much for someone like her, but Dante insisted and convinced her in the end.
She was extremely happy for the number of things that Dante had done for her until now, and also guilty that she couldn’t do anything to repay him for his kindness.
After all, a demon, one of the races that were hated the most in the Holy Kingdom, was risking his life here only to give her food and security. Her guilt was understandable.
Even if she became a saintess, she still couldn’t give him anything. The only valuable thing she could get from becoming a saintess was an angel bloodline core, but that would be completely useless for a demon like Dante.
"Dante, by the way..." Elizabeth suddenly looked at Dante’s face, sensing an object covering it, and asked: "What happened to Skylar’s blindfold? Did you lose it?"
"No, it’s here with me." Dante brought his blindfold from his pocket: "I just don’t feel like I need it anymore. I’ll return it to Skylar if I ever meet him again."
Elizabeth nodded, but just then, she felt a silky fabric wrapping around her eyes.
"Or you can have it. I don’t really mind." Dante said while wrapping the blindfold around Elizabeth’s eyes.
"C-can I really have it?" Elizabeth touched her blindfold, sensing the soft and comfortable fabric.
She didn’t really need the blindfold, as it wouldn’t give her any benefits. She just felt that wearing a blindfold would make her cooler and feel prettier, even though she couldn’t see herself.
"As I said, I don’t need it anymore. I don’t even need to wear the mask, it’s just as additional security." Dante stood up and took Elizabeth’s hand: "Anyway, follow me to your tent. I still haven’t given you the gift."
"A gift?" Elizabeth blinked in puzzlement, accepting Dante’s hand: "Didn’t you give me the gift already? What were all these things then!"
Didn’t he already make her position almost equal to the commander, give her a lot of food after weeks of barely eating anything, keep a powerful shadow with her to protect her all the time, ensure that her friends would always be safe, and even give her his blindfold?
Wasn’t all that not enough to be the most expensive gift ever?!
"Yeah, I have one more thing to give to you. You’ll be satisfied, trust me." Dante smiled for less than a second under his mask, pulling Elizabeth to her tent.

"So... you’re my lord’s shadow?"
In the treehouse, Ruby examined Fafnir from head to toe, seeing him in his humanoid form.
Healthy milky white skin, one purple eye and one slit silver eye, long white hair, and a handsome face that was affected by the sudden increase in his stats.
"So, you’re the lucky woman that my master enslaved against his will? I have always wanted to meet you face-to-face." Fafnir wrote in the air before gritting his teeth: "You filthy bitch."
Ruby’s eyes widened: "Bitch? What did I do to you?!"
While Fafnir was writing a response, Ruby smirked and rubbed the enslaving sigil on her forehead: "Don’t tell me... are you jealous that I was marked by my lord? Hehe, don’t be mad, I can inscribe the word ’bastard’ on your head if that would make you feel better. Getting an inscription from the lord’s chosen slave is a blessing to you!"
"You are the bitch that tried to seduce my pure, innocent master." Fafnir clenched his fist and added: "You are also the one who made him cry and feel guilty and depressed. You made my glorious master C̴̩͝R̶̫̽Y̸̬̓."
The last word, cry, suddenly exploded in the air, sending a shiver down Ruby’s spine.
"I... I didn’t mean to do this!" Ruby sweated heavily: "I was stupid when I tried to seduce him with my filthy body, and he’s now happy that I’m his slave!"
"He slept peacefully after my massage, and he enjoyed every meal that I made... wait," Ruby suddenly narrowed her eyes: "And who are you to judge me? You’re just a fake shadow, while I’m his first and only slave! You should kneel before me and apologize—Ah!"
Before she could complete her sentence, Fafnir suddenly threw the word "bitch" to her face, then he seized the opportunity to use Shadowstep and hold her from behind, one hand choking her and the other holding her arms.
"You... dare..."
Ruby immediately attacked him with plant spikes and projectiles, but several shields of shadow flames appeared out of nowhere and blocked her attacks.
Most plants were weak to flames!
After a few moments, Ruby finally lost consciousness.
Fafnir rolled his eyes in annoyance and carried her unconscious body over his shoulder. He hadn’t heard anything from Dante yet, which meant that Dante didn’t care.
’Right, my master told me to help her reach the nearest town, but he didn’t say that she had to be conscious.’
’I’m just following his order in my own way.’
’And I’m certainly his favourite!’
