The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 367: Mourn Our Losses
Chapter 367: Mourn Our Losses
Nikolai annoyingly cursed inside his hide-out upon learning from his Scions that the bastard Ahmed not only dared to touch his wife but also carried her in his arms. He was currently in his hide-out not known to anyone except for Mineah, Abel, and Fritz.
This demonic plague took quite a toll on him. Yes, he survived and did not die like the others but somehow it still hindered some of his powers. It would take him a while to fully boost his energy back to normal. But on the bright side, he was at least able to communicate with his Scions through their bond without any hassle. He could give them instructions and receive reports about everything that was happening while everyone thought he was dead.
He had purposely not told Mineah that he was suffering from a few side effects because of the Terminar Plague so as to worry her even more. He knew he would eventually get better thanks to her divine blood flowing in his veins because of their bond. Add to that, him feeding from her was doing wonders not just in blocking the venom from the Terminar insect but also in flushing out the remnant toxins from its bite in his body.
"F*ck, I will make sure you’ll suffer a gruesome death, Ahmed," he cursed out loud as he whimpered through the sudden pain he would feel once in a while. He couldn’t imagine the worst of what his people experienced when they fell victim to this plague.
[Marlo, make sure to save everyone that can be saved. Also, monitor the shadow well situation in the province of Goza. Keep my wife and Abel updated as well and...] Nikolai instructed.
[Yes, Your Majesty. Everyone is in their positions as we speak and doing things according to your orders. It’s fortunate that there was only one demonic insect which is already dead. But the contagion is still spreading because of the already infected people and we’re trying our best to contain the infection within the province] Marlo reported.
Nikolai gave more instructions before cutting off their connection as he started getting cold sweats because of the pain. He was still struggling to use most of his power at the moment.
Abel had to remain inside the palace to make sure things were running smoothly inside and also to protect the people who were loyal to him. Nikolai was aware that more waves would come from Ahmed and that he must remain patient to make sure things would play out according to his plan.
Not only that, he needed Abel to ensure that the province of Goza wouldn’t be wiped out from their kingdom. He was sure that they would suggest total destruction of the province to erase the remaining evidence of their propaganda should there be any which was something he would never let happen.
The Wagner Clan was a very powerful clan but very unlike the Rossi Clan whose reputation was tainted. Through the years, the Wagner Clan maintained their good name and image with the Valcrezian. No one would have imagined that behind the good deeds for their people, lay a hidden agenda, that it was all just an evil act to make sure the throne would end up belonging to their clan. It was a well thought-out plan which they probably prepared over the course of many years.
Ahmed was not as stupid as others but it was fortunate that Nikolai could see through the man. He had played neutral and kept his silence on many things so as to not raise suspicion that he was secretly planning a sinister act against Nikolai’s rule.
[Mine, can you not open your eyes now? I can’t stand the fact that another man is carrying you in his arms. I might end up appearing in front of you guys just so I can grab you from the bastard.] Nikolai couldn’t help but complain to his wife through their bond.
[Lai, don’t do anything stupid. I passed out and it would be very awkward if I opened my eyes so soon. Just bear with it a bit more. We wouldn’t want our enemy to be suspicious...] Mineah reminded to which Nikolai could only grunt in annoyance.
He quickly connected his telepathic powers to Abel and said, [Tell your wife Dani to stay by Mine and not to leave her side even for a second. Please, Abel, make sure that Dani won’t allow that bastard Ahmed to get too close to my wife... This should be the last time he gets his hand on my wife!]
[Relax, Your Majesty. I believe Her Majesty knows what she is doing...] Abel answered.
Nikolai growled and retorted, [What if it was Dani, huh? What if you saw someone with malicious intent carrying your wife, Abel? Would you still say the same thing? Just do as I say. I want Dani to be with Mineah twenty-four-seven to make sure that Ahmed doesn’t get close to her and keep him at arm’s length!] freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Meanwhile, Abel shook his head but quickly did as Nikolai had instructed because, like Nikolai had mentioned, he wouldn’t want anyone touching his wife either!
[Dani, please go to where the Queen make sure that this Ahmed is at arms from her. Marlo had reported that she had passed out so Ahmed is carrying her to her right now. It won’t look good if our Queen is being carried by such a man so go to her and have Marlo carry her instead,] Abel quickly relayed to his wife.
[Alright, I’m on my way to her now. I’m taking Marlo with me,] Dani commented.
[Thank you. Also, please be extra careful. I don’t want you getting hurt or being infected so make sure you are well-protected by the spell okay? I don’t want to become a widower again. I want you to be my last wife, Dani,] Abel straightforwardly declared and he meant every word. For some reason, he could no longer see himself being with anyone else other than Dani. He was already so used to her that he simply couldn’t accept the thought of losing her.
Abel heard her chuckle through their bond as she boldly stated, [Don’t worry. I won’t let that happen. Remember that you’re stuck with me forever. I’ll be you’re only wife for this lifetime, Abel.]
Hearing those words from her never failed to put the widest smile on his face.
[And I’m looking forward to spending this lifetime with you my dear, wife.] Abel hummed in great spirit.
"How can you even smile when Nikolai just died?!"
Abel snapped back to reality hearing the Queen Mother’s shout. He hadn’t noticed her arrival in his office as he was very focused on flirting with his wife. Not everyone knew of the actual situation about Nikolai and the Queen Mother was one of them. Nikolai decided not to tell his mother about what was going on because he knew that Queen Mother Rania struggled with acting realistically. He couldn’t risk anyone doubting so keeping her in the dark was the best course of action as Sage and Ahmed would not be suspicious.
"I humbly apologize for my manners, Queen Mother. I was talking to my wife through our bond and she was trying to comfort me... I am so sorry if this action of mine upset you," Abel politely bowed and apologized.
"They found Nikolai’s blood-stained clothes but for some reason, even after seeing it with my own eyes, I still can’t believe it... My son is not someone to die so easily," Rania said with gritted teeth.
"I too believe that there is more to this, Queen Mother. If what you think is right then there must be a reason as to why King Nikolai would allow this to happen. Let’s trust his decision," Abel couldn’t help but drop some hints to Queen Mother.
Queen Rania’s face suddenly lit up but before she could utter a word, Abel quickly followed, "We must stay strong and investigate this matter strictly, Queen Mother. We must bring justice for our king and make those responsible pay. This incident... there’s more to it, so we must not let them destroy the province of Goza."
There was a terse silence so Abel continued, "I just received the good news that the Ebodian healers are able to cure those who are in the initial state of infection."
"That is indeed good news, but it doesn’t excuse the many lives have we lost because of this plague," The Queen Mother grunted with a clenched jaw. "You’re right, I will not allow those responsible for this to get away. They must be punished for their crimes."
"Let’s give them what they want, Queen Mother. Someone to sit on the throne. If they bring up Raul reigning as the new king, then let it happen, Queen Mother," Abel said with a straight face. At this point, he was sure that the Queen Mother got a grasp of the situation. Raul was a key person in all this. "We cannot hold a burial rite for our King because technically we didn’t find his body, but a mourning ritual will be necessary. We must mourn our losses..."
The Queen Mother looked straight into Abel’s eyes and said, "Do what you must, Abel."
