The Cursed Demon Prince-Chapter 218: Bloody Dress
Hades continued to stare blankly at the wall, unresponsive to her presence and words. Panic began to set in, time was running out, and she needed to snap him out of his trance before she lost her own soul too.
With her hands cupping his face, she turned his head toward hers, his eyes on her even though they weren’t truly seeing her. She brushed her thumb gently over his skin, which felt cold to her touch. "Please, Hades, you need to wake up. I don’t have much time here; I’ll be leaving soon. I need you to snap out of it so we can return to Valerie, to Viktor and Lucian... to our home."
Lilith swallowed hard. "Let’s get married as soon as possible. We’ll start our own little family too, and we’ll live happily ever after." She could feel her body growing hot, her heartbeat rapidly increasing.
Dear gods, she needed to leave now. But she wasn’t going to leave Hades behind. She would pull him out, even if it cost her life. He was worth dying for.
She decided to take another approach, perhaps talking about his mother would help. "I know I never met your mother, but I can tell she was a wonderful woman who..." She coughed, blood dripping from the side of her lips. "I can tell she was a wonderful woman who loved you dearly. I know you’re heartbroken about the tree, and you have every right to be... but you still have the memories of your time with her, and that... the king or nobody can never take away from you. It will always be in your heart."
Lilith closed her eyes, struggling to breathe through her mouth. "Those memories are worth fighting for. You are worth fighting for. So fight for your life, for the memories of the ones you’ve loved, and the ones you still have ahead of you. Don’t let the demon take them away from you. You deserve to live. You..."
Lilith coughed again, more blood spilling from her mouth and dripping down her dress. Her hands slid from his face to his shoulders, gripping them tightly for support. She could feel her strength withering away with every passing second. Her eyes closed as she leaned forward, resting her head on his shoulder.
Seconds passed in silence that felt like hours. Lilith couldn’t tell how much longer she could hold on. Everything hurt so badly. Tears slipped from her eyes, landing on his arm, which lay loosely on his thighs.
After what felt like forever, Lilith stiffened, she felt him move. She lifted her head weakly, her eyes widening. Hades had his eyes closed, one hand gripping his head. She could see the tension in his muscles.
Without the strength to speak, Lilith threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly, pressing her warmth against his cold body as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
She missed him so much.
"Lilith..."
The sound of his voice broke and fixed her at the same time. Lilith pulled away from him to look into his face. Hades was looking at her, really looking at her.
His eyes immediately grew worried at the sight of blood covering her chin. "You’re dying. You need to leave now."
Her smile broadened. "Hades... you have no idea how happy I am to see you. To hear your voice. I’ve missed you so much." She continued to cry.
Hades wiped her tears away. "Words can’t express how happy I am to see you too, but you need to leave, Lilith. You’ll die if you stay here any longer."
Lilith blinked multiple times. "Will you come with me?"
He smiled. "I will come back to you. I promise. First, I need you to leave. Everything will be alright, I promise."
She nodded, taking in a deep breath. Hades kissed her forehead before engulfing her in a short embrace. "I will return to you, even if it’s the last thing I do."
"I will be waiting for you," she whispered, pulling away from him.
"Good. Go now."
Suddenly swept over by a surge of strength, Lilith rose to her feet, turned around, and ran out of the room. She needed to return to the place she came from. She jumped into the pool of water and landed back in the room with white walls. As she leaned against one of the walls, she felt her body grow light, and then everything went blank.
~~~
The silence around her was concerning. Lilith groaned as she gently peeled her eyes open. It took her a while to adjust, and when she did, she noticed she was in her chamber, lying on the bed with a blanket over her body.
Her eyes shifted to the clock. it was almost dusk. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Lilith couldn’t remember anything after leaving Hades’ mind. How had she gotten here? And how long had she been asleep? Unfortunately for her, these questions were left unanswered, as she was alone in her room.
A groan escaped her lips as she forced herself to sit up. Her whole body still felt heavy, and every movement hurt. She was tempted to go back to sleep, but she needed to find out what was going on.
As she pushed the blanket off her, ready to swing her legs off the bed, she heard the sound of the door opening and closing, followed by footsteps approaching her bedroom.
Salistra came into view, holding a tray with a glass of water and a bowl that Lilith couldn’t quite tell what was inside.
"Salistra, what’s going on? What happened? How long have I been here?" Lilith bombarded the older woman with questions.
Salistra placed the tray by the bedside. "Take this first before we begin speaking," she said, handing her the bowl.
"What’s this?" Lilith eyed the black liquid suspiciously.
"Medicine. It will rid you of tiredness and body pains."
Lilith nodded before gulping down the liquid. She had expected it to taste awful, but it surprisingly didn’t have any taste. "Now, what’s going on? How long have I been asleep?" she asked, placing the bowl back on the tray.
"Three days..."
"What!? I was unconscious for three days?" she shrieked, her eyes widening in surprise.
"Yes. Your body needed rest to recuperate," the witch replied.
"I still don’t feel well-rested," she murmured. "Where’s everybody? What about Hades? Was I able to save him?" she asked.
Salistra smiled softly. "Everyone is fine. And about Hades... you’ll have to ask him yourself."
Lilith frowned. "What do you mean.."
The door opened again, and another set of footsteps echoed through the room. Lilith’s eyes widened, her mouth falling open as she looked at the man standing in front of her.
"You look quite well, love."
Salistra picked up the tray and quietly excused herself, giving them the privacy they needed.
Lilith climbed down from the bed and rushed toward Hades, throwing herself into his arms in a tight embrace, her legs wrapping around his torso.
