Chapter 990: Conversation Over Dinner

Raphael sighed inwardly and reluctantly stepped away from Rowena as he made his way to the door. With a wave of his hand, his shirt was back on his body and a blanket covered Rowena's almost naked body in bed. He wouldn't want anyone to even take a glimpse of her beautiful body.

"Good evening, Seventh Prince—pardon from the intrusion." The servant noticed Rowena in bed. "But your father and mother insisted that all of you go to the banquet room and enjoy a meal together."

"Is that so?" Raphael actually wanted to stay in his room and enjoy his time with Rowena...

"We'll be there then," Rowena called out as she went down the bed and made herself look presentable. She gave a look at Raphael's face and said. "I think that's the best way to keep them happy, right?"

Rowena wanted Raphael's parents' approval and to keep Raphael happy, but more than that, she was afraid of what lies her father would say if left to his own devices.

"Let's go."

Dinner with the King and Queen of Cretea was quiet and uneventful, it was something that made Rowena relieved.  Although her father conversed with the gods and acted as if they were on the same grounds—there was no topic that made her flinch inside.

No mention of anything that put her on edge as she ate her meal.

Rowena did her best to be polite.  Raphael on the other hand noticed Rowena's silence.

The Seventh Prince being the youngest of his family was often accompanied by many other gods and goddesses his age, he was gregarious and good with people—it was only recently that he started to enjoy the silence of being with the person he loved.

However, he didn't want Rowena to always be silent and detached.  Truth be told, Raphael was actually worried about Rowena's attachment to Julian, although the woman never mentioned the man again after they've separated.

For now though, Raphael cleared his throat and said.

"We will be having our own house."

"What?" Queen Lilith and nearly dropped her goblet of wine. "But didn't you say—"

"Of course, we'll be staying in my room for a certain duration, however it's still best for a couple to live separately, don't you think?" Raphael said and looked over fondly at Rowena. "We will be living there once we are married."

"Mhmm, that's what I told him," King Areal commented.

"Growl." Queen Lilith narrowed her eyes on her husband.

The King of Cretea simply smiled and looked at his son. "I've heard a lot of good things from the reputation of both yours, King Draco and that of your daughter—for now, I would like to boast about my son's accomplishments."

"Father..." Raphael started.

"You don't have to be shy, after all you've proven to us how determined you were in marrying her." King Areal chuckled. "Or do you prefer to do it yourself? Perhaps that's the issue."

"Well, my father has given quite a diffic

ult amount of tasks, to begin with," Raphael said.

"It's only essential for one to prove their worth after all." King Draco added with a careful smile. "I suppose I don't have to ask you to slay a dragon for my daughter's task."

"Haha, don't worry about it--he's already done that and more." King Areal said. "However, for the house, there was a particular task I've given to him. Tell me, Rowena—what do you think are the benefits of being a king with several sons?"

Rowena, who had been silent, was a little shocked, but quickly gave an answer.

"You can send your sons as delegates," she said.

"That's right." King Areal laughed. "There are a lot of responsibilities here in Cretea that keep me preoccupied—the disaster of gods not getting along with each other is a headache of its own, but pair it with other realms requesting assistance or for involvement and even a god wouldn't have enough time. Naturally, Raphael's task fell in one of these domains."

"I see... Do, what did you do, Raphael?" Rowena was genuinely interested. It was incredible what lengths this man would go for her and it made her stomach churned. It seemed, the past month was eventful for him too. "Where did you go?"

"The underworld realm." Raphael said.

"Have you been there, Draco?" King Areal asked.

"One of its entrances is around the elven realm territory, and I've encountered and slayed demons in the past." King Draco shrugged. "They are not too difficult to deal with."

"Ah, so it means that you've not encountered a demon lord yet," King Areal said.

"Demon Lords are too cautious to go out of their abyssal realm," King Draco pointed out.

"I suppose it means that you haven't been in the heart of its city. We do conduct trade with them from time to time—reluctantly due to their aggressive nature, but they're still people too. But my son met not only one but two demon lords."

Rowena's eyes widened and she grabbed Raphael's hand from underneath the table. "Are you okay? How did you—"

"I'm here and perfectly fine, aren't I?" Raphael grinned before his expression changed to a more thoughtful one. "It was a bit difficult to encounter two of them, they were having a territorial dispute over one of the sulfuric lakes and were engaged in mortal combat, but the matter was dealt with swiftly upon my arrival."

"That's amazing," Rowena said in awe.

Once again, she was reminded and impressed with the fact that the person she loved was a powerful god.

"It was nothing really." Raphael cleared his throat and returned to his food. "It was but one of the many things that I have to deal with to determine how much I've loved you."

Rowena's face turned red and for a moment, it almost seemed like it was just the two of them in the room.

She squeezed his hand and then whispered into his ear. "I would for one love to go and see this house that you got for us, Raphael."

Row

ena was so happy being around his side, it almost felt like she was allowed to act her age and be nothing more but a young woman in love.

And for a moment, she wanted to be selfish and be happy.

Raphael glanced at Rowena's face and nodded instantly. His smile was sweet and thoughtful. "We'll go after dinner."
