The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 78: Leon Search and Agares Fight
Chapter 78: Leon Search and Agares Fight
In Leon’s embrace, Cassandra couldn’t stop crying as she imagined the cruelty the killer had inflicted on the villagers.
Seeing the massive destruction, the woman began to doubt whether her parents were still alive.
As her lover, Leon couldn’t explain in detail what had happened to Faircallen.
Until solid evidence was found about the true perpetrator, his current suspicion still pointed toward Agares.
It was hard to believe that Agares—the same man who had saved her younger sister twice—could commit such cruelty. But Leon had been taught by Casper never to judge someone without proof.
Whether it be testimony from survivors or traces that could strengthen the case, Leon had to find something—not just for himself, but for Cassandra and the rest of the villagers.
Not wanting to see Cassandra cry endlessly, Leon struck the back of her neck hard—right at her consciousness point.
In seconds, she passed out in Leon’s arms. He carried Cassandra’s body and walked over to Erika, who was still on her horse.
"What did you do, Brother?" Erika asked, shocked.
"Take Cassandra home. Make sure she’s safe and doesn’t try to find out who destroyed Faircallen."
"What about you?"
Leon fell silent, turning back to look at the ruined village.
He clearly told Erika he would investigate the destruction of Faircallen on his own. It might take time, but he didn’t mind.
"I’ll find out what caused this village to fall. Until I return, don’t tell Cassandra anything about Faircallen," Leon instructed.
"Do you understand?"
Erika remained quiet for a moment, then cleared her throat and agreed to his command. She laid Cassandra’s body face down over the horse’s back.
Once everything was secured, Erika rode off, leaving the forest and heading home.
Leon stood in silence at the edge of the forest facing Faircallen. His search for the truth would begin with the neighboring villages.
He mounted his horse and rode into the village before continuing to the next one. He wanted to see what had really happened in Faircallen—and just how much damage had been done.
Not a single house remained standing. The ones that did were nothing more than scorched, blackened ruins on the verge of collapse.
Silence and the sound of rain were the only companions Leon had at that moment.
When he reached the village center, he saw three wooden crosses—fallen, broken, and not holding any corpses. Leon’s suspicion grew.
’If Agares destroyed this village, why would he bother building crosses?’ Leon wondered.
Not only crosses, but there were gallows too, adding to the mystery.
If Agares had truly annihilated the village, he wouldn’t waste time hanging or crucifying the victims. It would’ve been quicker to just kill them.
The destruction of a village would be easily detected by people from nearby village—there wasn’t much time to stage a scene.
It was all too confusing.
Leon continued riding through the village streets. He stopped when he saw five dead soldiers lying on the ground, now nothing but rotting bones.
From their armor and spears, Leon assumed they had been soldiers—but the cause of death remained a mystery.
"This really makes no sense."
"There’s a village to the east—if I’m not mistaken, it’s Akaren."
"Maybe I’ll start my investigation there."

"Activate skill!"
"Saber Skill: Eclipse Execution!"
[Saber Skill: Eclipse Execution Activated]
[-1000 Mana]
[Mana: 2400/6950] [-1000]
Agares hovered in the sky with Shadepiercer gripped in his hand. Behind him, a projection of a red moon and a bat-winged Dark God appeared.
Both projections began channeling dark energy forward, condensing into a massive purple sword pointed straight down.
Agares thrust his real sword downward, pointed the movement of the giant blade aimed at the Lich Mage before him.
The sword shot downward with immense force, accompanied by a terrifying blast of dark energy. The floor boss—none other than the Lich Mage—grinned wickedly.
"Come then, show me what you’ve got, you bastard!" the lich snarled.
"Take this!"
Agares raised his left hand to shoulder level. First it was open—then clenched into a tight fist.
The red moon behind him shattered into fragments, turning into meteors that rained down on the Lich Mage and the ruined city.
The boss tried to block the massive purple sword with a dark magic barrier. But the longer he resisted, the more intense the magical collision became—sparks of black lightning bursting in every direction.
Cracks spread across the magic shield, proof that the lich couldn’t hold much longer.
In moments, the shield shattered and the purple sword continued its descent—accompanied by the raining meteors.
"Damn it!"
BLAST!
A massive explosion erupted in black-purple light, followed by smaller impacts from the meteor strikes.
Agares smiled as a panel appeared showing the damage he’d dealt to the Lich Mage.
[+1200 dmg]
[Chain Effect Activated]
[Dark Mark Activated]
[Doom Activated]
Although the monster had 1400 HP before the strike, with the damage delivered, Doom would trigger shortly—adding 50% of the total damage as bonus.
That was more than enough to finish her off.
The Lich Mage rose from the rubble, grinning with blood dripping from his mouth, clutching his chest. He laughed, loud and mad.
"HAHAHA!"
"Your power still isn’t enough to kill me."
"Six... seven..."
"Why are you counting? Waiting for your death?"
"Eight... nine..."
"No," Agares said, looking up at the floating Lich Mage.
"I’m counting down your death."
"Ten!" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
A follow-up explosion erupted inside the Lich Mage, adding more damage. Agares appeared right before his eyes.
[+600 dmg]
[Doom Triggered]
"AAAAARGHH!"
The Lich Mage’s body was torn apart, limbs flying in all directions in gruesome fashion. Agares smiled, satisfied with the full activation of Doom’s effect.
He stepped forward to where her body had crashed down. There, the Lich Mage’s final sight before death was of Agares.
"What... was that?"
"That’s my power."
Soon after, the Lich Mage died, eyes wide open, blood drained, his body shattered. Agares smirked as the system panel appeared.
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have slain the floor boss]
[Name: Mythical Ruinbound]
[Type: Lich Mage]
[Level: 8]
[+10000 EXP]
[EXP: 343500/420250] [+10000]
"Tch, I still need a ton of EXP to level up."
"No matter—there are still plenty of floors to conquer."
"If I make it to the lowest floor, I should reach stage six or seven."
[Dropped Item:]
[+20 Gold Coins]
[1x Mythical Arcane]
[1x Void Myth Core]
[1x Mythical Core]
[15x Monster Core]
Aoi looked at the list of dropped items Agares had obtained. Seeing multiple core items reminded her of the gems he’d bought a while ago. He hadn’t used them yet.
"Do you remember the gems you bought?" Aoi asked.
Agares stored the items and turned. "Yeah, why?"
"You haven’t used them yet, remember?"
"Ah!"
"You’re right!"
"The earlier fights completely distracted me."
"No wonder I struggled."
[Floor Boss Reset:]
[00:00:59:25]
A system panel appeared above the boss room. It showed that players who defeated the floor boss had one hour to leave, while new challengers had to wait an hour for the boss to respawn.
"We still have time."
"Let’s do our setup here."
"Nyx."
[Standby Mode Deactivated]
[Do you need anything, Master?]
Agares tapped his magic pouch and brought out two dark-affinity gems he got from Lo—Ebonflare Gem Shard and Obsidian Umbra Core.
His right hand held the two gems, while his left held the Void Myth Core. Agares asked Nyx to do something for him.
"Please identify the Void Myth Core and compare it with the two gems in my right hand."
[Understood, Master!]
[Starting item identification]
[Item scan initiated]
[Item scan complete]
[Item Name: Void Myth Core]
[Level: High/Rare]
[Affinity: Darkness]
[Description: A core obtained from a darkness-type monster that has mastered void techniques. Can open void rifts under certain conditions.]
[Buff: After three consecutive identical attacks, triggers Shatterfield, reducing enemy DEF & Magic Resist by 20% || Deactivates enemy buffs for 5s]
[Comparison:]
[Ebonflare Gem Shard and Obsidian Umbra Core offer superior effects for non-mage classes. In this case, I recommend using those two instead of the Void Myth Core.]
"Hmm, I see."
"Alright. Show me the Augment Core and Enhance Weapon menus."
[Menu displayed]
[Augment Core]
[Name] [Rank] [Affinity] [Buff]
[1. Black Spiral] [High] [Darkness] [+10% chance to delay enemy buffs for 15s]
[2. Crimson Pulse] [Mid] [Fire] [+5% burn effect on attackers]
[3.]
[4.]
[Enhance Weapon]
[Name] [Rank] [Affinity] [Buff]
[1. Shadow Barrier Gem] [High] [Darkness] [Increase Protection after used sword skill 40%]
[2.]
Agares nodded. Two menus appeared with empty slots—two in Augment Core, one in Enhance Weapon.
He inserted Ebonflare Gem Shard into the Enhance Weapon slot and Obsidian Umbra Core into Augment Core.
He simply dragged the gems into the open slots—it was that easy.
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have added an Augment Core]
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have enhanced your weapon]
[Augment Core]
[1. Black Spiral] [High] [Darkness] [+10% chance to delay enemy buffs for 15s]
[2. Crimson Pulse] [Mid] [Fire] [+5% burn effect on attackers]
[3. Obsidian Umbra Core] [High] [Darkness] [+20% effectiveness for darkness-type skills || -15% mana cost for darkness skills]
[4.]
[Enhance Weapon]
[1. Shadow Art Gem] [High] [Darkness] [Increase Damage after first skill 30%]
[2. Ebonflare Gem Shard] [High] [Darkness] [All skill attacks trigger [Dark Flame] → splash 50% damage in a 2m radius]
Agares smiled. The new enhancements didn’t increase his OVR, but the power of those two gems would definitely be felt in battle.
At the very least, his skill effectiveness would increase—and Dark Flame would trigger with every attack. That would definitely help him.
"Alright. That’s enough."
He glanced at the floor boss reset panel—thirty minutes remained. That meant he couldn’t linger here for long.
Agares had to move forward into the dungeon corridor and continue his journey to the next floor.
"Let’s go."
