The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 81: Agares Return
Chapter 81: Agares Return
’Agares’s strength... he can challenge such depths in this S-level dungeon?’ Silva wondered, shocked and stunned.
"Very well. We’ll wait for Agares’s team to return."
Milenia smiled. She snapped her fingers, shattering the ice flowers that had trapped Silva’s four companions.
They were freed at last. However, the ice magic hadn’t just frozen their bodies—it had also drained their stamina and mana.
Their HP and Mana panels appeared before them, and to their shock, that single spell had drained 250 HP and 500 Mana. Only a noble-stage mage could do that.
Was Milenia a noble-stage mage? No one knew for sure.
Once they were freed, they bowed and took their leave from Milenia. She smiled, but her next words stopped them in their walks. Silva and her teammates turned back quickly.
"Agares went into the dungeon alone."
"Alone?" Silva asked, startled.
"No one wanted to form a party with him because of his fugitive status. So isn’t it natural that he went alone?" Milenia replied with a smile.
"What kind of hardships has he faced up to now? Even we struggled to explore this dungeon as a mage squad," one of Silva’s companions said.
"I don’t know. But it’s those hardships that shaped his strength and character."
"Welcome to Midgard City," said Milenia.
Silva said nothing and walked away from the mansion. Some of her teammates expressed disbelief at Milenia’s words—they found it all hard to believe.
"No one can explore this dungeon alone, right?"
"Exactly. Even our party, backed by the hero Lux, struggles—how could a criminal like him survive?"
"We can’t trust that prostitute."
They kept arguing over what was true or false, what was good or bad. Silva remained quiet. Her mind was still replaying what Milenia had said—that Agares wasn’t someone ordinary adventurers like them could handle.
’Was she telling the truth? Has Agares grown into something terrifying?’ Silva wondered.
’More importantly... when is he coming back? He can’t stay in the dungeon forever, can he?’
A voice from behind startled Silva. She turned around to see who it was. Her companions had been calling her several times, but she hadn’t responded—too lost in her thoughts.
"What?" Silva asked.
"We don’t know when Agares will return. Are we going after him, or staying in the city?" one of them asked.
"We’ll stay in the city. If we chase after him, we’ll just lose track of him again."
"He’ll be back soon—I’m sure of it."
The four companions nodded in agreement. Among them, Silva was the strongest. She had reached Stage 4 and level 7, while the rest were only at Stage 4 and level 2.
They made their way to the city center and found an inn. That day, they rested after the exhausting trials of the dungeon.
Even so, Silva continued seeking information about Agares.
She asked merchants, townspeople, and mingled with locals at Goro’s Tavern. No one knew exactly where Agares had gone—but Silva did learn that he had a residence here.
That’s right! Agares had his own place in the city, one as large as Milenia’s mansion. Still, the townsfolk didn’t treat him like someone special.
They treated him like any other resident.
Silva went to the tavern and ordered a drink, asking Goro and Mel about Agares.
"He’s one of my regulars. But I don’t know when he’ll return," Goro replied.
"Are you looking for him too, like those other adventurers?" Goro asked, pointing at another party relaxing in the tavern.
Silva nodded and looked back. The other party seemed complete—except for an archer.
Goro explained that they had arrived three months ago and were still waiting for Agares.
"Every morning, they send someone to keep watch near the crystal stone. But to this day, they haven’t seen him."
Silva cleared her throat and nodded, fully believing what Goro said. There was no reason for him to lie to a customer—lying would only erode trust in his tavern.
The tavern’s principle was openness and mutual trust. Unless Agares had specifically asked Goro to keep his whereabouts secret, Goro was free to share what he knew.
While Silva was relaxing with a mug of beer in hand, the tavern door opened—and Leon’s party entered. They had explored up to floor 65.
"Oh, welcome back, Leon."
"The usual. Bring it upstairs," Leon said. Goro complied.
"Agares still hasn’t returned?" Leon asked, pausing mid-step.
"Nope. Get in line—lots of people are looking for him."
Goro gestured toward Silva and the other adventurers in the tavern. Leon turned and studied Silva and the others.
"You looking for revenge on him too?" Goro asked.
"No. I owe him a debt."
"I’ll be staying in the city for a few days. Maybe Agares will come back."
Silva overheard Leon. Her focus shifted, and she stared at him seriously—enough to make Leon uncomfortable.
"What is it?"
"Why do you owe him a debt? Isn’t he a bad person?" Silva asked.
"To you surface people who recklessly entered this dungeon to hunt Agares—sure, maybe he’s bad. But to me and my team, who once fought alongside him—he’s a good man!"
"Liar!" Silva snapped.
"Do I look like I’m lying?!" Leon fired back, his gaze sharp and serious.
"For all of you—forget about capturing Agares. With his strength, he could kill you all with ease," Leon said.
Elsewhere, at Midgard City’s crystal stone, the crystal glowed blue—signaling someone’s return from the dungeon. The two guards turned to look and were left speechless.
"He might be on one of the upper floors, having defeated countless monsters—his power now far surpasses yours, who’ve been lazing around in this run-down tavern!"
"No offense, Goro."
The guards requested the identity of the man in a black cloak and military shirt. He pulled out his teleportation token and showed his name. They were even more shocked.
"Lady Milenia is waiting at your residence," Nan said.
Leon turned to look back, then faced forward again, toward the crowd glaring at him with irritation.
"No one knows when Agares will return. You’re all waiting for something uncertain!" Leon declared.
"Who do you think you are, saying that to us?!"
"You bastard! I’ll kill you!"
The man in the black cloak paused, feeling weary and thirsty. Before going to Milenia’s mansion, he told Nan he wanted a sip of cold beer at Goro’s Tavern. Nan didn’t object.
Leon continued glaring at them. With his strength, he was confident he could defeat them all.
"Then let’s go to Milenia’s mansion and settle it there, you low-tier adventurers!" Leon snapped.
Just then, the tavern door swung open amid the dispute. Everyone who had been focused on Leon shifted their gaze.
Silva turned and saw the man who had just entered.
He wore a military shirt and a long black cloak, with the Shadepiercer sword at his waist.
He hadn’t come alone—Nan, the crystal stone guard, was with him.
"A... Agares?" Silva said, stunned.
Agares looked forward and was just as shocked—not by Leon causing a scene, but because he saw his dear friend... the one he had longed for... sitting there, drinking beer in casual clothes.
"Silva?"
