The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss-Chapter 141: Minus two
Chapter 141: Minus two
The wizard maintains his focus even after losing his arm, showing that he is not just anyone who falls into despair. He steps back a bit and begins to recite healing magic while the Tank focuses on protecting him.
’You think I’ll let you’ I try to infuse the greatest of madness with the element of destruction in my fists, quickly feeling my fists begin to disintegrate. I advance towards the Tank, striking the shield with a sequence of punches while the element of darkness begins to damage this shield.
The shield appears to contain the sacred element, which slows down the destruction caused by the element, and also seems to generate a barrier under the surrounding area, preventing the mana of the element of destruction from affecting the user, absorbing all the damage.
The swordsman soon advances behind me, but I dodge, and stop using the element of destruction.
’The shield has a sacred element, I need something else’ I tell the little girl, who then begins to attack the Tank. At this moment, the wizard has already used healing magic on the arm.
I notice that the shield’s barrier-generating ability has diminished, probably due to the damage.
’Tsk’ The wizard begins to use buff spells on his allies while the archer starts to focus on the little girl, noticing that she is the weakest, but I finally see the clearest proof that the little girl is my shadow, just like all the shadows.
The little girl’s wounds do not bleed, they are just dark holes that soon close, it was not regeneration, it was simply her replacing the shadows in their place.
My shadows, although living beings, are more difficult to kill because they are not 100% physical, they are a mixture of something physical and something non-physical, since they are the materialization of the shadows.
And that gives me an idea, I change targets, advancing against the swordsman while making the little girl focus on the Tank so he can’t interfere.
’I bet this guy’s sword has a sacred element’ My mana is still malfunctioning and has not recovered, so I must spend it carefully.
"[Dark Lance]" I begin to fire black lances in sequence at the archer who is to my right about 15 meters away, she has difficulty dodging the large amount while I press the swordsman with my punches.
The wizard forms a magical barrier to help the archer, who soon begins to shoot arrows at me.
’Fighting against everyone while I have to limit my expenses is more difficult than I expected...’ I reinforce my tail with mana and begin to block the arrows, noticing that some arrows have different basic elements.
"[Dark Imprisonment]" I use dark magic to try to contain the archer’s movements, the chains bind to her arms and legs, temporarily preventing her movements.
’I need some magic that can break the barrier the wizard made to protect the archer’ I think about the spells I know.
Unfortunately, they are not as varied as I would like, after my training with the librarian, I should focus on learning a large amount of spells instead of just converting mana into elements.
"[Shadowy Slashing]" a slash of darkness goes towards the archer.
"[Imperial Flame]" suddenly the swordsman uses some magic that sets the blade of his sword on fire, my hands that were previously able to go toe-to-toe against the sword now have lost the advantage and I started taking damage.
I back away and the swordsman takes advantage of this to quickly change position and protect the archer from my magical attack.
’They are a good group... but if they’re going to keep protecting their teammates like this...’ An obvious weakness, their loyalty to their companions will not allow them to let a teammate be the target.
"GIRL USE THE STRONGEST MAGIC YOU HAVE ON THE ARCHER" I yell at the little girl, making my intentions obvious to everyone, the Tank quickly goes towards the archer to try to protect her.
The little girl begins to form several magical circles of black and red colors while her tail also begins to form magical circles.
I hear the sound of something breaking, as if the air itself were being shattered, while the entire ambient mana seems to tremble due to the magical circles of the girl.
"Amplified rupture magic [Flare’yo Hientei]" The girl speaks for the first time, her voice is similar to mine but more childish.
After she says this, the magical circles activate and everything seems to be disconnected, the environment appears disjointed while the air itself and the mana are shattered, the destruction dismantles the very atmosphere, creating a vacuum that begins to suck in the things around.
The Tank’s shield was shattered while the Tank’s own body seems to have been fragmented as if it were made of glass, a death that is realistically impossible, since something made of flesh cannot be broken like glass.
The attack even affected me a bit, causing minor injuries on my skin, the wounds have a form of cracked glass, I had never seen a rupture element attack before.
I take advantage of the damage to enter the shadows and go behind the archer, hugging her tightly from behind while biting her neck, devouring her while she is still alive.
My embrace breaks the bones in her arm while I notice her ribs also begin to break.
The sound of the neck bone and other bones cracking is easily audible as I enter the shadows and dodge an attack from the swordsman that almost hit my throat.
’Just two left’ I think as I lick the blood on my face, the taste is great, maybe high-level humans have a better flavor compared to low-level humans.
The swordsman and the wizard, although shaken by the death of their companions, still enter a formation.
’Many would let rage take over...’
"Be glad, human, you are worthy of praise," I say arrogantly.
"I don’t think I need the praise of a monster," he says, keeping full attention on me and the little girl who is now flying by my side.
The little girl seems quite tired after using that magic.
’How do my shadows supply her mana? And why wasn’t this girl affected by the horrible mana of this place? Shadows are so mysterious...’ This ability [Shadow Sculpture] is a true mystery.
It is very versatile, it allows me to create life and control shadows as I wish, and it doesn’t spend any mana, although being injured has made controlling her more difficult.
’I’ll think about that later’
"Don’t you think of surrendering, human? If you do, I can give you a quick death," I say, demonstrating my benevolence.
"I’m not in the mood to die today, and I’m even less inclined to allow something like you to continue living," he says, raising his sword.
"Silver Slash Art" He moves his sword down as he speaks nonsense, since he didn’t use mana, he didn’t use magic. For a moment, nothing happens, but soon my arm falls off.
"!!!?"
’How? He wasn’t close, and there was no indication of mana use, and it doesn’t seem like martial arts... what trick did he use... it wasn’t him’ He thinks I’ll fall for this, when it was actually the wizard who attacked.
"How about that, monster?" He speaks ’confidently’, but his confidence is shallow.
’A bluff, from what I can tell, it was a wind attack, and if he didn’t aim for my head, it’s because he has limits...’
"That was a very good attack, swordsman, but I don’t think a mere missing arm is a big problem," A new arm soon regenerates, I crouch down and pick up my fallen arm.
I start eating it until I finish it completely.
"...Disgusting aberration" He insults me as he sees me eating my severed arm, nothing is more nutritious than my own body at the moment, as soon as I ate this severed arm, part of my mana returned.
"That way, I’ll think you want to insult me, soon me, a lady so beautiful and pure," I say sarcastically, the reason I haven’t attacked him yet is because I’m evaluating.
I don’t know how strong he really is, and I don’t know what abilities he has, attacking recklessly will be bad, even though I’m starving and my desire to kill is only growing.
I can feel it, the group was strong, but had two things that limited them, first they avoided generating large-scale attacks, perhaps protecting something I judge to be a relic that allows them to stay in the forest.
And second, the swordsman is limiting himself too much, I notice from his previous attacks that he was doing simpler and weaker attacks, and using little magic.
In other words, he probably has abilities that are not suitable for group use.
’He’s probably scared too... he fears losing his last ally, so he resorts to bluffs...’ I say this because of the way his body reacts to my movements.
"Beautiful and pure? I’ve seen slaves more beautiful and prostitutes purer than an aberration like you"
"Hmm, is that so? If you’re so confident, why don’t you kill me right now?" I send the little girl to pay attention to the wizard, he is the biggest problem right now because of the long-range attacks.
"...I don’t want to damage my prize too much"
’Arrogant’ He really thinks these stupid bluffs are going to fool me? If I hadn’t noticed that it was the wizard who made the attack, I might have been fooled, but it wasn’t that hard to notice that it was the wizard.
’That attack was wind... he aimed at my arm... could it be that he...’
"Hahahaha, you have a good trick there," I say as I realize exactly what he did and why he aimed at my arm.
I move about 4 meters to the right, trying to find the exact position, soon I replicate what the wizard did, cutting off the swordsman’s arm, who lets out a sound of pain but soon regains his posture, holding the sword with one hand.
The wizard soon tries to start healing the swordsman.
What the wizard did was actually simple, he used mana and converted it into the wind element, then used the vacuum and rupture created by the little girl’s attack, that’s why the attack was aimed at my arm.
He simply used the remnants of the rupture to attack me, he used an attack that was already partially ready, so he could make a stealthy attack without me noticing.
Basically, what hurt me was the little girl’s attack, he just used wind element mana to activate the rupture effect that was still easily perceptible in the environment, and that’s why he didn’t choose where to aim.
"May I know what an aberration like you is doing here?" He asks, realizing that I noticed his little trick and even replicated it.
"I’m hungry, so I’m hunting," The simplest and most primitive answer is my choice of response.
"It’s obvious that it would be that, in the end, what to expect from a mere beast" His tone of voice is irritated as he prepares.
"Then let’s finish this soon? This mere beast is hungry and has delicious meals waiting for me"
