The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor-Chapter 47: The Confession Game
"Ding dong! You have a new message! Please check it."
After chatting half the day about other women with Vivian, Lynn felt somewhat uneasy, especially since he hadn’t finished his conversation with her. Suddenly, a message from "Cao Cao" on the Communication Stone popped in.
Beautiful and Invincible Helena: "Lord Lynn, Father wants to chase you away. I have a way to keep you here. Please come to the Princess’s Mansion at 8 PM tonight upon receiving this message."
Princess Helena’s message was brief and not very informative. Lynn didn’t bother hiding it from Vivian and generously displayed the message for her to see.
Vivian, after reading it, didn’t express any opinions but simply held Little Yuna tighter.
This was the second woman today to inform him that the Celestial Mandate Emperor planned to drive him away. Although Lynn didn’t need this notification, he was still grateful for their concern.
For Vivian, who informed him first, repaying her with devotion seemed the only way, but for Princess Helena, the second informer, Lynn planned to stand her up as repayment.
After all, with his wife and child possibly arriving soon, who had the time to care about outsiders...
Of course, this is just one reason. The real reason Lynn decided not to meet her was truly a repayment for Princess Helena’s kind reminder.
Because Lynn was determined to go against the Celestial Mandate Emperor, if he were to get involved with Princess Helena now, things would become awkward for her when he clashed with her father.
"I won’t be going to the Princess’s Mansion tonight."
Vivian didn’t speak, but that didn’t mean Lynn didn’t need to explain. He wasn’t one of those TV drama characters who could resolve a misunderstanding in a single sentence but let it drag on unnecessarily for over ten episodes.
"There’s no deep relationship between us; you don’t need to mind me."
Vivian was a very simple girl; her emotions could be easily read on her face. Of course, Lynn chose her as his first girlfriend for a reason. As a rookie in love, girls like Vivian, who are easy to understand, are perfect for starting a relationship.
"I’ve only met Princess Helena once, you were present then too. There’s nothing between us. Instead of viewing her as a rival in love, I suggest you focus your attention on Xiya, whom I am truly interested in."
Lynn said this while holding one of Vivian’s hands, which relieved Little Yuna who was being hugged like a doll. He then solemnly began discussing Xiya with her.
He wasn’t planning on being a hypocrite, pretending to be a gentleman on the surface but secretly messing around. In Miracle World, where the strong have everything, if he continued to sneak around, wouldn’t it be a waste of this opportunity to travel through times?
"What is your relationship with Xiya?"
Of course, Vivian knew the name Xiya; after all, the commotion when His Majesty the Emperor wanted to take her as a concubine and was flatly rejected was quite big. Vivian had even met her once, although they had no interaction.
"We’re just friends for now. My adopted daughter is from her welfare home, but I am interested in her and want her to be Little Yuri’s mom too..."
"Of course, my love for you is no less than my fondness for her, and since you are my first girlfriend, it already means you will always have a place by my side."
Holding Vivian’s small hand, Lynn honestly confessed his greedy thoughts. He didn’t know what effect these words would have on an ordinary girl, but for noble-born Vivian, it wasn’t something entirely unacceptable.
Indeed, after hearing Lynn’s straightforward confession, Vivian didn’t show any signs of feeling betrayed by a scumbag, though that didn’t mean she completely accepted it either.
"Xiya is a very kind girl, and the welfare home she runs is a model for the entire Empire. But she is an Elf! Humans and Elves being together is destined to be tragic."
Vivian wasn’t strongly opposing Lynn and Xiya being together but was rather stating a common understanding across the continent’s nations and races.
The average lifespan of the Human Race is a mere seventy years, while Elves, one of the long-living species, can live a thousand years easily.
There have been cases before of Elves and Humans marrying, but they invariably ended in tragedy.
Anyone can imagine when the Human husband or wife goes from youth to old age while his or her Elf lover ages only a little in human terms.
Separation due to life is uncertain, but separation due to death is definite.
The decades with a lover are just a small segment in an Elf’s life, but for a Human, it’s their entire lifetime.
Yet the Elf Race is a race that values emotions highly. They usually have only one lover in their lifetime, and if their lover dies before them, the remaining one often chooses to live alone, or, in cases of more melancholic personality, might even choose to die together.
These are historical lessons. Although Humans and Elves look similar, they are absolutely not suitable for marriage with each other.
There’s no reason for something destined to end tragically for others to be just right for Lynn.
"Is it because of the lifespan problem? Then, what do you think, how long can a Human Demigod live?"
Having studied the Miracle World thoroughly, Lynn certainly understood the differences "in setting" between Elves and Humans, but in the face of absolute strength, many things appear flashy but ultimately powerless.
"A Human Demigod can live a thousand... but Lynn, are you really a Demigod?"
Prompted by Lynn’s question about history and biology, Vivian instinctively responded until she realized something and then posed another question to Lynn.
"Level 999, absolutely genuine."
Lynn sat up straight, tried to assume a more majestic pose, and smugly said to Vivian.
Vivian: "..."
The Marquis Jones couple, who were listening in: "..."
Though they had considered the possibility of Lynn really being a Demigod, and being on friendly terms with him made them more believing, much more than others.
But when Lynn reiterated his level, Vivian’s family still found it hard to believe.
After all, Demigod powerhouses have been extinct in the entire Miracle World for five hundred years. It’s not just about them; even their fathers, grandfathers, and beyond haven’t seen a living Demigod powerhouse.
In some of the small countries on the Divine Protection Continent, the founding history is even shorter than the disappearance of Demigod powerhouses. If you mention Demigods to someone from those nations, their reply might just be, "What’s that supposed to be?"
