The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 200: This is the end...?
"Bai LiuXian had always hated the fact that he wasn’t born with a spiritual core and was envious of me. When he came to know about how I became a half-demon, he decided to copy those despicable methods. He hunted down weak cultivators and killed them just to harvest their spiritual cores. One day he became a half-demon and that’s when I learned the truth. At first, I couldn’t believe it and kept telling myself over and over again that my brother wasn’t a monster, but... I was wrong. By the time I realized it, he had already turned into a monster. By the time he became a half-demon, he was already used to the blood and killing. He had started to enjoy the hunt and didn’t care about the reason anymore. Even after becoming a half-demon, he continued to kill people."
"If that’s true then why didn’t you just report him?"
"I couldn’t report him," Bai YiJun shook his head as he spoke, "If people knew that he was a half-demon, they would know about me as well and just like him, I would also be seen as a monster. I didn’t want to be a monster..."
"So you could’ve just gotten rid of him. Why did you have to kill him and frame me?"
"I couldn’t let others know what he had done nor could I have let them know that he was a half-demon. If I had just killed him in secret, somewhere along the line, I would have been suspected. I couldn’t risk that so I came up with a plan. I pretended to be you and I made it obvious that you were being framed. I was sure that the investigators would be able to realize the truth and that they would look for the one who framed you. Of course, In that situation, I would never be suspected."
Jie Fu Lian didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or not as he heard this.
"You were the only true friend I had so it would make no sense for me to frame you and I was sure that the investigators would not suspect me because of that. It was the best plan that I could come up with..."
"Sounds messed up," Jie Fu Lian scoffed, "I was hoping that you’d give me a better reason. I thought I might be able to understand you, but this... It’s nonsense. You aren’t even giving me a reason, you are just making up excuses."
"I was wrong. I know it," Bai YiJun shook his head as he spoke, "I’m not asking for your forgiveness ’cause I know that I don’t deserve it."
"You don’t need to ask for my forgiveness since you already got it," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he suddenly spoke, "You brought me back, didn’t you? You even saved us inside the abyss and killed the master of curses. Throughout the way, you helped us in secret. You fully paid back the debt that you owed me and there is nothing left. I want to hate you but I can’t. If I hate you, it would mean I’m letting myself be stuck in the past, unable to move on. I’m not such a pitiful person. I’ll no longer let you or your actions affect my life. From now on, Bai YiJun, we are going to walk two different paths and I hope that our paths never collide."
"Does that mean this is the end... Of our friendship...?"
"It would be selfish of you to think I would want to keep this so-called friendship."
Bai YiJun kept staring at the ground, unable to raise his head out of guilt. Jie Fu Lian was right. Being forgiven was already a shock. To ask for more would be selfish.
"Goodbye, Bai YiJun."
Tears started uncontrollably flowing down Bai YiJun’s eyes but he said nothing in response. He felt as if he didn’t deserve to say one last ’goodbye’.
As Jie Fu Lian left the place, Bai YiJun didn’t even try to stop him nor did he dare go after him.
This was his punishment and he needed to face it...
When Hua Tianshu came back with the osmanthus cakes, he saw Jie Fu Lian leaving and asked with a small frown, "What happened? Are we leaving already?"
Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this and softly nodded his head as he spoke, "We no longer had anything to say to each other and I’m still worried about Hua Meifang so I thought that we should leave early and get back to the HuiXue sect."
Hua Tianshu frowned as he heard this. He didn’t know the real identity of Heaven’s eye and it wasn’t like Jie Fu Lian was planning to tell him either. Hua Tianshu, who was oblivious to the situation, simply could not understand what was going on inside Jie Fu Lian’s mind.
"You look to be in a good mood," Hua Tianshu commented and Jie Fu Lian nodded his head with a small chuckle.
"I finally got to take some weight off my chest," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a long relieved sigh, "It’s like a breath of fresh air."
Just seeing the small smile on Jie Fu Lian’s face brightened up Hua Tianshu’s mood and he no longer questioned anything. He didn’t know what happened between Bai YiJun and Jie Fu Lian but since the man was not ready to tell him anything, Hua Tianshu also didn’t bother digging into it.
When they went back to the HuiXue sect, Hua Meifang had already regained consciousness and was no longer acting like a madwoman.
The cure seemed to have worked and she was back to her former self. However, the dragon’s bone had not done any miracles and the woman was now a normal human being without a spiritual core.
They knew that the results were not guaranteed but they were still surprised and disappointed by it.
Hua Meifang was heart-broken, however, at the end of the day, she didn’t blame anyone for her misfortune. She didn’t cry in front of others and didn’t dare show a displeased expression. She kept a cheerful facade and hid away her emotions. However, Hua Tianshu could see right through her. He knew that his sister was sad about losing her cultivation.
"Don’t worry about it!" Hua Meifang happily exclaimed, "I’ll recreate my spiritual core from scratch and I’ll regain my cultivation through my own skills. Just being alive and well is enough for me!"
Those were clearly empty words, but when said with such resolution and a warm smile, even Jie Fu Lian could not help but believe in her.
To recreate a spiritual core from scratch was impossible and to regain her cultivation was even more impossible. Even Hua Meifang was well aware of this fact.
"In the end, you were able to stop both Jin Long and the master of curses," Hua Meifang continued with a smile as she looked at Jie Fu Lian, "Thank you."
For some reason, Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but smile as he saw the similarity in Hua Meifang and Hua Tianshu. The siblings were truly kind and considerate. They were willing to hide away their own feelings in order to not bother the person standing in front of them.
Upon Hua Meifang’s request, Jie Fu Lian and Hua Tianshu stopped looking for a way for her to regain cultivation. Instead, she asked for Jie Fu Lian to join the HuiXue sect.
However, Jie Fu Lian politely declined her offer.
He was still in the demon king’s body and he needed to properly act the part in order to keep the peace between the mortal realm and the demon realm.
However, Hua Tianshu wasn’t going to let Jie Fu Lian go just like that. Having been kept apart for eight years was already enough and Hua Tianshu no longer wanted to live a day without Jie Fu Lian by his side. As a result, Jie Fu Lian once again found a Tail for himself.
Hua Tianshu was never kicked out of the HuiXue sect and remained as one of their elders. However, he moved to the demon realm and continued to live with Jie Fu Lian, hardly ever going back to visit the HuiXue sect.
In the beginning, the sect master of the HuiXue sect was worried for Hua Tianshu, however, when he saw the way Jie Fu Lian treated Hua Tianshu, all his worries were proven to be useless.
Hua Tianshu was happy and that was what mattered.
In the demon realm, Kong Xun, the demon king’s most-trusted subordinate almost had a shock when Jie Fu Lian first brought Hua Tianshu back. He immediately understood that the one standing in front of him wasn’t Shen Fang. It was Jie Fu Lian.
At first, it sounded ridiculous and Kong Xun denied it. However, in the end, he had to come to terms with it. However, just because he was okay with this arrangement did not mean everybody else in the demon realm felt the same.
There were many demons who could not accept the fact that Shen Fang had been succeeded by Jie Fu Lian and hence, they constantly tried to pick a fight with Jie Fu Lian.
As a result, everyone who doubted Jie Fu Lian was faced with undisputable defeats and on his own merits, Jie Fu Lian was finally accepted as the new demon king.
For Jie Fu Lian and Hua Tianshu, life was not as easy as they had planned it to be.
To live a normal life was really just a dream that they had once talked about.
However, no matter how chaotic it got, they were always together and that was all that mattered...
