The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 384: The Zhous’ or the Hous’?
Jia paced back and forth in her room, her restless mind concocting all kinds of possibilities in her head.
"Meng Rin said that Miss. Nuwa was connected to the Zhuo family and had something to do with the younger brother, Zhuo Zihan. But Hou Jielun had been in contact with the sex workers too."
She touched her chin in deep thought.
Is it possible that Miss. Nuwa ever came in contact with Hou Jielun?
She couldn’t rule out the possibility despite the information from Meng Rin that she was so clearly connected with Zhuo Zihan. The last she was seen being taken in a car could have either been to the Hou or the Zhuo villa.
Am I overcomplicating things? If Miss. Nuwa had anything to do with Zhuo Zihan, would she take anybody else as the client?
Was their relationship that serious?
She had shown a picture of Nuwa to Yang Cheng but he hadn’t seen her in the Hou mansion. She had so many questions but didn’t know whom to ask.
Maybe I could ask Zhuo Zihan himself? Or would it ruffle some unnecessary feathers?
Damn it!
"Oh dear! Who is causing my poor Jia such stress?"
Yang Bingqing stepped in bringing a tray with her.
"Aunt."
She grinned. "Look I brought some soup for you~"
She quickly said, "You didn’t have to take the trouble."
"Pah! It’s no trouble at all. You are just like my daughter," she cleared her throat, "hopefully soon-to-be my daughter-in-law."
Jia’s brow twitched.
"Come, come, you need to eat all of it!" She harrumphed. "Don’t worry. I cook decently."
She smiled. "I never doubted you for a moment."
They rested on the bed and Yang Bingqing cheerfully began to feed her.
"I-I can do it myself-"
"Preposterous! You look so tired. I wouldn’t even let you lift a finger. So let your adorable aunty do it for you! Also, I can be your agony aunt so you can share everything with me~"
"I was just thinking about the case."
Her movements paused and a strange glint formed in her eyes. But she quickly dropped it.
"Oof! Mingshen brought you here to rest, not work," she glared.
"I couldn’t help it. Uncle and I were talking this morning and he told me something that churned my brain into thinking."
"Oh? What is it?" She tilted her head.
Jia wasn’t sure if she should tell her about Hou Jielun’s part about disrespecting her dignity, which even Yang Cheng had not told her about. So she skipped that part and focused on the other point.
"Oh. Hou Jielun has been using sex workers to..."
"Yes."
"But how is it connected to the cult’s case you are working on?" She asked even though she knew the answer.
"One of the women we found in the cult gathering belonged to Huayuan. That’s why we visited Huayuan and from there we learned about Miss. Nuwa. So somehow She is connected with Huayuan and the one we caught wants to bring those culprits out who had a hand in Miss. Nuwa’s disappearance."
That’s a very lofty aspiration, she thought inwardly. Sure, Huayuan is quite influential but taking down a political family?
But suddenly, the last conversation with Xie Zi Han’s sprung to her mind. He had interrogated a goon who had helped a member of this supposed She cult into helping him get a woman to warm a rich man’s bed. And he had said that it was either of the families - Zhuo or the Hou.
"What’s your guess?" Yang Bingqing wanted to know if Jia had any theory to test her own that she was thinking about.
"Well..." Jia coughed. "You know Meng Rin, right?"
"Yes, that young woman Bai Yingtai helped out."
"She got to know that Miss. Nuwa was probably related to Zhuo Zihan. The latter liked her but their relationship never saw the light of the day."
Ah...
Now that Yang Bingqing thought about it, she had indeed heard about some rumors floating surrounding this mystery woman. But she never paid any heed.
"So you think the Zhou family could be the right bet?"
"Actually, I am thinking the opposite."
She raised her brow.
"I don’t know the extent of their relationship or even if they had one but Zhuo Zihan is still unmarried. It’s just my conjecture that he is perhaps unmarried because he couldn’t forget about Miss. Nuwa? Or it could also be that he is simply not interested in marriage. But I can only come to a conclusion if I could ask him once personally."
"Oh. You want to talk to Zhuo Zihan?" She blinked.
She smiled awkwardly. "It wouldn’t hurt I think. I want to see his reactions. Did he really know about Miss. Nuwa or it was another woman altogether? And if it was indeed her, then did his family have anything to do with her disappearance possibly because they didn’t like her? I know he wouldn’t outrightly confess it even if he knew but I think his body language could give at least some hints."
Yang Bingqing was in a deep thought.
"At this point, it could be either the Hou or Zhuo family involved and probably for different reasons. I cannot rule anybody out. But I feel if I get to talk with at least one family about what happened thirteen years ago, then it would help lift the fog."
"Oh I will help you!" She chirped. "We have...pretty decent relationship with the Zhuo family. Hous’ are out of the question especially after Cheng walked out years ago. But I can arrange a private meeting with Zhuo Zihan~"
Her eyes widened. "Really?"
Yang Bingqing crashed her head against her blessed chest. "Of course! I will do anything for my Jia! Just don’t tell Mingshen. He will be super salty about it," she harrumphed. "We will meet him together!"
"You will come too?"
"Of course~ You can trust me," she gestured a sealed lips sign. "I won’t leak the conversation at all."
And it will be a good decoy to know more about She too, her eyes narrowed.
Whoever is using my gang for their dirty purposes wouldn’t go unpunished.
Jia didn’t know if she was hallucinating but for a moment, she saw a flash of bloodlust in her eyes. She blinked once but that merry expression was back on her face.
Strange. Why did I feel I see a very different Aunt Bingqing for a second there?
