The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 391: That woman (1)
Yang Bingqing stood in front of Mingshen’s room the next day. This happened every year. She would completely lock herself out on her daughter’s death anniversary. Guilt would overwhelm her the next day as she thought she had a responsibility to hold this family together.
So she would always appear before Mingshen and Bojing to apologize to them. She had already met Bojing before he left for the lab and now she sighed as she stood before Mingshen’s room. She softly knocked and waited. When he didn’t come out, she pursed her lips helplessly.
He is definitely mad at me.
Yang Bingqing slowly twisted the doorknob and pushed the door inwards. The sight that greeted her froze her on the spot. Her hand lifted to cover her mouth that formed an O and she trembled.
"Oh my god..."
As it happened, Jia woke up at the same time and her gaze landed on Yang Bingqing, who was standing at the door, flabbergasted.
What’s wrong with her-
Suddenly Jia realized the blunder, who was in the form of a devil doctor sleeping right beside her without a care in the world and with his arm all over her waist, completely wrapped around it.
A steep silence dropped.
"...It’s not what you are thinking."
"O-Oh my God..." tears pooled in her eyes. "Will I hear the good news soon?"
"..."
Jia glared at Mingshen.
How the hell am I sleeping in Mingshen’s bed in the first place!
It was then that the memories came back to her about the long late night gossip about their wild confession stories. One topic led to the other and they kept talking and talking. At one point, Jia simply dozed off on the chair itself. The trickster devil, instead of taking her back to her room, comfortably settled her in his bed right next to him.
Jia jolted wide awake now and sat straight on the bed. "Aunt, please calm down. It’s all a misunderstanding."
She pinched Mingshen’s chest hard.
"Ouch, ouch!!"
Mingshen, who was happily in his lala land dreaming a not-so-very-innocent dream about Jia, was forced to wake up thanks to her violence.
"What is it?" He rubbed his eyes. "And here I was coming to the good part."
"Why am I on your bed!?" She glared.
He paused. "You fell asleep. I didn’t have the heart to take you to your room because I wanted to sleep with you."
A sharp gasp sounded and Mingshen finally saw his mother.
"Y-You...D-don’t tell me you did it to her while she was asleep!?"
His brow twitched heavily. "Did what?"
"You know the things that we don’t tell children!"
His gaze darkened. "Okay first of all, how exactly low do you think I can stoop to attack a woman in her sleep?"
"Isn’t Jia so attractive? How can any man not lose his sense of right and wrong?"
Jia felt complimented and disturbed at the same time.
"And second of all," he gritted his teeth, "she was asleep, not in a coma that she would miss...my apparent beastly attack."
"I don’t trust you if you would have doused her with something," she looked at him suspiciously.
"You seem very sure of that," he dryly said.
"Because you are my son. I would have surely thought of that to make Cheng mine if things would have come to that. Lucky that he fell for me very quickly."
Jia’s lips twitched incessantly. She didn’t know where to start but at the very least, she was extremely happy seeing Yang Bingqing bounce back to her original chirpy self.
"So am I going to hear good news?"
"You were just accusing me of being a beast and now you want a little beast?"
"Of course I would disown you if you had done something like that!" She glared. "I have not raised my son this way!"
"You just said you would have employed the same tactics."
"Quiet! Is this the way you talk to your frail and aged parents?" She sniffled.
"Hah!" Mingshen scoffed at her hypocrisy.
Jia quickly stepped out of the bed and straightened her messed up and ruffled hair.
"I will take my leave," she coughed.
She ran away at lightning speed but Yang Bingqing quickly caught up to her.
"Wait, wait, dear!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She came to a halt and looked back. She still couldn’t quite look her in the eye.
"I am sorry Aunt I shouldn’t have-"
"Oof, no worries dear. I am actually a little disappointed that nothing happened."
"..."
"Anyway, I actually came to tell you that Zhuo Zihan has agreed to meet us tomorrow."
Her eyes widened. "Oh. O-Of course."
But...
Considering that it was Eu-Meh’s death anniversary just yesterday and how the Zhuo family was involved in it, she wasn’t sure if Yang Bingqing was ready to meet him.
"Ah. You don’t have to worry dear. I will be fine," she smiled. "I have never blamed them."
Jia was silent. She thought she could have waited for a few more days but it didn’t matter if it was tomorrow, a week later or a month later. It was going to hurt nevertheless.
"Okay, Aunt. Let’s meet him tomorrow."
—
The maid of the Zhuo family welcomed them with a courteous smile. "Please come in. Sir is waiting for you in the living room."
As they stepped in, Zhuo Zihan got up from his seat and hugged Yang Bingqing with a smile. "Hello, Mrs. Yang."
"Aish, you look more and more handsome now~"
Jia was taken by surprise. She remembered the last time she had seen him at the charity banquet. He had held no interest in the function and didn’t exhibit any particular expressions. But towards Yang Bingqing, he acted differently as if she was his real aunt.
"Where is your brother?"
His expression slightly changed. "He is away for a checkup."
As far as Jia knew, Zhuo Syaoran lived in a separate villa.
"Please tell me how I can help you."
"Hehe it’s not me. It’s actually Jia. She is working on a case and we thought that your answers...would help her a lot," she smiled.
Zhuo Zihan threw Jia a glance. "Sure."
Jia exhaled a small breath and said, "Thank you for taking out the time, Mr. Zhuo. There is an important person I came across during my investigation. I would like to know if you know anything about..." she slowly said, "a woman named Miss. Nuwa."
