Larisa struggled to move herself off the bed, she had to confess she was the sluggishest being on earth, as much as college was crucial, sleep was as important, but she got up anyway and scurried to the bathroom.

She had completed dressing up when she heard the door banging, she beamed a smile because she knew the only person knocking on the door of her moderate apartment was her best friend, Annelise.

She opened the door to meet a tall, fit pretty blonde haired girl staring at her with gleaming blue eyes that could kill. Her outfit as always was an all black leather on leather.

Their friendship transpired oddly because they were contrary to themselves. Annelise was from a wealthy family, she was physically strong and could take out five men at once but she was from a standard family and couldn’t even take out a rat anyways, she acted all tough and stubborn on the outside but on the inside, she was a real softie.

"if only you’d stop being such a lazy ass, you’d have been having fun with me rather than stuff yourself in your duvet watching kdramas".Annelise blurted out with a friendly glare as they strolled over to her Porsche car.

" I wasn’t watching kdramas....."

Larisa paused while Annelise made a disbelieving face.

"I was watching bts live concert I couldn’t even attend ugh" Larisa grunted, she was a huge Kdrama and Kpop fan, she loved bts more than anything and the fact she could never attend their concerts was killing her.

Her friend was rich but she’d never stoop so low to ask her for money and she wasn’t a fan. Annelise just stared at her in utter disappointment.

"Really? No like really? you’re going to waste your life crushing over a girly boy’s band that is never even going to notice you?"Annelise asked rhetorically, while Larisa rolled her huge brown eyes at her.

"ahhhh, don’t you dare, they’re more manly than any guy you’ve ever seen, and focus on your driving"

"please bare me the speech....they’re more colorful than any of the Barney shows I’ve ever seen and they sound like Barney too".

"They do not....".

"Please it’s enough, I don’t wanna hear another word about bts or I’m throwing you out of the car" Annelise finally cut Larisa off teasingly, Larisa pouted and started whining like a baby.

"so immature...you know I don’t find you cute right?" Annelise said, making Larisa mad.

" chugole!" Larisa cursed in Korean.

"you just cursed at me right? tsk," Annelise ignored. Someone watching their different personalities would think they could never be friends but they were closer than sisters.

Lectures had concluded for the day and Larisa and Annelise were heading out when someone stood in front of them. It was Danny, the guy that had been crushing on Larisa for an eternity but just wouldn’t acknowledge no for a response.

For a very odd reason, Larisa had never really liked a guy or dated, she felt like she was dead on the inside, and at 21, it was bizarre that she had never dated, talk less even kissed a guy, thought maybe it was because she was an introvert and she liked her alone time and having a boyfriend would be so stressful because of how lazy she was.

She could go on and on about why she would not date anytime soon....or later. Annelise had been trying to hook her up with a couple of guys but Larisa wouldn’t budge at all so she soon gave up.

"hi Larisa, I barely see you anywhere" Danny said with a shy smile. He was a nice guy and all and really good looking too but Larisa still wasn’t interested instead she found it pretty annoying.

"presumably cause I’m a ghost," Larisa said while Annelise gave her a warning look telling her to be nice, she just rolled her eyes as usual looking up to her because of her average height.

Alone she would feel tall but whenever she was next to Annelise, she’d feel short.

"I guess I’ll leave you guys to chat more, I’ll wait for you in the car" Annelise said and was starting to walk away when Larisa grabbed her and said.

"Don’t be silly, we have nothing to talk about, see you later Danny" She beamed a sweet smile and hopped away hand in hand with Annelise who was staring at her in bewilderment, while Danny’s mouth was left hanging open for words that couldn’t be found.

"Now that was harsh," Annelise said as she started her car engine.

"I’m just exhausted of him, he just won’t give up" Larisa stated with a scoff.

"Danny might be the only guy who’s willing to date you". Larisa couldn’t help but laugh. " And that’s why you’re coming with me" Annelise said with a straight face.

"To where? An exorcist?".This time her laughter was annoyingly loud.

"It’s a grand anniversary of an empire, my dad was invited but couldn’t go, so I’m going with you".

" cool...an empire?" Larisa was surprised, she had never caught a glimpse of an empire talk less gone to one, she’d have been excited to go but she would feel out of place which was kind of unnerving, she was definitely not good at socializing with people.

"yeah...well it’s not just an empire, it’s like a hidden fortress of some sort, it’s not even on the map, and foreigners aren’t allowed, except at a time like this"Annelise explained while Larisa listened and gasped in wonder. " oh... I see. So how did you know about the secret empire?"

"Hello..my dad got invited, news flash. It’s called Empire D".

" Empire D? That’s a weird name, what does the D stands for?".

"I don’t know, it’s probably a dick". Anne said with a wide grin on her face as she saw Larisa’s startled reaction and widened eyes.

"What the...Ugh I don’t know what to say." Larisa said as she rolled her eyes at her friend’s shameless lewdness, she had known Anne to be anything but modest or in any way ladylike, yet she pushed her flaws aside as she accepted her, flaws and all.

"Imagine all the guys had huge di.." Anne couldn’t complete her statements because Larisa’s hand flew to her mouth with widened eyes.

"Oh My God! What the heck’s wrong with you this morning, do you have to be so...." Larisa trailed off not knowing what to make off of her friend’s salacious tongue.

"Fine, I’ll be a fucking princess, I forgot you were an innocent angel so I won’t say anymore, I don’t wanna be struck by lightning." Anne said with a sarcastic smirk as she finally gave up and Larisa sighed in exasperation before withdrawing her hand.

"So when is the party? "Larisa asked.

"Next week". came Anne’s reply.

"You know I suck with people and worst, I wouldn’t even fit in an all grade A ball party at all, I’d feel so out of place". Larisa complained.

" hey it’s fine, besides aren’t you curious about the empire? And have you forgotten that I’m the disappointment of my family? They wanted a perfect princess but got this instead " Annelise said pointing her index finger at herself, making Larisa laugh and throw her head back.

"you’re right". Deep down, Larisa was curious about Empire D.

"I’m always right he he".

" Never..." the two friends giggled together, nothing was as special as their friendship, except her parents of course but Larisa didn’t have siblings so Annelise was the sister she’d never got and would always adore her.

Annelise, on other hand, had an older brother, the perfect abiding son for her parents, always walking behind the footsteps of his father which she found rather helpless, she thought a man was supposed to act for himself but her brother’s greed was enough to make him act like a fool.

She had Larisa already and she was more than grateful for that.

She had brown, long straight hair, beautiful large Hazel eyes with long thick lashes and beautiful pink lips with soft features and slim curvy body, her beauty was ethereal like, it was a shame she didn’t know it for herself.

Over the past years, she had learned that Larisa could be self-conscious and insecure about herself despite her looking like a goddess, thinking of it, Annelise subconsciously giggled at her friend’s innocence.

They arrived at the street food stall they were already close customers and the vendor immediately gave them their favorites which Larisa and Annelise couldn’t get enough of.

The day had ended and she went back to her moderate apartment worn out, it took a lot of energy to go out as she wasn’t an outgoing or lively person. Larisa was fast asleep when she had a weird dream, she saw a pair of glowing golden eyes like they were scorching with flames, she couldn’t see anything else or whom the eyes belonged to.

They were the most beautiful yet dangerous eyes she had ever seen, they were so vivid that at that point it didn’t feel like a dream, she tried to make out the person’s face but the entire place was a void of darkness and she couldn’t see anything but his blazing golden eyes, they scorched as hellish flames stirred into them.

"Larisa....".A male voice whispered her name and she knew it came from the owner of the golden eyes and then it faded in a distance along with the eyes and was left in the darkness until she opened her eyes panting and sweating, it wasn’t even a scary dream yet she got this adrenaline in her blood, there was a very unnatural feeling she couldn’t quite fathom but the golden eyes in her dream were so vivid, it didn’t feel like a dream as insane as it may sound even to her.

After a late night snack, she decided to sweep it under the rug and get her sleep.

Larisa and Annelise had to get prepared for their travel to Empire D, so they were busy preparing their visas which seemed like a workload for Larisa but deep down she was excited to go to the hidden Empire, as she had named it.

Meanwhile, Annelise was also excited to go, to unravel secrets that she thought they harbored because of how hidden and secretive the empire was since she was madly curious about the Empire.

The two best friends were looking forward to their trip to Empire D.
