The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 504: Breed Mates
Chapter 504: Breed Mates
Avian brought back Laverna with him and Lothaire went ahead to talk to her, leaving Larisa behind with Anne.
The girls walked down the hall as they chatted.
"Did you see the way he was looking at me? He might have liked good girls but not for long." Anne drawled with a mischievous smile on her lips as she spoke excitedly to Larisa.
"Yeah, good for you." Larisa mumbled with a dull voice, she seemed deeply troubled about something and Anne could see it as worry was visibly etched on her face.
"What’s wrong?" Anne queried, the mischievous look on her face was suddenly replaced with a worried one as she looked at her friend.
"You remember I told you I had nightmares before we left Empire D and I said it stopped after the sorceress died?" Larisa said trying to refresh Anne’s memory and she immediately nodded her head in affirmation, eager for her to continue.
"Well, we were wrong, it didn’t stop. I found out yesterday it was Hela, the goddess of death and I think she’s haunting me to kill me probably because Lothaire trapped her in the abyss." Larisa said with a glum look on her face, fear visible in her eyes as she spoke and Anne’s brows creased together as she heard her.
"What?!" Larisa had explained everything that happened to her, so she wasn’t in any way lost, instead she was left dumbstruck with the new findings.
"Well, Laverna’s back and Lothaire said she’d be able to help." Larisa said, trying to comfort herself with those words of hope but deep down, her instincts troubled her that it might not be that easy to get rid of Hela even though she was trapped in the abyss, so her mind troubled her with what ifs.
Anne was relieved to hear that she would be out of danger soon, so the worried expression on her face soon turned into a relieved one.
"That’s good to hear, with Lothaire by your side, no one can harm you." Anne said with a dreamy voice as she beamed a smile on her face, while Larisa let out a nervous chuckle.
Lothaire could save her from physical harm but could he save her from a spiritual attack? Her thoughts wandered aimlessly.
"I wonder why some evil can’t ever be fully eradicated, a part of it still lingers around just like Hela, she’s trapped in an abyss but she’s still able to manifest in the physical world? If she can hurt people even when trapped through the spiritual realm, then that shit’s fucked up." Anne said thoughtfully as she shook her head in wonderment, who knew the supernatural and things thought to be a myth existed in real life, she thought to herself as she couldn’t quite shake the feeling of the mind blowing discovery off her mind.
Anne didn’t mean any harm with her words, she just shared her thoughts out but somehow, it maneuvered it’s way murkily into Larisa’s head and she felt the cold eerie wind brush through her skin.
What if Anne was right and Hela could really hurt her and not just give her nightmares? She thought to herself, but she shook the inauspicious feeling as she thought that if Hela was able to hurt her, she would have done it a long time ago, which meant she couldn’t hurt her, or so she thought.
"She can’t hurt anyone, if she could she would have killed me a long time ago." Larisa said firmly and Anne’s brows raised up as she nodded in agreement with her words.
"Yea, silly me, you’re right." Anne said, clearing the tensity in the air with a light chuckle but why didn’t she feel right about it?
Why did she feel like it was only the beginning and what she was experiencing was just a taste of Hela’s venom? She tried to think positively, Laverna and Lothaire would take care of it and she was just overreacting, she chanted in her head like a mantra.
Suddenly a maid appeared from the corner of the hall, walking towards the both of them with lowered head.
"Miss Larisa, Master Lothaire demands for your presence in your private chamber immediately." The maid said politely as she bowed to them both in respect.
She stood frozen on the ground while waiting for Larisa’s reply, Larisa and Anne exchanged puzzled looks for a brief moment before she answered the maid, not to keep her or Lothaire waiting.
"Alright, uhm I’ll see you later Anne." Larisa said, waving her hand toward her friend before dashing out of her sight with the maid following meekly behind her.
Anne walked down the empty hall alone, she felt like going to the club but it was still too early so she was on her way to her room, to watch some movies before nighttime when she would go clubbing.
Zion was seating at the balcony in the hall, reading a book in serene peacefulness, after Onyx’s death, he enjoyed his quiet time more, especially in reading books.
He had a cheerful personality but she was one of the reasons why he was so bubbly and cheery about life but now she was gone, he couldn’t find his smile anymore, she had being his listening ear, his shoulder to lean on and a mother to him.
Anne abruptly stopped midway in her steps and a grin reached her cheeks when her eyes met a silver haired gorgeous looking man seated at the balcony alone in what looked like he was engrossed in a book, as he was unaware of her presence.
Zion’s silvery grey eyes peered holes into the book as he read about breed mates, but he lost focus when a familiar scent whiffed into his nostrils which stirred something inside of him, something dangerously irresistible.
"Zion!" He heard a sharp voice call out his name and his head whipped to the direction, startled to meet a pair of dark blue eyes staring at him.
Zion watched the blonde haired beauty walk into the balcony, occupying the seat next to him.
His silvery grey eyes caught sight of her exposed milky white legs as a result of her short skirt that made him salivate and he immediately tore his gaze off her as he was already harbouring lustful thoughts.
He was in turmoil with himself, with the strange feelings he got every time he looked at her or got her scent, there was a great chance that Lothaire was right and she was his breed mate, but he thought it was too early as he had never heard of any vampire who got their breed mate before reaching a hundred years.
Zion had made up his mind to avoid her if she really was his mate because they would never be able to be together, because after Lothaire would be imprisoned, Larisa and Anne would have no reason to be in Empire D and he feared that they would be compelled to forget all about the Empire.
He didn’t want to be in heartbreak for all of eternity, so he had no choice but to avoid her since the only way a mate wouldn’t be in deep torture was letting the breed mate go and not mating with them, since mating made the bond stronger and unable to resist. freёwebnoѵel.com
"There you are, I’ve been looking for you." Her voice brought him out of his thoughts and he stared at her for a split second before averting his gaze. He had to keep his resolve strong and avoid looking at her, since her face and body was heavily distracting and irresistible.
"Why have you been looking for me?" He asked with curiosity as he continued reading and his deep voice almost made her melt, no, she was tempted to take her panties off for him the more she stared at his gorgeous face and listened to his voice.
Zion saw her squirm in her seat uncomfortably and his doubts cleared as it was obvious he had an effect on her the way she affected him and it didn’t seem like she was keeping any resolve at the moment, instead it seemed like she couldn’t wait to take off her clothes for him.
"I uhm..about last night, why did you leave? was I not attractive like your vampire girls? Or because you like girls who act like proper ladies and I don’t?" Anne queried sharply with creased brows in confusion.
Zion stared at her perplexed for a moment, of course she knew what kind of girl he liked, Larisa must have told her, they were best friends anyways, he thought to himself, but now his type had changed, the breed mating system did a good job in giving him the opposite of what he preferred but he found himself longing for her in ways he couldn’t comprehend.
