Chapter 34 - The Fairy Queen

"W-Wait! She's one of the good ones!" A deep voice shouted.

"One of the good ones? What do you mean by that?" A female one countered.

"Like, a good succubus!"

"Oh, so you just assume all the other succubi are bad, huh?"

"...Well, it sounds rather rude if you say it like that, but yes. We're at war!"

I strode towards the collection of four women and two men, watching as Thrain tried to explain his rather racist verbiage as he stopped Baldrek from attacking the succubi.

Only roughly half an hour had passed since I took care of the two Flame Dragons and Princesses, and I had spent that short time essentially just wandering around the battlefield.

Most of the remaining succubi and fairies fighting had been willing to surrender once I showed them their Queen's unconscious body, which I was carrying around as Velrissa was tossed over my shoulder. Those that didn't were a small stat boost.

Besides that, I had been spamming [Devour] - as the entire battlefield was full of bloodied corpses. I felt a bit bad eating the dwarven and cyclops' bodies in front of the other still surviving soldiers, so I made a point to only consume those that were destroyed beyond recognition and were out of sight of any other soldiers.

Considering the extreme amount of casualties, even that smaller number was more than enough to get the skills from them and level up those skills a fair bit. And so, from a combination of skills and stats gained from the dead soldiers, I had become stronger.

The first skill I had achieved from the dwarves was [Smithing], which was just about what you'd expect it to be.

[Smithing] - Increase the quality and success rate when heating, hammering, or forging.

It was a useful skill to have, but it would be more useful in the far future than at the moment. Even if Vargan wasn't willing to submit to me, I would force some of the dwarves and cyclops to work under me.

Preferably, Vargan does agree to serve under me, and then I have the literal Dwarven King who can make and upgrade gear for me. At that point, I'd need to level up [Smithing] a lot to surpass what he could do.

The second skill was of a similar vein overall, as it was [Enchant].

[Enchant] - Increase the quality and success rate when applying magical elements to an object.

It was also a nice skill to have, but it would still only really be truly useful once I leveled it up a lot and could surpass what a dwarf could do.

Aside from the dwarves, I also got two skills from the cyclops I devoured - the first of which was [Weakness Sense].

[Weakness Sense] - Sense the weakest part of an object.

I assumed the average cyclops probably used this skill to repair or upgrade armor and weapons, as being able to see the weak point would allow you to fix or improve that weak point.

But, I could see a different use for it - mainly, in a fight. I hadn't fought any armor-using opponents yet, as the direwolfs were too primitive to use it while the succubi and fairies didn't wear any either, but if I ever did it would be helpful. I could target their weak point, and possibly break their armor mid-fight.

However, the second skill was even more appealing - [Runecraft].

[Runecraft] - Increase the quality and success rate when utilizing runes.

It seemed that cyclops relied more on runes to upgrade equipment than enchanting, as evident from the skill. Runecrafting was a lot more versatile than just applying magic to weapons and armor, so it had more use than the other skills early on.

Beyond the dwarves and cyclopses that died on my side, I was also able to consume some of the creatures under the succubi's control. One of which was a couple of devils.

From them, the first skill I gained was [Demonic Power], which I was rather happy about.

[Demonic Power] - The ability to control the demonic phenomena.

It was the type of magic that devils used, which was very, very, versatile.

From the Power of Destruction to Serafall's ice magic and Sona's water magic to even the Phenex flames. All of it was based in demonic power.

It would take a lot of learning and practice, but I could be able to access a large variety of techniques, abilities, and overall types of magic through the medium.

And, it also gave me some more information on my actual set of abilities. A lot of the skills I could use, like [Hellfire] or [Material Change] were very magical-like, and I had assumed they drew upon some form of magic, most likely demonic power considering I'm in the underworld, to activate.

But, it seemed not. My abilities were something else entirely - something outside of the normal constraints and laws of the DxD world, and based more on the gamer system I had.

Still, having access to demonic power now was a game changer. I wouldn't have to rely on solely gaining combat skills through [Devour], and I might be able to create actual game skills through the power.

The second skill I obtained from the devils I consumed was one of the luckiest things to ever happen to me, in this life or the past one. It seemed my high LUK was actually paying off.

[Worthless] - The ability to invalidate something, turning it worthless.

Somehow, a member of the Belial had found themselves enslaved to one of the Succubus Princesses and was now in my stomach. I'd probably never know how considering the man's head had literally been knawed off by a dire wolf.

The signature skill of the Belial clan, and one of the most overall broken skills amongst the devil clans - which was saying a lot, considering there were a lot of broken abilities in devil bloodline magic.

Essentially, depending on my knowledge and understanding of something, I can negate it.

What's that? You're launching a fireball at me? Good thing I have [Fireball] at a high level, meaning I can instantly make your fireball worthless.

The ceiling of the skill was pretty much limitless - damn near anything could be negated, as Diehauser had even negated the Phenex Immortality. But, it also relied on my understanding of what I was trying to negate. If I didn't have a good idea of the characteristics I was negating, then it wouldn't be effective.

I'd need to start doing a lot of research once I took over this forest and opened myself up to the rest of the underworld.

The next species I had found amongst the corpses was the occasional Fallen Angel, which allowed me to unlock [Holy Power].

[Holy Power] - The ability to control the holy phenomena.

It wasn't as versatile as demonic power, but it would be useful while I was in the underworld. Excluding the serious big shots in the underworld, who had enough demonic power to not have a weakness to holy power, I'd be dealing a lot more damage to any devils I had to fight.

The second skill was also useful but for a different reason.

[Translator] - Instantly translate different languages.

It was a bit of a strange skill to get, as I already had [Global Communication]. Granted, I hadn't seen if [Global Communication] applied to intelligent languages or just to beastly ones, so it might turn out to be useful.

Or, it could overlap and end up being useless. But, I won't complain about another skill.

Finally, I had consumed the two Flame Dragons to finish off my skill-gaining for the time being. The first skill I had gained was [Scale Armor].

[Scale Armor] - Cover your body in a thick layer of scales.

It was another layer of armor I could utilize if I wasn't wearing my actual armor, or if it had broken in a fight. Not insanely overpowered or anything, but a solid skill to have. The second skill was about the same level of usefulness.

[Ash Cloud] - Summon a cloud of ash around you.

Essentially, it was a retreating skill. If I was ever in a tough spot, I could use it and run. Pretty decent, but I wasn't aiming to ever have to retreat from a fight.

The final two skills were very reminiscent of the two Blizzard Dragons I had slain.

[Flame Inferno] - Summon an inferno around you, increasing the power of [Fire] by 25%!

[Fire Beam] - Fire a beam of pure fire!

They were essentially the fire versions of the Blizzard Dragon skills I had gotten, so they overall were decent. I hope I'll be able to get a quest in the future to get some more draconic skills, but for now, I won't complain.

"Go tell any succubi still fighting to surrender," I ordered, turning back to the group as I nodded at Momo and Kyon, "Talia, lead me to the Fairy Queen. I'm finishing this war now."

"Got it," Momo nodded in confirmation, quickly stepping away from the group with Kyon as they went to officially end the battle.

"Guard Vargan and the Princesses," I ordered Baldrek, blatantly interrupting his and Thrain's conversation as I stepped up to him. I placed my hand on his shoulder, using [Light Heal].

The man glowed with a soft bright light, glancing down disbelievingly as his wounds closed slightly and he felt less tired. The skill was still a pretty low level, even with all the fallen fairies I had consumed, so it didn't completely heal him.

But, it should be enough in case one of the other Princesses appeared. I assumed the last two were guarding the Fairy Queen, but I couldn't be sure.

"Can you do the same thing to my King?" Baldrek asked gruffly, admiring his healed body.

"Already did," I hummed, surprising the man as Vargan was still unconscious, "He'd be dead right now if I didn't. He should wake up soon."

"T-Thank you, Beast King," Baldrek grunted, abruptly tipping his head at me in a slight bow, "I owe you mine and my King's life. I will never forget this!"

Well, I'm glad someones grateful. I did save him from being torn up by a dragon after all.

"Think nothing of it," I waved him off dismissively, but I hoped he would definitely think something of it. Once this battle was over, that bit of goodwill might be what convinces Vargan to bend the knee.

"We'll finish things up here," Thrain nodded at me, "Go and finish what you must!"

"Lead me to the Fairy Queen," I ordered Talia as I nodded at Thrain's words, and Talia nodded her little head rapidly. I reached up, wrapping my palm around her again, and then was gone from the battlefield in a blur.

"M-More to the west!" Talia shouted from my grip, her voice muffled by the wind blowing around us. I nodded, continuing to follow her directions as I dashed deeper and deeper into the forest.

As I did, the dark forest around me suddenly brightened a bit, the trees and bushes around me seeming to gain vibrancy and glow lightly. The darkness slowly crept away, replaced by an almost eerie peace and calmness.

It was strange, going from a war-torn battlefield to a completely calm and silent section of the forest. No enemies tried to stop me - and I swear I could even hear the chirping of birds.

Finally, I reached where Talia was guiding me to - between two towering, abnormally large, trees was an opening. As I stepped through them, I was in an oasis of sorts.

A small pond sat in front of me, and a large waterfall poured downward into it. The trees around us swayed supernaturally despite there being no wind to blow them. Overall, compared to the dark and misty terrain the succubi lived in, I much preferred this one.

I casually raised my hand to my side, squeezing my hand as a sharp bolt of pure light shot at me. I caught it, casually crushing it into fragments of light.

"Leave now, Beast King," Apparently, my reputation really preceded me, because the woman who slowly peeked around one of the towering trees knew who I was.

[Margret] [Fairy Princess] - Level 52

Despite not being a succubus, she was just as beautiful as one. But, her beauty was in a different way than the absurdly sexy succubi - though she was wearing an outfit I'd expect to see on one, as it was practically a miniature bikini made of leaves.

Compared to the tiny Talia and other fairies I had seen, she was notably a very normal size - looking a fair bit over 5 feet tall. She had long legs, a curvy body, and large breasts. But, what shined the most was her beautiful face, lightly glowing skin, and short bright blonde hair. Her eyes bored into me with a deathly serious look, and in her hands was a glowing bow made of pure-white light.

"Nah," I said simply, raising my hand and pointing at the Succubus Queen slumped over my shoulder, "You recognize her?"

Margret's eyes went wide as she realized who I was carrying around, and her hands stiffened around her bow.

"If you wanna live," I gave her some advice as she raised her bow again, "Don't shoot again, okay?"

"Y-You," She grit her teeth, her sharp eyes glaring at me as her hands shook lightly in nervousness.

"Stand down, Margret," A soft, melodic voice spoke, and a figure stepped around from behind the waterfall.

"M-My Queen," Margret stuttered, looking nervously as the woman came out to face me herself.

I blinked in surprise as I took in the image of the Fairy Queen, who was tall - very tall. She was easily over seven feet tall, and maybe closer to eight feet. She looked as if someone had taken a normal beautiful woman and gigantified her.

She had long glowing pure-white hair that flowed down to her waist, a gorgeous thin face with an overly calm smile, and a rather sexy body. She was also clad in only a leaf bikini, and she had large breasts - literally, they were gigantic on her huge body - along with a thin waist, thick hips, and long legs. Her skin was also a light glowing white.

[Tiffana] [Fairy Queen] - Level 70

Wait, she was just here? No Succubus Princesses were guarding her?

"Beast King," She said seriously, smiling brightly at me, "I've been waiting to meet you."

She has?

"Why's that?" I asked curiously.

"I've seen you, Beast King," She started to walk towards me, her eyes looking serious but also slightly floaty, "You're meant for great things."

I stared at her blankly. Was she one of those crazy ladies?

"...Thanks?" I answered, unsure what she was getting at.

"Now, let us put an end to this war," She abruptly reached down, pulling off her leaf bikini in one movement and revealing her naked body to me, "By commencing our marriage and making love!"

I stared at her blankly.

Well, didn't see that coming.
