The Disdained Luna Who Rose Alone-Chapter 151 Rescued
Evelyn’s POV
The Bloodbane Pack warriors tore into the Rogues with practiced efficiency. Calvin shifted mid-leap, transforming from wolf to his imposing human form. Immediately, his Beta rushed forward with clothes, and within seconds Calvin was dressed in his usual perfect suit, looking perfectly put-together despite having just arrived from battle.
"Alpha Calvin," the Rogue King said, trying to sound casual but clearly tense. "This is... unexpected."
Calvin’s face was deadly calm. "Alpha Kane. You’re attacking humans and threatening my mate. Did you think you’d live through tonight?"
My heart skipped at what he said. Mate? We were divorced, separated for three years now. But he said it like it was a fact that couldn’t be changed.
"Former mate, from what I’ve heard," Kane replied, watching Calvin’s ready-to-fight stance. "The great Alpha Calvin Wolfe, abandoned by his Luna. Quite the gossip among packs."
Calvin moved incredibly fast, his fist hitting Kane’s jaw with a loud crack. "Watch your mouth. A coward who can only run and hide shouldn’t talk big."
Kane quickly dodged away, touching his jaw, then spat out, "At least I don’t get played by women."
What happened next was a violent fight between the two Alphas.
Calvin was stronger and fought with more control, but Kane fought dirty, getting in several nasty hits. Blood ran from a cut above Calvin’s eye, and his knuckles were bloody and torn. Kane wasn’t doing much better—his lip was split, his nose bleeding, and dark bruises were already forming on his ribs where Calvin had landed solid punches. The two were pretty evenly matched, trading brutal blows that would have killed a normal person.
Around us, Calvin’s warriors were overwhelming the Rogues. Seeing his forces decimated, the Rogue King snarled in frustration.
"This isn’t over, Calvin Wolfe," he growled, spitting blood onto the ground. With a sharp whistle, he called his remaining followers to retreat.
Calvin made to pursue, but I called out, "Let them go! The people need help!"
I could see Calvin was badly hurt, and I was worried Kane might be trying to lure him into a trap.
He hesitated, clearly wanting to finish the fight, but then nodded to his Beta. "Zeon, secure the area. Make sure they’re really gone."
As the immediate danger passed, I rushed to check on Eryx and Chunk, confirming they were injured but alive. When I turned back, Calvin was watching me, his expression unreadable despite the blood streaming down his face.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice deceptively gentle.
I shook my head. "I’m fine. But you’re not."
His lips quirked in what might have been an attempt at a smile. "I’ve had worse."
"That doesn’t make me feel better," I muttered, already reaching for the first aid kit in my emergency bag.
Back at the lodge, which thankfully wasn’t damaged, I carefully cleaned the cut of Calvin’s hurt hands. I had already bandaged the cut above his eye and cleaned the blood from his split lip.
"It’s going to leave a scar," I said quietly.
"Just another one," he replied, his eyes never leaving my face.
The way he stared made me uncomfortable. This man had once been my mate, the father of my children, but I felt like I’d never really known him. When we were married, he’d been cold and distant, always putting his pack above everything else—including me. Now, divorced for three years, he suddenly showed up whenever I needed help, risking his life without thinking twice.
"Why are you here, Calvin?" I finally asked.
"Alex had a dream. She said you were in danger."
I looked up sharply. "Alex told you that?"
He nodded. "She woke up crying, said she saw you surrounded by bad people. Called me ’Daddy’ again."
My heart clenched.
Alexis calling Calvin "Daddy" was something I’d discouraged—not out of spite, but to avoid confusing her. She was too young to understand our complicated relationship.
"She’s always had strong intuition," I said softly, returning to my task. "But how did you find me so quickly?"
"I’ve had people tracking your movements since you left." At my outraged expression, he added, "For your safety, Evelyn. Nothing more."
"My safety is my concern, not yours," I replied stiffly.
"You’re the mother of my children," he said simply, as if that explained everything.
I finished bandaging him, trying to ignore how the simple touch of his skin against mine still sent uncomfortable currents through my body.
Time was supposed to heal all wounds, fade all feelings. Why did my traitorous heart still race when he was near?
I sighed and opened my photo gallery instead, scrolling through pictures of the children. Seeing their faces calmed me, reminded me of what truly mattered.
"They miss you," Calvin said quietly. "Rowan asked when you’d be back."
I smiled despite myself. "He’s always been the worrier."
"Like his mother."
I glanced up to find his eyes still fixed on my face, searching for something I wasn’t sure I wanted him to find.
"We need to report this Rogue activity to the Alpha Council," I said, deliberately changing the subject. "A coordinated Rogues this size is concerning. They’ve been quiet for years, and now suddenly they’re organized enough to claim territory?"
Calvin nodded, allowing the shift in conversation. "I’ve already contacted the Council. They’re sending representatives to investigate."
"You could have run, saved yourself," he suddenly said.
"That’s not who I am."
"I know," he replied, with a gentleness that made my chest ache. "It’s one of many things I’ve always admired about you."
Before I could respond, Jackson appeared at the door. "Evelyn, there’s someone here to see you. Says he has something you might want."
I excused myself, grateful for the interruption, and followed Jackson to the main room where Chunk was waiting, his head now properly bandaged.
"Ms. Blackwell," he said, looking uncomfortable. "I owe you an apology, and more."
"An apology for what?"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small cloth pouch. "For this. It’s what you’ve been looking for."
I opened the pouch cautiously, my breath catching when I saw the distinctive purple-veined stems of the Stellaris Moonbane Root.
