The Dragon Prince's Bride-Chapter 259. Tryst in the sky.
Now it was almost time for Barak to come pick her up at the time they had agreed to meet that evening. Neriah, restlessly awaited his arrival, checking and rechecking her hair and face a million times over.
"Are you certain I look alright?" She asked for the umpteenth time.
"For goodness sake, my dearest princess, how many times must Riri tell you that you look just fine?" Riri with her tiny voice asked, tired of answering the same question like a bird whistling the same tune endlessly. "You tell her Aria, that she looks alright."
"There is no need to tell her, because no matter what we say, she will still ask again." said Aria who was seated on a chair with her legs crossed, munching on an apple.
"Ohh," Neriah fussed, "How about my attire? Does it make me look weird? Maybe I should just wear a dress and ride in a carriage. Standing before this mirror now, I think it makes me look weird." She complained.
Finally picking a day for their overdue unicorn ride, Barak had suggested they rode in a carriage as she would be more comfortable that way. Neriah on the other hand insisted that they rode on the unicorn directly, saying she would wear her usual riding attire; pants and a blouse rather than a dress so she could sit straddling the unicorn.
Having no way to talk her out of it, Barak had agreed and within a space of hours, she had been provided with new pants and a blouse that was perfect for her protruding stomach.
However, her problem now was that she wasn’t certain she looked presentable in her attire.
"Do you not think it is too loose around my stomach?" She asked.
"Any tighter and you and your child might suffocate." Aria muttered to herself.
"Princess, Riri has told you, you look just fine. As pretty as always." As the tiny fairy spoke, the door to the room opened and in came her long awaited husband.
"Your Highness," Aria greeted, rising to her feet as he made his way into the room. He acknowledged her with a nod before returning his gaze to his wife.
She stood there in front of a mirror, red hair tied up in a high ponytail, her stomach in front of her made it seem as though she was being pulled forward by something.
She looked quite adorable in her riding attire, from head to boots.
"Do I—"
"You look lovely." He interrupted before she could ask anything and Neriah receiving the answer she wanted from the person she wanted it from finally smiled without a single doubt in her heart that she looked ok. Barak said so.
"Shall we?" he stretched out his elbow and she majestically walked up to him and slipped her arm around his.
"We shall." She nodded and they stepped out of the room together.
"Urgh thank the goddess. Now Riri can go and play with Barni." Riri gleefully said, flying out the window with haste. Aria on the other hand, took what was left of the fruit on the table and stepped out if the room with them.

"Wow!" Neriah exclaimed with much excitement as they rode on the winged unicorn. "Wow! Trago really looks beautiful from up here." She muttered to herself, reminiscing on the first time she had entered Trago.
"You know, back then I was dying to stick my head out of the window, if you didn’t tell me to do it I would have regretted not doing so." She confessed and Barak who sat behind her chuckled.
"I could tell," he shrugged.
"What? Really? How?"
"Well, as pretentious as you could be back then, you sure could not hide your curiosity. From the moment you first saw the unicorns, to the moment we entered the carriages, I could tell how fascinated you were."
"Was I that easy to read?" She asked with unbelief.
"So easy."
"Well, could you also tell from my face that at that moment I was also finding it hard to digest that Trago was not the wasteland I thought it would be. I was instantly captivated by the structure, the dressings, the people... But of course I could not tell you, or that would mean you would have won."
"And now?" He rested his head on her shoulder, seeking her eyes as he asked,"You do not mind me winning?"
Slightly, she turned her head to meet his gaze and the corner of her lips rose to a smile. "I do not mind losing to you," Her response was one that made his stomach turn in the sweetest kind of ways.
"Oh, you little witch." He purred and moved to take her lips but then the unicorn swayed and they held on firmer, breaking the mood instantly.
"I guess he does not want was doing naughty things on his back." Neriah chuckled and Barak joined her laugh as he sat up straight once again.
"Alright then, let’s save the sweetest things for our bedchamber—" Barak jested and Neriah giggled delightfully at his words.
She looked at her stomach and rubbing it she said,"Child do not listen to him, your father is such a perverse man."
Barak simply chuckled at her words as the unicorn carried them further.
High above ground, away from where eyes could reach, they flew round the capital, with Neriah pointing out every single detail that she could only notice far up in the sky.
It was just like their little tryst in Fortia, only this time they were not on foot.
And at the end of the day, when they retreated to their chamber, they were both too exhausted to even have dinner, let alone continue the sweet things Barak said they would.
In each others arms they had surrendered to sleep and it was peaceful and filled with good dreams... That was until Neriah woke up hungry in thee middle of the night, remembering she had fallen asleep on an empty stomach.
After a half-awake Barak successfully stuffed her with food, they had returned to their peaceful sleep and sweet dreams.
