The dragon's harem-Chapter 1223: A Room of Scrolls
"What do they say? Where there is a cockroach, there are a hundred more." Arad looked around and took a deep breath. "Let's search through the scrolls; we don't have much time to read all this."
Arad spent almost two hours sifting through the countless scrolls. He made sure to return them all to where they were before and found several intriguing things.
Gale had planned to kill and take Zeus's throne for literally centuries. He made many plans, but most failed to bear fruit. Zeus was just too strong, too smart, and too dominating to beat.
Gale knew that he could never beat his father in a straightforward challenge. Zeus had lived far too long and saw everything; he would guess whatever Gale planned and counter him in seconds.
What's more, Gale was weak, far weaker than his father. Even his daughter Tyal outclassed him in power. All that he had was his unique ability to control the wind.
Gale was the wind, and his father was the lightning, both integral parts of the storm.
Arad found several records of payments to several strange organizations. He never visited the Titan kingdom, but he could at least guess when the information on some scrolls didn't match the others.
Arad also asked Tyal about what he was reading. His incarnations are one and the same. While he was reading the scrolls in the office, his incarnation on the bed with Tyal was asking her about what he saw.
Tyal concluded several things. The first is that her father was paying groups to silence those who suspected that Zeus was still alive. People knew how powerful Zeus was, so his defeat looked strange to many people.
Arad was certain that if Zeus showed up again, no one would be surprised. But that would lead the people to request the law to be upheld. Gale, his wives, and children would be executed to cleanse the treacherous bloodline.
While most of the Titans' laws were lenient, they were extremely harsh when it came to their royals and nobles. Arad could save Tyal by claiming her and daring the Titans to come and kill her. But what about her mother? Stepmothers, sisters, and brothers?
Arad had to think of another way to solve the problem than a direct confrontation.
At first, Arad hoped that he could find a fault with Gale and end him directly, then put Tyal on the throne. Zeus himself didn't look to be against such a result, but that would be as a last resort.
What Arad wants now that he has the power to challenge the whole world is a perfect ending. He wants everyone to live, Gale included. This wasn't just something that he wanted to do. To be honest with himself, he almost has no attachments to Tyal now; he only knew her for a few days. What he cared about was Zeus, and since Zeus cared about Tyal, Arad cared about her as well.
Arad sees this situation as a challenge to his power and intellect. He wants to know his limits. How much of his will can he impose on the world?
Zephyr sighed as she read through the scrolls. Zeus reminded her of herself quite a lot, a fool who tried to use all of his power for the betterment of his people. The world loves those kinds of people, and it will use and burn them.
"You either die a selfless hero, or live long enough to kill those you swore to protect, those who abused and used your kindness against you."
Hearing her, Arad smiled, "You lived long enough and didn't kill anyone."
Zephyr closed the scroll she was reading and looked at him. "Who knows? I still didn't live long enough, it seems. My will is a bit too hard to break. You'd think that a thousand years of starvation would do the trick, but it didn't."
"Last thing I want to see is you as a villain." Arad smiled, "But that's what I'm trying to do here. Break that circle. I don't want to be used by the world." He clenched a fist, "I don't want my kingdom, future kingdom, to rely on my power to survive, I don't want them coming to my door at every possible problem. That's why I sent the vampire paladins to hunt the cultists and didn't go myself, that's why I want to train the soldiers in the castle, that's why I want my wives to be able to defend themselves."
He threw the scrolls back into place and sighed. He had read everything and didn't find any possible way to save everyone. Zeus was dead, and Gale would have to die if he returned. To change that, the Titans might change their law that has existed for thousands of years.
Back in his room, Tyal looked at Arad with a worried face. "Can I say something?"
He looked at her with a smile. "What is it?"
"Didn't... you get something that can help?"
Tyal was talking about the portfolio he got from Kayden, the one that can turn someone into a demigod and potentially a god later on. He can give that to Zeus and bring him back as a demigod. That shouldn't put any strain on Gale's position; it would only make it stronger as he would've managed to win against a future demigod.
But, Arad didn't want to just throw the portfolio around. That thing is just too powerful, too valuable to spend on a whim. Not even the Overgod is making demigods just like that.
Arad knows that Zeus is a master of lightning magic, and that Gale focuses more on wind magic... But what about Tyal? He had never asked.
"I'm thinking about. In the meantime. What can you do? In terms of fighting."
Tyal looked at him for a long moment, "Tyal is how people call me. My name is Typhoeus, also known as Titan Typhon." She put one leg on another, and her hair started moving on its own, turning into long pale gray snakes. The wind in the room swirled and twisted.
A hundred snakes were staring at Arad with hunger in their eyes, and Tyal giggled, "I have a lot of powers, but I'm mainly a master of typhoons. That's how I got my second name."
Arad smiled and looked at her face. "Snakes? I got some of those, too." His eyes flashed green, and his hair grew longer, turning into slithering green vipers.
"Doma is the daughter of a Medusa. Aren't you two somewhat related?" freewebnoveℓ.com
Tyal giggled, "Of course not. There are many people who look alike. Those snakes on my head. They don't curse anything into stone. But they breathe fire and poison."
Arad thought about it for a few seconds and then smiled, "How about you beat both your father and grandfather for me?"
She giggled, slithered over his chest, and smiled, "I'm listening." Of course, it didn't take Claug a second to push her away and take her place.
