The dragon's harem-Chapter 1415: Troll Attack
Chapter 1415: Troll Attack
As the carriage rolled down the ancient stone path, barely not sliding downward thanks to Arad’s driving, gravity magic, and Mc’s sheer might and hooves that were designed for snow and mountains.
The snowstorm was growing stronger and stronger by the second, and Arad even considered just swallowing the carriage into his stomach and walking on his own.
Sadly, he couldn’t just do that.
Recently, the Dark Elves were dealing with mountain trolls a lot. And no offence, with his size, they might mistake him for one and shoot from a mile away.
He looked at the sky, wanting to blast the clouds away with his wings, but Zephyr had warned him about messing with the weather too much. He could destroy many ecosystems. The worst that could happen is monsters migrating down the mountains and hitting the city.
Several minutes later, Arad finally saw something besides snow and rocks.
A few tens of meters ahead on the side of the road, someone was walking down the mountain, pushing through the violent storm on their own two feet. First, Arad could immediately tell that it wasn’t a dragon. He had to check since dragons are the most common crazy ones to do such a thing.
What worried Arad more was that he could swear the one walking down was a Dark Elf.
Just as Arad looked at them, they turned and looked back at the carriage, just as surprised as Arad was to see them. What lavender eyes, burning with golden magic. She was a woman, a Dark Elf who seemed to be just barely able to brave the storm.
Arad stopped beside her. "What are you doing here? Going down the mountain in such weather?"
"I’ll ask the same question. A carriage with this powerful wind, you’re just asking to get thrown over the edge and into the monster-infested ravine. Find a large ledge, one should be a bit behind us, and stop there until the storm fades." She looked closer at Arad, and then her eyes opened wide, "And you’re damn huge! Are you half-giant or something?"
Arad looked at her and smiled, "Back at you. You’d better find a place to camp soon. You’re barely walking upright in the storm, you’ll get blown away like a leaf."
She sighed, "Fancy carriage you’ve got there. Unlike whatever important matters you think you’ve got, mine is like or death."
Arad sniffed the air, "I see. That’s a kid you’re hiding beneath your coat? And they are sick."
She took a step back, both scared and worried. How was he able to tell? She was certain she had hidden the kid well. "My little boy. He won’t last long unless I get him to a healer or someone who knows what to do soon." She looked at the ledge.
"I either get him to a healer, or die trying." She patted the tiny one beneath her coat, "Lost his father, won’t lose him as well. We die together, or live together." She then turned around and kept walking.
"Farewell, giant. Sadly, I must hurry. A storm didn’t slow me down, and your company won’t either." Arad watched her walk away for a second and then called.
"Get in the carriage. It won’t make sense if you freeze to death." He drove the carriage closer. "And besides. You might endure, but the kid won’t."
She looked back at him. A carriage is better than walking. She was also out of options. The only reason she decided to go down the mountain on foot was that she didn’t have anything better to do.
"Why help me?" She asked.
Arad sighed, "The question is, why wouldn’t I help? Got no reason to leave you behind." He looked up, "Besides, you’ll die if you don’t move."
She sensed it later than Arad did. Her eyes flashed with golden light, and she looked up, "Cursed Trolls!"
A massive, white and furry, five-meter-tall troll that looked like a deformed yeti with four arms and two heads landed several dozen meters ahead of the carriage, and behind it, a swarm of over twenty trolls that each were three meters tall landed.
They were hiding up in the mountain and jumped down to attack the carriage and the woman when they got together. They seemed smarter than they looked, understanding that if they attacked one separately, the other might hear the noise and hide or run away.
The woman pulled her sword and got into a stance, protecting what was beneath her coat with her free arm. Trolls are known for aggression. What will come next is all of those monsters attacking at once in a mad frenzy. She must find a way to run away.
But it was then that she noticed something. The trolls still didn’t attack. In fact, the small ones look hesitant, and some are even taking a few steps back.
It took her a second, and a lot of courage, but she managed to slowly turn her head back and look to see what was behind her. Arad, sitting in the driver’s carriage, was staring at the trolls with a smile, his purple eyes burning with malice and hunger.
Arad jumped from the carriage and took a few steps forward, patting Mc on his way. "I’ll get this done quickly."
Arad then reached the woman and patted her on the shoulder, "Your knees are already shaking. Hide inside, or sit and watch. Just don’t drop the kid."
He then looked at the trolls, "Would you just leave?"
The trolls remained silent for a long time, but then their largest and biggest roared in rage. He was the chieftain, the king of this mountain. No one would tell him what to do; he’ll crush all of the worms, he’ll freeze and eat them.
Arad was small, and he was big.
Arad has only two arms, and he has four.
Arad has one head, and he has two. He is smarter, stronger, bigger, and better.
The troll charged forward in rage, two of his arms down. In his palms, a frozen sword the size of a building emerged out of nowhere and fell toward Arad’s head. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
The troll had three main powers.
A godly regeneration that helped him survive most injuries and heal in minutes.
A powerful innate ice magic that he developed through the years by mimicking the humans he attacked. He saw them fight with swords, so he made a bigger, better sword with his ice magic.
And lastly, the troll’s regeneration resulted in rapid mutation, which allowed him to develop many resistances and increased his body’s durability and stamina regeneration.
The more fights a troll survives, the harsher the environment they live in, the more pain they suffer, the stronger they’ll become. The law of evolution and natural selection worked in their favor.
The troll’s attack was fast. The woman wouldn’t have been able to dodge it, but she could see it coming, like the inevitable cold embrace of death.
Arad lifted his arm and swung it down. With gravity magic, he forced the troll to kneel and stopped its charge before it could hit him. The troll was five meters tall, and Arad was just three meters tall.
If the troll thought of itself as a king, then Arad was a short king. He needed him to kneel, to reach his two heads.
As the troll’s knees hit the ground and his sword shattered on the ground, Arad’s fist flew at his two heads with a left hook, ripping both of them off and sending them flying into the ravine below.
