Chapter 125: Early Morning Alcohol

Jiaoying woke up naturally when dawn peeked through her curtains.

Before she even opened her eyes, she noticed that her bed was missing a certain occupant. The warmth that she had started to become accustomed to was not present.

She sat up slowly, rubbing the grit out of her eyes before glancing at the sleeping body in her bed.

Yari did everything gracefully with little effort. Even sleeping.

Her uncovered form lay perfectly still as her chest rose and fell softly. In comparison, Jiaoying felt as though she slept like a wild animal.

Moving ever so cautiously, she planted a kiss on the Yari’s head and on the top of her back.

Basking in the moment for a bit, she then quietly began to slip out of bed to wash up.

"I thought you were going to do more than that."

Jiaoying froze in her tracks.

"Good morning to you too... I thought you were asleep."

Yari rolled over and sat up. "I’ve been up for a while... Couldn’t really sleep when I noticed Bear was missing."

Jiaoying pulled back her curtain just a tad and glanced outside.

"It’s about dawn now... maybe he couldn’t shake his routine and went out with the others." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Jiaoying was going to wake Nila to begin instructing her, as she’d promised. But if Solomon was already out there, then maybe her help wasn’t needed.

Those were her thoughts until she saw Yari begin to get out of bed as well.

"What are you doing? Go back to sleep, I know you’re still tired."

Yari shook her head. "I would feel a bit parasitic if I just lay around in bed after all that you have done for me."

"You’re being silly. You’ve been through a great ordeal. You can lie in bed for as long as you like as far as I’m concerned. I can even have your meals brought up."

Yari was so tempted to take her up on her offer that she almost sank back into bed.

But she didn’t want to be the only one still asleep while her lovers were already up and moving around.

"It’s fine, dear. I’d rather be with the three of you." Yari said with a simple smile. "Don’t forget, you and Bear are still supposed to teach me how to use a sword."

Jiaoying raked her gaze over Yari’s uncovered form without bothering to hide the fact that she was looking. The woman was stunning.

"Alright then... I think this’ll make for a nice first morning together."

Feeling a warm buzz in their chests, both women waltzed into the washroom, hand in hand.

-

"Just a fair warning..." Jiaoying said as she and Yari were walking down the stairs to go find Nila.

"I have to leave today to go and inform the emperor of my return. I should be back just a little bit before nightfall."

Yari would have been lying if she said that it didn’t disappoint her at least a little bit. She had only just gotten here, and the last thing she wanted was for Jiaoying to leave while she was still getting adjusted.

Something she must have recognized.

"Don’t worry." Jiaoying slipped her fingers between Yari’s. "While I’m gone, the staff will help you with anything you need; all you have to do is ask. Ryth has been with me since I was a little girl. He’ll take you anywhere you need to go, purchase anything you like.."

"All of this for some woman you’ve only started seeing recently?" Yari shook her head with a bitter smile.

Jiaoying shrugged. "What can I say? This is my first relationship since my divorce. I have to make myself look good so the two of you don’t realize you could have done better."

Yari rolled her eyes, her smile growing just a hair wider. "I won’t need anything today, I’m afraid. If you recall, I’m going to be helping Raizel now that I’ve finally had a moment to catch my breath and-"

Her words trailed off as a very familiar smell wafted into her nose. Yari nearly levitated off her feet with delight.

"Is that... coffee...?"

"I suppose..?" Jiaoying tilted her head. "Would you like so-"

Yari actually did levitate off her feet and followed the source of the smell like a beautiful bloodhound.

Chuckling, Jiaoying hurried to follow behind her, admiring her butt as she flew.

’What a woman..’

Both arrived at the dining room at the same time. However, they did not enter.

Standing outside the doorway, watching the inside carefully, was Ryth. He stood with his hands behind his back, seemingly paying attention to something of great importance.

Jiaoying and Yari snuck up on him quietly.

"Ryth..? What’s the matter?"

The blue-skinned titan blood turned around and bowed. "Ah. Good morning, my lady, and... My lady." Ryth bowed to Yari.

The elf’s cheeks became flushed with embarrassment.

"It seems your guests are... taking some time for themselves. They appear to be in quite the discombobulated state. I haven’t heard them speak since they requested coffee and bourbon."

Jiaoying blinked abruptly.

Solomon wasn’t a very big drinker to begin with. She found it incredibly difficult to believe that he would be drinking bourbon before it was even seven a.m.

She and Yari poked their heads inside the dining hall.

Solomon, Nila, Dakota, and even Everett were all sitting in a row at the table, awake but hardly energetic.

All of them had cups of coffee sitting in front of them, and were passing around a bottle of bourbon that was nearly empty.

At the center of the table, at an equal distance from each of them, was a book. Not one of them had taken their eyes off it, even after three full minutes.

Jiaoying finally couldn’t suspend her curiosity anymore and stepped inside, with Yari right on her trail.

None of them responded to their entrance. The girls were able to slip right beside Solomon before he even noticed them.

"Hey... What’s with the funny little atmosphere?" Jiaoying asked as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

Solomon smiled at her warmly for a second. "Ah, morning. This is..."

"The end result of the mother of all mind-fucks..." Everett replied drunkenly.

"I... do not even feel drunk. Nothing is working." Nila murmured.

Dakota said nothing; she just continued to hold a sleeping Bansha in her arms.

Yari and Jiaoying blinked at each other slowly, not understanding the reason for all of the mellow drama. They naturally found themselves glancing towards the book in the middle of the table.

"Is this about that old book?" Yari raised her brow. "Honestly, where did you young ones even get such a-"

"Siblings." Nila said.

"...What?"

"We’re all... siblings." Solomon finished.

Dakota picked up the bottle of bourbon sitting between them and passed it to Yari.

"H-Here you go... You guys might need this."
