The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 73: Action 3
Back at 1–Alpha’s camp, Anastasia sat on top of the castle, with her legs dangling below. But the bizarre thing was that an unconscious guy was also dangling down the side of the castle, albeit held by a rope, with one end tied to his body, and the other, tied to a hole on the top of the castle.
~A few minutes earlier~
Anastasia was just minding her own business, when a regular bird flew over the castle top, before slowly landing on the flag. From any angle, it looked like any regular pigeon you could find everywhere.
But Anastasia vanished from her spot in an instant, and firmly caught hold of bird.
"A pigeon?" she muttered. "Nice transformation, but looks like you forgot something." she smiled. "Regular pigeons don’t radiate an Eta ranked aura."
The pigeon flapped it’s wings in a bid to escape from her grasp, but it’s attempt were futile. If anything, it only made her grip on its body tighter.
Then the pigeon made a decision, if it couldn’t escape as a bird, it’ll do so as a human.
It’s body shifted, and began hulking, so much that Anastasia had to let go. Before it’s body could touch the ground, it had transformed into an average looking guy, and landed on his feet.
He immediately turned, and tried to make a run for it, but Anastasia appeared before him with speed akin to teleportation.
With a spin, she twisted into a roundhouse kick, that connected brutally with the side of his head, sending a few teeth flying, and knocking him unconscious.
But he wasn’t teleported out since he wasn’t in any fatal danger. It was then that a thought occured to the redhead. What if she used him as a deterrent against the others?
And that was how the current situation arrived. The guy hanging by the castle, while she sat at the edge, dangling her legs.
Just then, she suddenly sensed something.
"Come out." She turned behind. "I know you’re there."
And there, from the shadow casted by the flag, a dark haired youth rose up, as if emerging from water.
"I’m Aric Tinubu, from House Tinubu." said the grinning youth. "I’m the institue’s rank 7. What a pity you sensed me, a few more minutes more, and I’d have been able to whisk this flag away with none the wiser."
Meanwhile, Anastasia was stuck on something else.
She frowned.
"What sort of name is Tinubu? I’ve never heard of it before."
"What? really?" The guy stared at the redhead in disbelief. "It’s a tier two House in the Vorde continent. It was founded by Jagaban, our legendary ancest.... you know what, why am I even telling you?" He said, a rapier materializing in his stretched hand.
"1–Delta must win this mock exam." He added as shadows began materializing around him.
Whoosh!
With no warning whatsoever, two tendrils of shadows shot at Anastasia.
She easily evaded both, but shadows had no form, and Aric could change their shape at will. The tendrils snapped back at her, following after her. Her body blurred between the attacks, as she evaded each tendril with minimal movement.
Seeing no progress with that, Aric bent his legs, the ground beneath his boots cracking in a spider web pattern, as he himself lunged at her, his rapier cleaving through the space, in a diagonal arc, aiming for Anastasia.
But she was unfazed. She calmly watched as the Aric’s attack slowly approached her in slow motion. And then before the rapier could reach her, she deftly sidestepped with a burst of agility.
But as if reading her mind, before finishing the swing, Aric seamlessly transitioned it into a horizontal slash.
Reacting swiftly, with another burst of speed, Anastasia’s body darted two meters back, effectively evading the attack.
But Aric didn’t relent, he pressed on, closing the distance almost instantly. Aric unleashed a flurry of attacks with immense speeds, his movements fast and calculated, coupled with his shadow tendrils also taking a shot at her.
Anastasia’s movements were so rapid as she dodged each and every of his attacks, still with minimal movements, that Aric struggled to believe he was just a minor rank below her.
In reality though, it wasn’t that Anastasia was moving that fast. It was just Aric and his shadows that were moving slow. From an outsider’s perspective, while both would still look like blurs to those of lower ranks, those at the same ranks or higher, would be able to perceive, and see how slow Aric really was when fighting Anastasia.
Regardless of the intensity of the attacks, she could see/perceive them in an almost slow motion drag. Her body blurred, as she evaded every of his attacks with a graceful, almost ethereal movements.
’I should end this farce.’ Anastasia thought as she tilted her head, making a shadow tendril shoot past the space her head had been a moment earlier.
Her leg shattered the ground with a clockwise spin, while her other leg snapped up at his chest, attacking for the first time since the fight started.
Aric reacted swiftly, interlocking his arms in a defensive X stance before his chest, effectively blocking the brutal attack. But despite the effective block, the sheer force of the attack sent him skidding several meters backwards.
Anastasia didn’t wait for him to recover, her body blurred, she was before him in an instant.
The air itself seemed to part in acknowledgment of her velocity, leaving a shimmering streak behind her as she closed in on Aric.
In one seamless motion, she drew her hand back, fingers clenched in a fist, and then with unbridled power, delivered a devastating blow upon Aric’s gut.
The impact resonated throughout the area, as the force of the punch went through Aric’s form like ripples in a pond.
Aric seemed to hang in the air momentarily suspended, before his body shot back through the air, and towards the forest at extreme speeds.
Anastasia watched as Aric’s body vanished into the forest, breaking a few trees in his way. She didn’t follow after him. Somehow, she was sure he wouldn’t come back. She felt tempted to go finish the battle, but alas, she didn’t want to leave the flag.
The others would probably chew her ears off if someone managed to swap it away while she was gone.
"Hehe." She couldn’t help but chuckle as she thought of Damon’s expression upon that happening.
Meanwhile, with Aric, Anastasia’s was right, he wasn’t planning to go back.
He dug himself out from the trunk of the tree he got embedded in. There was a huge bruise on the spot where Anastasia’s fist had struck him, and the fabric of the cloth there was completely annihilated.
Ukkh!
He coughed out a mouthful of blood, but his lips were curled into a smile.
"The rank 1 really deserves her position." he muttered, shaking his head.
But then he frowned.
He didn’t manage to get the flag here, and he was sure the group he had sneaked past to get here would be able to get his class’s flag.
Aric wasn’t a fool. He knew that with the composition of the top ranking students in 1–Alpha, the two other classes didn’t stand a chance, which was why he had came up with a plan.
If he couldn’t win, then he wouldn’t let them win either. In this case, his thought process was quite similar to Damon’s. They both believed that instead of one winning, it was better for everyone to lose.
Aric sighed. But now that he failed here, and couldn’t get this flag, then at the very least, he would delay 1–Alpha from winning too early. After all, he had already planned for that. The ones sieging his class’s camp wouldn’t have it easy.
With a thought, his body submerged into the tree’s shadow.
-----------------
Meanwhile, west of where this battle had just taken place, a group were moving through the forest. A golden haired guy with eyes of the same colour, and a dark haired guy with emerald eyes were the ones leading the group.
They were none other than Alistair Von Drake, the Omega ranked physique prodigy, and Fabian Ashton, a prince of the Ashton empire.
Following behind them were other elites, like Calum Forge, Sarah, and Elsa. After which were the dregs.
"Isn’t it a little too silent?" Elsa commented, drawing everyone’s attention.
Fabian frowned.
"You are right." He had been expecting them to have gotten ambushed by now, but everywhere was eerily silent.
At the front, Alistair also frowned. They had long passed the place where Fabian had been ambushed earlier, but there was no trace of a single soul.
"Don’t worry we’ll protect each other." he turned to smile at her.
The group continued moving, until the forest around them began thinning. They finally caught glimpse of a castle. But it was nothing like theirs. In place of what was supposed to be a dull castle, was a fortified fortress glazed in rough diamonds.
"What the hell is this?!" Calum cursed.
