The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 92: First trial 6
Sprut!
The man’s expression twisted as he coughed up a mouthful of blood. It seemed the shockwave had wrecked his insides. While he was disoriented, I waited no longer. The ground beneath my feet cracked in a spider web pattern as my body shot up through the air, and shot a little higher than him.
But alas, a solid Theta- ranked aetherial was still a Theta- ranked aetherial, and he was no trash like the team we met earlier. My sword that was angling for his neck, met the cold resistance of his blade.
Clang!
He blocked my overhead slash in a desperate guard. And since he was actually flying, we weren’t sent crashing towards the ground.
"I’ll kill you!" he spat.
In one swift motion, I flipped mid air, and landed on his sword. With nothing to guard him again, he was left side open. His eyes widened at that realization, but with a push off his sword, my sword sealed the deal in one final slash, that flashed through his neck.
Brrrrtz!
Blood burst out in spurts like a fountain that hadn’t been opened in a long time, as gravity took control once more, and we went crashing rapidly towards the ground.
Bang!
We crashed through the roof of some building, and hit the ground in a graceless bang, but I used the headless corpse as a cushion, before rolling away to soften the impact.
The severed head fell through the hole we made on the roof, and landed half a second later, with a dull thud.
"Damn! I should have switched with my reflection before hitting the ground." I muttered as I rubbed my throbbing shoulder. But what’s done is done.
The entire fight with this man from begining to end, had taken no longer than two minutes. The stronger the combatants, the faster the outcome of a fight is determined. Unless of course both combatants are evenly matched to the t, or one of them wasn’t going all out.
I sighed as I looked away from the headless corpse. It didn’t take me long to locate the exit of the structure, after which I promptly excused myself from it’s confines. The moment I was out, I turned in the direction where Sia and that woman were fighting.
During my own fight, I had been feeling the aftermath of their clashes, but didn’t have the luxury to observe. But just from the sound alone, I could tell the fight had gotten way more intense than it was at the beginning.
Now though, what I saw when I looked in the direction, were countless amounts of craters and buildings that had been swept off their foundations and turned into rubble. There was now a large area that was razed to the ground.
And there in the far distance, stood Sia, with her sword to the woman’s neck. And their conditions didn’t look the least but good.
’So she won huh?’ I instinctively heaved a sigh of relief. "But why’s the woman still alive?" I muttered in contemplation.
Not coming to an answer, I took glance at Dpress and his friends who were struggling a little bit in the distance, then pondered whether to go to Sia, or go help them. Helping them finish this quickly seemed to be the wisest decision, but...
’Nah, they’ll be able to finish it soon enough... probably.’ In the end, I turned towards Sia and the woman, and began walking towards them. I was curious about the reason why the woman was still standing.
It was only when we got close enough, that I realized how truly unsightly they looked. They were both badly injured to say the least.
"You look like shit." Was the first thing that came out of my mouth as I stared at the dark haired woman. I wasn’t lying, there were cuts all over her, with most still oozing blood. There was also blood treading the sides of her lips, and her hair seemed to have been unevenly cut.
"I know right? She smiled widely, exposing her blood stained teeth. "She was stronger than I expected."
"Why is she still alive though?" I gestured at the woman that was looking at me with a cold expression.
"Oh, I decided not to kill her." She said as if that was the most normal thing in the world.
"Why?" I asked. I mean, this woman was trying to kill us not too long ago, so I would be more at ease if she was dead.
Sia meanwhile, smiled.
"She helped me with something I’ve been struggling with for a while, so I decided to spared her."
"I see." I nodded.
"Why? You want her dead?" Sia tilted her head. "I didn’t know you were so heartless." she pouted.
My body recoiled at that.
"Well if I hadn’t left someone I should have killed alive, my life would have been stress free by now." I rolled my eyes.
"Wow, I’m flattered." She beamed.
"Sigh." I shook my head. I knew she was crazy, but when in her Ms present persona, it was on another level.
"Would you both quit discussing my life and death like I’m not here?" The woman spoke.
"So how long do you think before they win?" I changed the topic, gesturing at Dpress and the other two. Honestly if they had coordinated, they would have won by now.
Dpress’ ability was great for group combat, even though I had come to notice it only worked with eye contact. One look, and the opponents would freeze, giving either Nina or Greg the chance to deal a fatal blow.
Unfortunately, they were fighting one on one, with Nina being the closest to victory. Greg was also doing quite well with a few injuries here and there. Dpress’ on the other hand, had one of his hands hanging limply by his side, but the woman he was fighting fared no better either.
"Who cares?" she shrugged, making a line of blood flow from a cut in her shoulders that had already began to scab.
"Aren’t you gonna fix that?" I gestured at her injured figure. "Take a healing potion or something?" I knew for a fact that she definitely had healing potions.
"With what hands, genius?" She rolled her eyes.
I almost facepalmed at the obvious. One of her hands was holding the sword to the woman’s jugular, while the other was softly clasped around her throat.
I couldn’t do anything to help, so I brought out an aether replenishing potion and chugged it down. My reserves had dropped to below twenty percent. I had been channeling earlier, and just now during this battle, I had made around five reflections with varying strengths.
But then, I noticed Sia looking at me dazedly from my pheripherals.
"What?" I turned to ask.
"Are you that tone- deaf?"
"Hmmm? what do you mean?" I asked, even more confused. And the look the other woman was also giving me made me look like I was the stupid one.
"You were supposed offer to help me with the healing potion."
"Huh? You never said that, and even if you did, why the hell would I do that?" I frowned. My healing potions were costly you know.
The healing potions I currently had on me weren’t the riff raff ones I had before. Each one was high grade, and costed over a thousand gold knotts. I see no reason why I should give them to her.
"I didn’t meant your own healing potions, I could bring out mine from my storage space, and you could help me drink it." She said, looking at me weirdly.
"Well then, you should have said that in the first place." I pointed out.
"It called reading the room, idiot." she retorted.
"Fine, bring it out." I sighed as I stood beside her. A small tube containing a shimmering blue liquid appeared mid air, which I promptly caught.
I uncorked the tube and brought it to her mouth. "Drink." I said. The moment she opened her mouth, I chugged the entire contents of the bottle inside.
"For someone feeding a lady, you’re quite brutish you know." she said after gulping the thing down.
I almost scoffed.
"Act like a proper lady first, and I’ll treat you like a lady."
She snorted softly as the wounds on her body rapidly began to knit back together. It seemed her healing potions were even better than mine. It’s not like I was surprised though, it was probably given to her by her family.
Soon enough, she looked as good as new. Even the uneven haircut she had, had grown back to the same length.
"Wow, feels refreshing." She hummed. But then she did something stupid .
She withdrew the sword from her woman’s neck, and also released the woman’s neck from her grasp.
"Are you crazy?!" I yelled mouth open.
"What?" She looked at me. "Now that I’m healed, nothing she does will matter anymore, right?" She turned to look at the woman who was probably just as surprised as I was.
