The Elven Evolution: Starting With 1 Million SSSR Skills-Chapter 114: [] Aftermath
Eliron woke up feeling like he had been squashed underneath a rock. His entire body stung, and his muscles were aching all over.
But strangely, even with the pain, Eliron felt like a brand new person.
His muscles felt lighter than usual, and mana was circulating around his body, strengthening him from the inside out.
"What happened?" He muttered as he grudgingly opened his eyes, taking in the space.
He was back in his house, he could easily tell that from the architecture, but the room he was in was not his.
From the way the furniture was arranged, the tons of fluffy pillows on the bed and the size of the room, he realized it at once...
This was Yennefer’s room.
He turned to the left when he noticed someone else’s presence, his eyes landing on a figure sitting on a chair beside the bed.
The person was none other than Yennefer.
She was lazily resting her head on the edge, muttering something underneath her voice as she stared at the ceiling.
"Let the light erode all that dwells within, let the sacred... no, no... that is wrong." She scratched her head and sighed.
"Let the heavens part?" She tilted her head slightly. "Nope, wrong again—"
Eliron gave her a blank stare. "What are you doing?"
Yennefer jolted, nearly falling off her chair.
"God, you almost gave me a heart attack!" She yelled, placing her hand above her chest to calm her racing heart.
"..."
Eliron raised a brow.
She let out a breath then glared at him. "So you are finally awake, you oaf! Do you know how worried I was? Why can you just be normal and do things the right way?"
"I swear... the next time you do something like that I’ll push you off the mountain myself!"
"Mountain?"
Eliron gave it a little thought, only then did everything that had happened during the day come back to his remembrance.
It was that he remembered their grueling march from Artaris to heart snatcher mountain. The trek to the mountain alone had already pushed him past his limits, and yet...
Eliron sighed when he remembered climbing it.
What he had done was extremely dangerous. Not just because of how steep the mountain was, but because he was not particularly lucid at that point.
If he was fully awake then he would easily teleport if he was at risk of falling to his death, but in that state? It would have been a death sentence.
Yennefer must have known how dangerous it was and followed him all through the climb.
He remembered seeing a pair of worried golden eyes just before his memory went dark...
"How can you even think of climbing a mountain after carrying and dragging weights along with you for five hours without break?"
"Not only that, you didn’t even loosen the weights before you began your climb!"
Yennefer’s face contorted in rage. She was like an angry mother scolding her stubborn child.
Eliron frowned lightly.
There was no two ways about it... he was clearly in the wrong.
If he had carried the same amount of weights Ash took, then he could have gone up the mountain and down, without ever once getting so weak that he slipped into a trance.
But he ended up taking about three times his weight...
He sighed then stared at Yen who was still fuming, a small smile on his face.
"Thank you... thank you for helping me out."
Yen paused.
One second passed...
She was still glaring daggers his way.
Two seconds passed...
Her face softened a little.
Three seconds...
The frown slowly shifted to a smug smile.
"Huhu...Of course, of course, what would you do without me? Hehehe..."
’She’s just too easy...’ Eliron mused.
Yennefer got down from her chair and stretched, her back making popping sounds.
"By the way." Eliron asked. "Did you heal me or any of the cadets?"
He never expected to pass out, if he did then he would have instructed her against it.
Although healing would soothe their pain, it would all but nullify the effects of their exercise.
Muscles grew by continuous tearing and healing, it was better to allow the process happen naturally.
If a healer worked on the individual, then the muscle fiver will return back to their regular form just before the workout began.
It would mean today was wasted for the cadets, but he could not fault her for it since he did not tell her.
"Of course I didn’t heal you... isn’t that bad for the workout?"
Eliron blinked, surprise clearly written on his features.
Yen’s eyes widened, her face turning red from rage and embarrassment.
"Hey! Why do you look shocked?!"
Eliron. "Oh, nothing..."
Yen sighed. "Get a shower, dinner just about ready..."
He nodded, "Sure."
He stood up, about to leave her room when he stiffened like a pole.
"Dinner?? You cooked?!"
"Get out!"
•••
The shower unleashed a downpour of steamy hot water upon Eliron, the water gliding over his aching muscles and sensitive skin.
Soon the entire bathroom was covered in steam, Eliron enjoying the heat of the water.
While he was underneath his shower, washing off the excess sweat, dirt and grim, his mind returned to what had happened on the top of the mountain.
He closed his eyes and remembered it...
The feeling of his mana rushing through his pathways, the perfect state of body-mind dissonance... the turbulence of the flow as he unleashed his slash.
A small smirk appeared on his lips.
"To think I will gain such an ability so soon..."
If he was in some cliche magic academy, then this would be the arc where he is declared a generational genius.
’If only the cadets could improve this fast...’
Although Eliron wanted nothing but to see the fifty of them grow into knights in the blink of an eye, he knew it was not possible.
Everything in life required a process, and right now, they are in the thick of theirs.
Still...
’We have to be fast.’
The only reason Eliron wasn’t concerned about the high elves at this time, was because right now, according to the story, they should be receiving a visitor they could not possibly ignore.
Adonis, the celestial knight, the main character.
The MC of the novel was quite an oddball...
He was a man obsessed with righteousness, after his family was brutally murdered by corrupt officials and he was robbed of everything, he decided to follow a path of righteousness and make sure no one else ever suffers what he did.
You know.. the regular cliche stuff.
Because of this, Adonis was quite overzealous in his affairs, and brutal in his judgement.
He was not yet strong enough to take on all the high elves of that region, but his connections were such that he could not refuse.
Eliron had to use this time where Galanhad was occupied to quickly grow Artaris’ military and infrastructure.
So that by the time he would march for their little village, they would be prepared for him.
"All in due time..." he muttered as he turned the shower off.
When he got down stairs, true to her word, Yennefer had prepared dinner. Sabrina was also there with her, assisting her in setting up the table.
When she saw him, she smiled softly.
"How are you feeling? Yennefer said you did something very dangerous..."
"Ah, don’t worry about me, I’m as fit as a fiddle!"
Eliron raised his hands by his sides to demonstrate, only to regret it immediately as hot pain surged through his body.
"Ack—!"
’I guess that skill must have taken a toll on me...’
Sabrina nearly dropped the plate on her hand as she hurried over to him. "Are you alright??"
Eliron nodded. "It’s nothing I can’t walk off..."
He heard Yennefer click her tongue from the kitchen.
"What about you? How was your day, I hope Artie didn’t go overboard..."
While Eliron went to train the cadets, Artie had actually requested her assistance, which was the only reason she did not accompany Eliron.
It turns out, Artie was in need of a competent sparring partner, and with how busy Eliron was that day, she decided to go for the next best thing.
"It was pretty fun. Lady Artie and I ended up sparring till late in the afternoon, before she went home to rest."
"Ohh, I was with Delilah after that and..."
Eliron smiled as he watched her talk, he was happy that she was not having difficulty integrating into the village.
Although she also told him of a few people that had shown open animosity, a couple even hurling insults at her, she still seemed happy for the most part.
Eliron could have considered interfering, but if he were to tell them to stop, it would not remove the anger they had in their hearts.
Sabrina was half high elf, the very people who had caused so much death and sorrow in Artaris, for a small group of elves, it was hard for them to not associate her with them.
But Eliron was sure that over time, they would come to accept her as one of them.
’I’ll only interfere if things get too far...’
"Alright, let’s eat!" Yen said happily as she placed a steaming bowl on the table, a wide grin on her face.
Eliron muttered a quiet prayer, hoping it wouldn’t be his last meal, while the adventurous Sabrina took the first bite without a care for her life.
Day after day, Eliron made the elves complete the same grueling exercise, putting their bodies through unimaginable pain over and over.
He had countless meetings with his group as they planned the future of Artaris, and made preparations for their coming trip.
One that would see them venture into the outside world for the first time in centuries.
And just like that, one month went by...
