The Elven Evolution: Starting With 1 Million SSSR Skills-Chapter 156: [] I’m Not Happy For You
The dark clouds up above shone with flashes of lightning, the world rumbled like an ancient beast, and then came the intense rain.
Shaaaa!
The water descended down without restraint, slipping through the thick canopy of leaves, just before exploding on the floor below.
In the midst of the rain, Eliron hurried towards a large tree, taking refuge from the pouring rain underneath it, a voice trailing behind, following him...
"Hey, wait up kid!"
"Argh, damnit!" Eliron turned to glare at the figure who smiled slyly at him.
It was none other than the sword demon, Satoru Uren.
"Hahahaha, good to see you too you little shit!"
Eliron placed his back on the tree and slid down. "Could this day get any worse?"
This was the first time he had unsheathed the sword since that day, somehow, pulling it out might have triggered the summoning.
Satoru shrugged. "Well, you could get struck by lightning. I’ve seen many good men go down that way...."
Eliron raised his annoyed gaze to meet the sword demon’s, taking note of a few new details.
Back when they were in his realm, Satoru had looked like any regular human did. But now, his body was partly transparent, and he seemed to have less of a presence.
’Wait, why does he seem different somehow?’
Eliron kept his eyes on the demon as he floated from the floor, a goofy grin on his face.
Then Eliron immediately shot up to his feet.
"Ah? You’ve noticed?" The sword demon asked.
Eliron’s voice took on a more serious tone. "Why the hell can I not sense any demonic energy from you?"
Before, Satoru had been overflowing with it, so much so that Yen would probably be disgusted at the very sight of the sword demon.
But now, as strangely as it sounded, he seemed... pure??
"Hehehe, it must be the glitch! Who would have known I would be reborn as a spirit?"
Eliron blinked. "Spirit?"
Satoru nodded. "You know how normally, exorcised demons vanish into obscurity right?"
Eliron nodded. Once the law was fulfilled, there was no reason for a demon to still be in existence.
"Well, the battle was never resolved, but I handed you my sword in the domain. Even with an unresolved battle, the law must have accepted it as a reasonable end."
Satoru floated close to the edge of the tree, observing the rain as it went down.
"Sooo, here I am! Although, there is probably a lot more complicated hoo-hah, but I can’t be bothered to explain."
Eliron gave him a deadpan look. "You can’t be bothered, or you just don’t know?"
"Uhum..." the sword saint cleared his throat.
Eliron sighed.
’I can’t say I didn’t see this coming...’
From the moment the mark appeared, Eliron was sure he would cross paths with the demon once again.
What he had not expected was that he would be transformed into a spirit...
"Being a spirit is great you know?" Satoru grinned and pointed at his head. "As a demon, there were often a ton of bothersome thoughts running in my head."
"But now..." he smiled and clasped his hands together. "I still have the memories, but it’s not that bad! I can simply enjoy the rest of my life as a spirit, great right?!"
"Yayy, I’m happy for you..." Eliron said dryly while raising his hands in the air.
"No need to sound too excited." Satoru hissed. "Anyways, because this was partly because of your help..."
He lifted three fingers. "I’ll help you crush three enemies of your choosing."
He flexed his muscles.
"In my day, there was no one who could hold a candle to me, I brought down civilizations with the mere wave of my sword!"
"Such is the legend of the Winter Shogun!"
Clap clap... clap!
Eliron looked thoroughly unimpressed.
Of course he had no doubt that the shogun was strong, maybe in his prime he would have even been on the level of the titans...
"But you’re missing one thing..." Eliron sighed.
"Huh?"
Eliron pointed at him. "You said you were reborn. Newborn spirits cannot make contact with the physical world..."
Satoru froze. "What?"
Eliron smiled. "Yup."
"Noooo! Damn this world and its flimsy rules!!"
"That is not the only issue..." Eliron added.
"You don’t have the same core you had many years ago, nor do you have the iron body you refined for however long... as a spirit, you will start from ground zero."
The sword demon’s face became as blank as a sheet of paper.
"That is just a minor inconvenience, hehe." He laughed nervously. "What level do I need to get to?"
Eliron smiled. "Level three..."
"Ahahahaha! And how long will it take?"
"If you’re fast, then a decade." Eliron tapped the space above his shoulder and smiled.
Plop!
Satoru fell down to his knees, a look of disbelief on his face.
"N-no matter..." he spoke through gritted teeth. "The great Satoru will once again rise to power however long it will take. But before then..."
His gaze shot to Eliron and he pointed his finger at him.
"I’ll train you, you will be the one to maintain my legacy!"
"Nope, not interested."
"Huh? Why?"
Eliron turned around and began walking toward the rain, planning to resume his workout.
He raised the sword and tilted it under the rain, and just then, a wet leaf descended on its sharp end, and the moment the leaf touched it, it slid down the blade like butter, sliced into two clean halves.
"What is there to learn from you? Your techniques are basically archaic at this point."
The sword demon rushed toward him, leaning over his shoulder. "No they are not! My techniques are ageless!"
"Besides, what do you expect me to do all this time while I wait to ascend as a spirit?"
Eliron shrugged. "I don’t know, count rocks or something."
The sword demon clasped both hands together and stared at Eliron intently. "Are you going to do this to me after all we’ve been through together?"
"Yes."
"Come on man, alright, I’ll do anything you want, just name it!"
Eliron smirked.
’Bingo...’
He sighed, putting on his most nonchalant face. "I guess I could spare a few hours from my busy schedule to entertain your lessons."
"But if we’re going to do this..." a dark smile appeared on his lips. "I want to learn all of it."
Satoru’s jaw tightened. "All of it?"
"Everything, including all your secret techniques...."
Satoru stared at Eliron for a long time, the heavy rain forming an isolated space around them.
Then he smiled. "You greedy bastard. You have a deal."
"Good..."
Eliron was about to step into the rain when Satoru suddenly appeared in front of him, stopping him.
"Not so fast. As my student, it’s time for the first order of business."
Eliron frowned. "If you tell me to run a lap around this forest, I’ll quit right now...."
This wasn’t some Manhwa training arc where he would be worked like a dog.
Satoru let out a small chuckle. "Nope, it’s something else." He pointed at Eliron’s wrist.
"I sense great power behind that mark. Are you ready to meet the second spirit?"
