Chapter 94: [94] Playing With Dragons (2)

Yennefer’s arm was healing, the flesh rejoining each other and the bones reconnecting to create a stable frame for it.

’Thank God I finished that spell on time...’

Since she knew she would not be conscious long enough to heal herself, Yennefer chanted a self healing, automated spell that worked while she was unconscious.

The only downside was that it was slower than her regular healing abilities.

Ash and Artie looked very relieved to see her standing, albeit a little mortified as well...

It was understandable, since she looked like a zombie...

Most of the elf warriors with her were standing at a respectable distance, only Durin was bold enough to come close.

He was the one currently supporting her.

"Are you sure you should be standing, Lady Artie? You nearly died, you should at least sit down." He begged, but Yen was not listening.

Artie and Ash were still in a deadly situation with the Wyvern after all, and this only happened because she was out of it.

Immediately her second arm healed, Yennefer planted her staff in the floor, a wave of holy mana flooding the area.

Her hair began to levitate around her, as a gentle wind blew against her clothing and hair.

"Shine your light upon is oh lord, let evil be vanquished from our sights. Let your warriors move without fear, let your light encompass their blades."

A soft golden light shone from her body, before becoming vibrant.

"Blessing!"

Immediately she finished her chant, Ash and Artie were enveloped in a bright golden aura.

Their pain faded away, and their stamina became even greater than when they started the fight.

Even their mana was recovering at a faster rate.

"This..." Artie mumbled in disbelief as she glanced at Yen.

She could see a slight tremble in her hands, even from that distance. ’She can’t keep this up for long.’

Artie grabbed her bow, her expression stern. "Let’s finish this."

Ash nodded, his aura explosion outwards. "Yeah!"

The golden shield had long surpassed its limits as it took a direct hit from the Wyvern’s berthed.

The moment the shield came down, the wyvern struck, with everything, but its movements were noticeably slower than earlier.

’It’s just like I thought...’ Ash mused.

The dragon breath was still too much for the young wyvern. The monster must have over exerted itself to deal that blast.

Two lightning arrows dug into its back, sending a jolt of currents through its body.

Unlike before, Artie was being enhanced by Yen’s spell, so her hits were far more effective.

The same could be said for Ash who defected the monster’s claw, and drove his sword into its foot.

Steel and magic flared in the battlefield as the three of them fought, but it was an unfair battle.

Whenever the wyvern had them cornered, Yen’s shield would appear out of nowhere to save them.

Worst of all, the monster could not fly above them to reach Yennefer because of its injured wing.

When it was finally backed into a corner, it’s life waning before its very eyes.

The wyvern committed to a risky move.

It sucked in a huge gulp of air, and despite the fact that it was already weak, unleashed another gust of wind.

?!

As the icy breath came, a curved shield appeared right before the wyvern’s. The I e Bakst coiled around the shield like a sled, flying right back into its face.

Skreee!

The wyvern stumbled back, dazed by the attack.

But before it could recover, seven arrows plunged into its chest, and Ash appeared right next to it, binding his sword upon its massive neck.

Ash had to use too much mana, combining his strength to dive the sword through the scale, letting out a battle cry just as the blade passed through.

Blood gushed out, soaking him and the floor, just before the monster fell with an explosive bang.

Silence...

"HURAHHH!"

"THEY DID IT!!!"

"WE KILLED A DRAGON!"

"Who is we?" Yennefer glared at the elf, using her staff just to keep herself upright

Artie fell to her knees, her now falling to the floor. Her hands were bruised from repeatedly drawing her bow and her shoulders felt like it was weighed down by lead.

She glanced at the monster, a small smile on her sweat soaked face. "We actually did it..."

Ash’s aura faded slowly, his sanity returning as he stumbled forward, placing his hands on his face as he was hit by a strong feeling of nausea.

When he opened his eyes to see the monster that was now right next to him, he frowned.

"Artie! Yen! I think you will want to see this!" He shouted.

The monster was still alive, but that was not the most alarming thing about the beast.

•••

Yennefer managed to stand up as Ash called her, then she walked towards them, angrily complaining about how hungry she now was.

Due to the fight, the entire banquet had most likely been destroyed, which meant she would have to wait an extra hour before she could eat!

Haaa—!

She sighed as she arrived.

"What is—" She was about to ask before she froze.

"Do you recognise this spell?" Artie asked, staring at the monster.

The wyvern was not dead, it was taking slow shallow breaths.

Part of its face was covered in ice due to the attack that Yen had redirected, and the large cut on its neck was bleeding.

It wouldn’t last long...

Even in its half dead state, the beast was growling at them, its eyes filled with rage.

But the reason that they had all gathered was the reddish black chains that were wrapped around its neck.

It was not visible during the fight, meaning it only appeared because it was now near death.

Yen recognized the spell immediately. "It is a curse type spell. Curse of slavery."

Someone had captured the wyvern and enslaved it, meaning the entire fight, and everything it had done as not by its will.

"There is no need keeping it alive is there?" Ash ashes, lifting his sword.

Yennefer raised a hand to stop him. "Wait..."

She walked over to the monster and placed her hand on the chains.

Immediately she touched it, a cold chill ran down her spine as she felt the sinister magic.

’It’s black magic...’

But to an angel like her, curses were useless. She gripped the chain, and it completely shattered, the spell dissipating into nothing.

Then she glanced at Artie and Ash.

After the monster had nearly killed her, Yennefer wanted nothing but to see the monster served on a plate with a generous portion of stew.

But now, after breaking the chains that bound it, the hate had faded from its eyes and the monster was staring at her with a pleading look in her eyes.

’Why does it look so cute????!’ She screamed internally.

Her face was serious as she glanced at Artie and Ash.

"I’m going to heal it."

"What?!"
