The Empror's Trap-Chapter 80: Ch - Yunis’s Entrusting
When Yunis learned of the decision regarding his fate, he had no reaction. He understood clearly what destiny awaited him. For him, at least he still maintained the dignity of a prince until the end - that was enough.
After leaving the judicial court, Yunis was escorted back to the palace. There were still two months until his actual execution. During this time, he would spend his days in the chambers where he had once lived in the palace. Except for being unable to leave his courtyard, everything else remained the same as when he was still a prince.
This too was a final dignity afforded to him by Pluvia.
When Kenji went to visit the prince again, he found stacks of completed books piled before him. These books were all bound extremely neatly, with clear and proper handwriting that was pleasing to the eye.
As for Her Majesty’s warning not to get too close to Yunis... well, at least he needed to convey her response, right?
This time Yunis didn’t keep him seated long, just handed over several keys and instructed Kenji that he must find a way to personally search his mansion and take away several large chests there.
Those large chests were his parting gift to Kenji.
Kenji didn’t refuse his gift. He understood clearly what the other had left him - the keys in his hand were typical book chest keys, engraved with elegant patterns and the character for book.
It seemed Yunis had always been concerned about his books. Now, his willingness to hand these keys to Kenji showed that he ultimately hoped someone would preserve his books.
Kenji agreed to this request. Those collected books might be very helpful in understanding Yunis. Moreover, Kenji was willing to believe that for this prince to create such a great disturbance and gather so many willing followers, he must have had some progressive ideas.
The Fifth Prince’s ideas may have been somewhat impractical, but impractical ideas weren’t necessarily wrong - they just didn’t suit this era.
So Kenji was quite willing to accept this gift. To ensure no one was monitoring on Her Majesty’s behalf, he had Lina specifically guard the surroundings.
After accepting the Fifth Prince’s gift, Kenji explained Pluvia’s response. Learning that Pluvia said she would consider it, Yunis smiled with some comfort. Though she said she would consider, in reality this was basically equivalent to agreeing.
Looking at Yunis’s expression, Kenji couldn’t help but sigh - in the end, this prince, once a strong contender for the throne, had come to this fate.
"Oh right, I heard that recently the exchange students between Camelot and the Western Empire will be returning home. Is this true?"
"Yes, it’s the exchange program from three years ago. The term has expired now, and all the students should be on their way back," Kenji said. "I hope what they learned in the Western Empire can be put to use in our country."
Hearing this, Prince Yunis smiled: "Grand Marshal, your thinking isn’t wrong. Although Camelot now produces many talents, in most people’s eyes there are still many gaps to fill. This requires many talented people. When our talents return, Grand Marshal must find a way to keep them in the country."

"Rest assured, I’ve already prepared for this."
Actually, Camelot’s treatment had always been quite good - this needed no elaboration. Kenji had decided to treat these returning talents generously, since Camelot still had many gaps to fill.
"That’s good." At this point, Yunis fell silent for a moment, seeming to have no other topics to discuss, and finally decided to see his guest out.
Before Kenji walked out the door of Yunis’s house arrest quarters, he was suddenly called back by the prince.
"Wait."
"Does Your Highness have any other instructions?"
Kenji asked routinely.
"No, I just want to ask - I won’t be taken outside to be killed publicly, will I?"
He asked.
To be honest, everyone must face death sooner or later, but for someone of Yunis’s high position and authority, such a public execution would be quite undignified.
Even in death, it would be better not to die like a stage villain in front of a crowd. If following the law completely, it would be like being made a spectacle in broad daylight...
"I’m not certain about that either. The final details of how to handle it are still up to Her Majesty. I’m just conveying her response on her behalf. If you have nothing else, I’ll take my leave."
When leaving the mansion, Lina followed behind, remaining vigilant along the way.
Although this was in the palace and theoretically very safe, last time a group of assassins had infiltrated the palace and specifically tried to assassinate Pluvia, so Lina wasn’t completely relaxed even within the palace.
This time Kenji received several keys and some chests said to contain jewels. These jewels were also given to Kenji, though he didn’t have much desire for such things.
He had never been someone particularly fond of money and jewels. Although he had accumulated no small amount due to his position, Kenji had never truly fallen into madness over money. So honestly, he felt disdainful of the Fifth Prince’s material inheritance (though Germany hadn’t fallen apart yet).
However, those books were completely different.
Walking back, Kenji happily hummed a tune. Current work was progressing very smoothly - at this rate, this matter might end sooner.
News that Her Majesty would soon execute the imperial traitor fifth prince Yunis quickly spread throughout the streets of Luminara and the empire, becoming a topic of conversation over tea and meals.
For many common people, although there had been previous cases of officials and nobles being punished, most hadn’t been carried out under the current legal framework without dispute.
Now that the new emperor actually planned to execute a prince, the former Fifth Prince, this matter suddenly improved business for taverns and teahouses around Luminara.
People discussed the emperor’s character and whether making such a decision counted as cold-blooded. But thinking carefully, many people came to terms with it - regardless of the emperor’s personality or whether killing one’s own brother was right or wrong, at least Her Majesty took the law very seriously.
Being willing to move against their own brother - such an emperor might really be quite impressive.
A considerable portion of the common people thought this way.
