Chapter 200: 200

Anastasia had a frown on her face and turned to look at Michelle, at the moment under the identity of Michael Grayson.

"Junior Brother, do you think you can treat it?"

Michelle walked over to the unconscious man and took his pulse. A moment later, her face twisted in annoyance. With a flip of her hand, she took a paper out of her spatial ring and handed it over to the family head.

"Have someone brew this and feed it to the unconscious people," she said placidly. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

The Sloan family head was confused. If the young man in front of him had a treatment for the poison, why was he showing such annoyance?

The family head’s confusion was more than evident, so Kieran stepped closer to him and explained.

"Junior Brother is only interested in complex poisons. He’s annoyed the poison isn’t interesting enough. If it was, he would have taken care of the treatment himself."

Kieran’s explanation didn’t really help much with the family head’s confusion, but he at least knew that nothing too serious was going on. To quickly take care of everything, he wanted to have someone brew the concoction.

The situation looked a bit bleak because most capable people were unconscious since they were below the level of Spirit Overlords. But some older Pill Maker Masters were already Spirit Overlords, so the family head went to them.

When the family head left them alone, Michelle, Kieran, Anastasia, and Ivona all went to her room to prepare themselves for the final act.

"How long will it take for things to work?" Ivona asked as she lay on Michelle’s bed.

Anastasia sat atop the table at the side of the room, Kieran on the chair, and Michelle leaned against the wall.

Michelle started her explanation:

"After the so-called antidote is made, within an hour, the people will wake up, and in the next two hours, their minds will completely clear up. But for the next two days, they will still be physically weakened. When the weakness disappears, everything will seem fine again."

"That will last until the seventh day. Then, people will start fainting all over the residence, including the experts. But when they faint, their senses won’t fade. They will be able to hear things perfectly. Also, their smell, hearing, and sense of touch will be in perfect condition."

"Just what was in those pouches you gave us the last few days and today?" Ivona was still curious.

"Mare’s venom, but modified to work with delay," Michelle said with a careless smile.

The other three in the room smiled. Using the venom of a Venom Jade Serpent was quite cruel—especially since it was modified to work slowly.

The venom of ordinary Jade Serpents was known to be quite fatal, able to kill someone within three days after being injected with just a small amount, but it could be easily treated with simple healing pills.

The venom of Venom Jade Serpents was completely different. Even in the higher realms, it was known to be the most fatal of all lizard venoms. The venom could kill a person within three minutes after just a drop entered their bloodstream. After drinking it, death would come within an hour, and after inhaling, it would kill within a day.

But the serpents rarely used it because they had a hard time getting it out through their fangs, so most of the time, they just strangled their prey.

And Michelle was quite the master of poisons and venoms. So after she modified the poison, she put it into the pouches, which then spread it all over the residence in small specks of dust that were inhaled by the residents and servants. But it was made so it wouldn’t reveal its presence without a catalyst.

The catalyst could be one of two kinds.

The first one worked instantly but was weak and couldn’t make the modified venom kill anyone, not even a sickly infant. That was what was contained in the pouches Michelle and the rest had in their sleeves. That was what made everyone below the level of Spirit Overlord faint.

There was just one reason why they even used the catalyst—to have the family head willingly give the second catalyst to the people.

And the way it worked was much more intricate than the first one because it didn’t affect the people who consumed it.

Quite the opposite—it clashed with the first catalyst in their bodies and inactivated it, making them regain consciousness.

But its work didn’t stop there. After it drove the first catalyst out, it would slowly start leaving its host’s body and spreading out into the surroundings.

Finally, the real effects would appear after inhaling the gas-state catalyst.

After enough of the catalyst was breathed in by a victim, the dormant venom within them would travel through the bloodstream to their heart and brain, tying to the cells there.

At first, that would cause their heart rate to rise and their senses to heighten. But the human brain wouldn’t be able to bear the heightened senses, so the victim would faint. And after some time, the brain would completely shut down. The victim would end up brain-dead.

Naturally, the venom tied to the cells in the victim’s heart wouldn’t stop after increasing the heart rate. It would simply continue causing severe arrhythmia.

In the end, the heart would beat so fast that it wouldn’t be able to work as a pump for blood and would just tremble and vibrate. That would make it impossible for blood to move properly around the body, and the organs would start collapsing without the oxygen it carried.

And the first to collapse would be the brain. So, once again, it led to the victim going brain-dead.

But other organs would slowly collapse too, leading to the death of the whole body.

The next few days, everything worked out exactly like Michelle said. Everyone was happy when the unconscious people woke up. And when their strength started returning, they were even more thankful to Michelle and her friends.

The Sloan family head wanted to organize another banquet, but Michelle and the rest refused, saying they needed to leave since the Young Lady was already treated.

So the family head gave the order for treasure and gold to be given to the group as a reward.

It was funny that he was rewarding the people who had basically already killed him. He was paying his own killers.

Flying off on Rivenaar’s back, Michelle and the rest lay on his back, letting the black bird carry them to their hideout cave. There, they waited for the seventh day.

In the meantime, Michelle also told the rest what she had found out about the Soul Seeking Pendants. Even the lowest servants were aware of them and that they were sent down to the Land of Exile to perform a sacrificial ritual.

Naturally, everyone was aware that the plan failed because someone intervened, killing everyone from the Sloan family who went to the Land of Exile.

And Michelle also found out who was involved—only the main family. Basically, only those in the residence in the snowy mountains. Naturally, some of those people were away, taking care of the black market network, but no one was worried about that. If necessary, they would kill them. If not, they would be left alive.

So there remained just one more mystery about the Sloan family: all the artifacts they had sent to the Land of Exile. Where did they come from, and why did they send them there?

Since the Sloan family was basically the strongest in the lower realm, the number could somehow be explained, but there were still too many questions about it.

After talking about everything, all four people in the group went to cultivate until the seventh day. Then, they got on Rivenaar’s back again and he flew them to the Sloan residence once more.

No one cared about being discreet anymore. Michelle just had Rivenaar land in the middle of the gardens and got off.

"Let’s spread out..." she said with a lazy yawn. After cultivating for a few days straight, her body was quite stiff, and she felt like taking a nap.

"We need to find the family head," she added.

The four split up, and Michelle even sent out all her beasts to search for the man. She wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible. All the hassle with the Sloan family was already getting on her nerves.

A while later, a ray of fire flew high up into the air for everyone to see. Kieran had found the family head, so everyone went there.

Standing above the man, Michelle stretched her back.

"Old man, I know you can hear me, so listen up!" she said coldly, her eyes narrowed in crescents of a cruel smile.

"I’ve poisoned everyone in this residence. They are in the same state as you. I’m sure you can already feel your heart uncomfortably beating hard in your chest. If it’s not stopped, you will die an ugly death. I’ll give you a way out of it." She spoke calmly.

She had already shed her disguise as Michael Grayson, so the family head had no way of knowing who she was.
