Chapter 314: 314

Sitting under a tree, Michelle had taken off her disguise mask. She didn’t yet want to be found. She was sure that sooner or later, someone would start looking for her.

With her presence, if she stayed as Ana, the chances of someone noticing her would be low, but still there. But if she reverted back to Michelle, someone no one from the group knew, the chance would turn to nearly zero.

The only way someone could find her was if they were accustomed to the presence of someone like her and Ana for a long time.

While sitting under the tree, Michelle looked up into the tree crown. "How come you are still able to see me?"

Alexander jumped off the tree and landed next to Michelle. "It’s been a while since I’ve seen your face..." He didn’t answer her question. Instead, he reached out to touch her face.

He had been observing her from the shadows since she had crossed to the upper realm, and seeing a different face on her was bothersome. Also, because she had to keep up the act of being Ana, she was acting completely unlike herself.

Michelle slapped Alexander’s hand away, clearly demanding an answer.

But Alexander didn’t feel like answering just yet. Instead, he suddenly lifted Michelle up and leapt with her above the trees.

"Hey!" Michelle instantly summoned her shadow essence and wrapped it around her hand in a threat. "Let me down!" She was prepared to punch Alexander.

Alexander grinned, continuing to move forward in midair, until the clearing where the Ostrich family’s children were camping was under them.

Then, without warning, he let go of Michelle.

"You bastard!" Michelle shouted at him. At the same time, she summoned Tenether.

The giant black bird flew alongside Michelle and caught her between its claws, stopping her fall.

Still near the clearing, Leonard saw Alexander fly above the area, but he didn’t think much of it.

That was until he heard Michelle’s shout. He understood something was going on.

Looking up again, he was shocked to see a huge black bird above the tents, catching a figure.

Looking closer, he recognized the figure. It was the same woman he had seen at the barrier of the Heavenly Law between the middle and upper realms.

But why had the man thrown her down?

After catching Michelle, Tenether flew up a bit before letting go of her. From the momentum of Tenether flying upward, Michelle was thrown higher.

At the same time, Tenether flew lower, letting her fall onto his back.

Seeing all that, the people in the clearing were shocked. As far as they knew, even if people were riding their own contracted flying beasts, they would never let themselves be thrown like that. It was natural for humans to never trust beasts to such an extent, even if they were bound to them by their very being, with their life and death on the line.

So they were awestruck to see such a stunt right above them. Especially since it was clear from Michelle’s shouting that it wasn’t planned. To pull off something like that out of nowhere was shocking.

Michelle didn’t pay attention to the Ostrich family beneath her. Instead, she had Tenether fly upward toward Alexander, gathering even more of her shadow essence.

"You are asking for death!" she hissed, forming a bow. It seemed to have been made with Liquid Shadow, but that wasn’t the case.

Even Alexander was fooled at first, thinking it was Liquid Shadow, but when Michelle drew the bow without an arrow, he understood he was wrong.

"Well, that’s an interesting way to use the Living Shadow!" he grinned. But he still didn’t summon his own shadow essence to defend himself. "How did you come up with creating a living bow?" he asked.

At the same time, Michelle let go of the bowstring.

In an instant, the bow exuded some black mist. It gathered at the bowstring and was shot toward Alexander. Mid-flight, it turned into an arrow, and in that shape, it flew even faster.

Seeing the arrow, Alexander lazily dodged to the side and turned his gaze back to Michelle. What he saw next was fairly surprising, but also to be expected since she had made a living bow.

Michelle had let go of the bow, and it was floating next to her on her right, the bowstring drawn. The bow was aiming at him on its own.

"Since it can aim on its own, why did you shoot at me first?" Alexander couldn’t help but ask.

Michelle watched as the bow shot at Alexander repeatedly like a turret while he dodged. "I had to show it what its target is."

She lazily sat on Tenether’s back, letting the bow do the work for her.

Seeing that Michelle was no longer paying attention to him, Alexander frowned. With a flick of his fingers, a wave of shadow essence left his body, crushing toward the bow.

But something unexpected happened.

The bow moved to Michelle’s left. It dodged Alexander’s attack.

Seeing that, Michelle couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. A random creation of hers was actually able to evade Alexander’s move when he was angry. That was something even she wasn’t sure she could do.

Even when calm, Alexander’s attacks, whether big or small, were lightning-fast. And when he got angry or annoyed, their speed went up another notch, making them nearly impossible to dodge.

But Michelle’s bow was able to do it. She was quite happy with that.

Hearing Michelle’s chuckle, Alexander’s brows twitched a bit, his frown easing. "Are you enjoying the show?" he asked as he dodged another arrow flying at him. After moving to the side, the bow immediately started shooting at him again.

Michelle grinned. "Very much so!" She stood up on Tenether’s back. "It makes me want to create more bows to annoy you!"

Being high up in the sky, Michelle’s voice couldn’t reach the ground where the Ostrich family was. They couldn’t tell what she was talking about. But they were all still holding their breaths, watching closely what was happening above them.

As most of them, everyone except the coaches, were still young, they didn’t have much experience in the real world. So not a single one of them had ever seen a bow that could shoot and move on its own, not to mention one floating next to a huge black bird.

Most of the people were focused on Michelle and the bow. Only Leonard had his gaze locked onto Tenether.

One of his friends nearby noticed the frown on his face and got curious. "What’s wrong?" he asked in a hushed tone.

Looking over at his friend, Leonard remembered he had also been in the expedition that went to the lower realm to retrieve Amelia. "Doesn’t the bird have a similar aura to the cat that came to Amelia by the barrier of the Heavenly Law?" he asked.

The friend looked up and focused on Tenether. "Now that you mention it..." He frowned as well. "But that cat belonged to that silver-haired woman. She isn’t around now."

Leonard shook his head. "Look at the figure on the bird properly."

The friend didn’t understand what Leonard was talking about. The figure clearly wasn’t all that interesting.

But he still did as the young master said.

Once his gaze fell on Michelle, he nearly fell down in shock. "It’s her!" he exclaimed.

Leonard nodded. "Something about her presence makes people overlook her. That’s also probably why you didn’t notice she was the same woman from the barrier."

"What is she doing here?" the friend asked.

Leonard shook his head, showing that he didn’t know. But in reality, a suspicion was forming in his mind.

There was one person he knew who had a presence nearly nonexistent, just like the woman on the bird. And she wasn’t around at the moment.

Of course, that was just his suspicion. Ana could be anywhere nearby.

And Leonard’s focus was elsewhere. "If that’s the same woman, she’s the owner of the cat Amelia was playing with. But how can we explain that a completely different creature, a bird, has the same aura?"

The friend didn’t know, so Leonard continued. "Do you remember the time in the lower realm when we passed through a recently abandoned city?"

The friend’s stomach tightened at the mention of the city. "Blue Forest City?" He didn’t like where the conversation was going.

Leonard nodded. "There were remnants of a powerful presence there."

The friend refused to believe it. "Young master, how could a human control a monster of such caliber?"

He didn’t want to believe it, but the proof was flying above him. The presence from the bird above, though suppressed, had the exact same patterns as the remnants of the presence in Blue Forest City.

The woman fighting above had somehow gained control over a monster that had been sealed away by the legendary Black God after throwing the whole Heavenly Realm into a state of chaos.

Leonard also didn’t want to believe that the sealed monster was flying above him, but it was impossible for two creatures to have the same presence. Even similar presences were extremely rare. What he was feeling now was exactly the same as what he had felt in Blue Forest City.

In the sky, Michelle was summoning more bows, unaware of the fact that two young boys had realized the identity of Tenether.

If she knew, she would instantly disappear. Because the appearance of a monster such as Tenether could bring about a great deal of trouble, especially for the one controlling it.
